I just used an electric can opener less than 30 minutes ago. I do have a manual can opener but neglected to use it. My bad, per usual.
I don't know how you can live with yourself. Next thing you know you will turn on the TV using a remote.

A friend of mine who's Jewish, told me that in Israel he has seen a few times when rabbis hit an ambulance with rocks for "working" and saving people's lives on Saturday.
I was kinda left speechless.

Fortunately, I don't watch TV anymore, but my wife uses the remote to click on Netflix. Actually, I don't sleep very good at night. :)

I thought only the Palestinians threw rocks. It seems to be their weapon of choice. The very act of the rabbis throwing rocks is in itself work.

Regarding the word "Remember', the 4th Commandment pertaining to keeping holy the Sabbath is the only commandment that has the word 'Remember' in it.

Sabbath keepers like the SDA go to some lengths or even great lengths to comply based on their understanding or perception. Maybe they are misguided, or maybe not. I cannot find scripture that abolishes the 10 Commandments. For the record I do not keep the Sabbath, but maybe that's to my detriment. To me, the Sabbath seems to be a complex subject.

Either I am not spiritually discerned in this particular area or maybe I just don't really want to understand it, less I would be compelled to comply.
You're fine. You picked a lane. Keep it all or be led by the Spirit.
At the very least, we have the freedom of not being judged as to how we keep sabbaths.

If you search online a lot of people say it is prohibited, however I also read it okay to warm up foods in the microwave.... I'm curious if we can use the microwave or not... What do you guys do and eat on the sabbath??? Any input?🤔
are you [walking] to the fridge/freezer to get your food?
did you [search] for your food in the fridge/freezer?
are you [carrying] your food to the microwave?
did you [open] the door to the microwave?
did you [place] your food into the microwave?
did you [push] buttons to operate the microwave?
did you [stand] while waiting for the food to cook/warm up?

idk man, that's a whole lot of sinning going on

I don't see the 10 commandments abolished as a whole anywhere either. What I do see is ALL the commandments being repeated in the New Testament EXCEPT FOR the sabbath, its the only thing that isnt repeated.

Colossians 2:16-17
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

It looks like most of the postings are making light or poking fun at such a silly notion as physically observing the Sabbath. What's in your heart and how does the Holy Spirit lead you? Most here are content with shadows and hints of reality.

I would say we live in a very different kind of society that the Hebrews lived in a more agrarian society, public utilities had not come into view, and the command was ok to light a fire and set up wood beside it to keep it going throughout the Sabbath. But don't start a fire once the Sabbath started. In other words, take the day serious, prepare what you will need and like to have ahead of time.

I used to go camping and trail riding many years ago. I was a Sunday Christian. Didn't know anything about the Sabbath. Anyway, I would prepare for several days before packing on the trailer all our camping and food needs. It took time, money, planning, prepping, and then enjoying the trip away camping and trail riding. Sitting around a campfire at night visiting with all the campers, roasting marshmellows, and hot dogs. To me, this is what Sabbath is about getting ready so I can enjoy the day. Opening the refrigerator door and pulling out dishes I made ahead of time is a joy. No labor and there is no prohibition in keeping the refirgerator runnings because the flow of electricity is non stop for months and years. The microwave is also like a fire made ready before the sabbath. The electricity running to the microwave is nonstop and it is all ready ready to use.

Now I have heard of certain Jewish people who stand at an elevator waiting for some one else to come along and push the button. That seems rather dumb, but hey, everybody has their man-made traditions that have nothing to do with the Word.

Pray about it and follow your indwelling Holy Spirit's leading.

The wisdom of the Sabbath is that God recognized man's need to cease from all earthly concerns and renew himself in God.

It is easy for fallen man to stray from God and find his satisfaction in the things that God has provided for our good instead of finding our delight in God Himself. We have only to examine our own lives to find far too many instances where this is so.

Having no greater reward to give Abraham, God gave Himself as a reward. That same reward is given us in Christ.

As we are still given to stray, it behooves us to at least one day in seven ourselves forego earthly pursuits and afresh find God to be an all-surpassing reward.

To be fair it was a question that even the elders,Apostles ect. had to look really close at but in the end they determined that the new converts were not required to be circumcised or follow the law(Moses) https://biblehub.com/interlinear/acts/15.htm ,,, In Galatians 5:4 Paul states that if you do you are severed from Christ and fallen away from grace. https://biblehub.com/interlinear/galatians/5-4.htm
New converts were encouraged to learn the law of Moses little by little. Impossible to learn in a here a there and a little there.

Act 15:19 "So I've decided that we shouldn't trouble non-Jewish people who are turning to God.
Act 15:20 Instead, we should write a letter telling them to keep away from things polluted by false gods, from sexual sins, from eating the meat of strangled animals, and from eating bloody meat.
Act 15:21 After all, Moses' words have been spread to every city for generations. His teachings are read in synagogues on every day of worship."

“And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days? And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; how he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:1-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The law and the prophets were until John:

since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭

“And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭2:27-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

before jesus came forth in the gospel remember this part

Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And so This man picked up some sticks one sabbath day before the gospel came along under the law

“And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.

And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭15:32, 35-36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There can’t be any salvstion for a sinner in this governing word if you make a mistake you are excommunicated or executed by your fellow people of God.

Christian’s have to realize we don’t need ten written stone commandments to observe we have Jesus with us , Gods holy spirit dwelling in us teaching and leading and guiding us each step of the way the gospel is written and imprinted upon a true believers heart over a lifetime of following after the lord in word and belief and also deed when we begin to mature and grow

It truly has nothing to do with any particular day of the week if you are doing good towards others if you aren’t harming and stealing and lying and cheating people if you are hearing the gospel and believing and your being drawn to him and not fighting it and you know you need ti do the right thing and you start to those things then you are not “ sinning “ it doesn’t matter what day of the week the children of Israel was commanded to not gather food or sticks or stoke a fire or lift a finger in any way ect

thier law is like hearing Gods word with having stopped up ears and seeing his shape like peering with poor eyesight through a dingy veil it’s only a loose pattern reflecting the righteousness of God found in the gospel this is man’s true time and place of rest

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:27-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what we find in the gospel is that what day it is doesn’t really matter to God but how we act and how we treat other people all the time in his name is what matter to God

If someone needs assistance on any day and we help it’s honoring Christs spirit and name if we say “ well friend I would but it’s a sabbath sorry “ well Gods already made clear the greatest commandment is to love him by loving one another in his ways in our deeds deed and in truth

It’s why Paul makes these conclusions later

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:13-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we need to realize what’s happened with that written ordinance that was all men had before Christ arrived , if he hadn’t taken it away like it says there every man would still be bound to sin and death.

It’s good to rest one day per week from our labors that’s always been a right and good saying man is made after his image and he rested on the seventh day from all his labors

it isn’t a law or way of worshipping God in Christ however.

what I mean is he didn’t make man as of we needed to follow rules and be told what not to do , he made us to have good godly judgement living inside of us and to truly live and care for one another our neighbor our friends our brothers and sisters in humanity and especially in Christ

man is more important to God that a sabbath rule is what I’m saying they just didn’t realize it until Jesus came to suffer and die for them and to teach them the truth of Gods words and will

Our sabbath is to abide in Christ and let him live in us
