How many of you singles would be willing to meet someone on a blind date? I've never done it but I have a couple friends that tried it and it sounds really cool actually. I know it's not everyone's style though!

My last relationship was basically a blind date. I thought she was amazing at first and things were going really well. The first month was a pretty rocky but we made it through (alive). The few months after that were great and then, when this year started, it went south really quick. The bickering back and forth became so bad and miserable that I thought it would be healthier for both of us if we just went our separate ways.

But yes, I’m all for blind dates.

Sorry it didn't work out! But hey at least y'all found out sooner rather than later. I guess that's what dating is for, to seek God's will and find out IF this is a good option.

Or HAVE you gone on a blind date, and how did it go?
No I absolutely would not. For one thing I'm not sure anyone would know what I'm looking for, appearance wise, intelligence wise or any other way.
I was once set up, against my will, on a blind date. My mom and a co-worker with a daughter decided to set us up. This was when I was a teen.
Well, not totally blind, we each saw pics of one another, but had never met.
Soon as I saw her pic I knew immediately that it wouldn't work. Nothing was wrong with her physically, but I could tell immediately that we'd have nothing in common.
And I was right. We went on our date, she was cordial enough, but no connection whatsoever. Not even platonically.

Once I got a little older I decided to quit trying to go on dates (not that I went on many to begin with).
Rather I just chose to make friends and if something sparked up between us, I'd continue at the friendship level a bit, to get to know them better without the pressure of a date.
Once we both got to know each other better, that's when we'd begin dating. That way it was a smoother transition and less stress.

Just beware if you ask if they are attractive and are told "they have a great personality" 🤔

thatzphunnneee! because about 40 years ago, i was at a bar playing pool & i had the idea of dating a girl as a blind date. so being in the pool room, off in the distance in the barroom, i saw a girl sitting at the bar with her back to me but it was half dark. i could see that she was wearing an attractive black dress. & i made up my mind no matter what she looked like, i would date her if she said yes. so when done pool playing, i introduced myself. she was on the large side which i totally despise but a bit pretty. we dated about 3 times & that was it.

That actually sounds really smart. I'm kinda coming to that opinion myself. As far as being friends for awhile before there's any boyfriend/girlfriend thing going on.

I went on a blind date many many years ago but we had nothing in common, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't attracted to me in any way, shape, or form, which is perfectly reasonable. It was group date and he didn't even really speak to me except to say hi.

I was also set up by some friends with a guy who'd been head of a worship team, but when he started mentioning things about him and his ex-wife's personal (aka, sex) life, I knew I was ready for the check (I can't remember but I'm pretty sure I paid for myself.)

Now just to clarify, I've spent a lifetime listening to people's personal problems so the subject doesn't phase me. But when someone who knows nothing about you blatantly talks about how he hopes you'd be compared to his ex in that arena right off the bat -- for me, that's a direct pass.

These days I wouldn't mind a blind date, but I'd be more at ease if it was a good friend who really knew me who set me up.

Many of my friends are single and have seen the land mines out there, so I know they'd be very cautious about not sending me out with one themselves.

I'm a lot like @Subhumanoidal though.

My focus is getting to know people, possibly becoming friends, and if anything goes from there... Let's see where it leads.

Great thread, HIH! :D

Or HAVE you gone on a blind date, and how did it go?
Once, and if anyone's had an abrupter end to a blind date than mine, please do share. :coffee:

I was visiting some long distance friends, and they arranged a date for me with a girl from their social circle who I wasn't acquainted with.

The date was at a cafe/coffee shop in a library. We met outside, exchanged a few pleasantries, and I opened the door for her to make her way inside. She walked through the doorway without acknowledging the gesture. As I was still holding the door open, an elderly couple were making their exit, so I did the right thing and waited for them to leave before letting go of the door. They thanked me on exit, while my date had gone ahead and made a beeline for the cafe without me, totally oblivious.

I knew there and then the blind date was over, because my date was figuratively blind! Without saying a word, I took my leave, turned off my phone, and returned to the suite I was staying at.

Moral of the story, chivalry ain't dead, and don't date anyone like me if the art of noticing isn't one of your strong suits.

That is so sad!
