That's just a reminder, man. Take it or leave it. If you take the image of the Beast seriously, AI is it.
Hmm, yes... People used to say the same thing about injectable microchips, and before that QR codes, and before that barcodes, and before that social security numbers. I'm old enough that I remember people screaming about all these things.

I can't wait to see what technological wonder we come up with next that people will claim is the mark of the beast.

Y2K, 5G towers, heck even Rock n Roll was touted as the Antichrist and then Dee Snider made all us Christians look like ignorant hypocrites at the supreme court.

I completely agree and want to remind everyone of the first word in AI: **Artificial** it has no wants, motivations or desires besides what humans input into it and even now the best AI is so unreliable and not-profitable that governments around the world are banning the new Server banks because they use too much water, power and are contributing too much excess heat etc.

AI is just as dangerous as a spear or a car - it's simply another tool humans have made to make our lives "easier". No judgement on good or bad but objectively the only danger regarding AI is doom mongering and ignorance about its current situation.

But it's fun!

Kind of like pointing and yelling that every major political leader is the new antichrist. What about all the old ones? They claimed so many people were the antichrist, and then forgot all about them as soon as the new one arises.

I'm not talking about the "mark", I'm talking about the IMAGE, which can speak like man. Can microchips, QR codes or barcodes speak like man?

Have you ever tried to talking to it? It doesn't talk anything like a person.

Nope, the only reason is so many identify themselves primarily as "single" instead of anything else. If you introduce yourself to other people, would you tell them first and foremost that you're "single"?
It annoys me when females, not necessarily attractive, inject their marital status into an initial conversation like they are assuming I am hitting on them. Would imagine that sort of disclosure would come later, generally and why to strangers where there is no relationship history? Cold calls? Generally suck in sales ventures and relationship possibilities. Knowing nothing about strangers, like relationship history, credit rating, Job status, honesty etc. Why tell them anything, since knowledge is power? Give nothing take everything?

Just out of curiosity does it annoy you when married women do this too or only when single women do it? And does it annoy you only when it's super obvious and off topic or even if it comes up in the normal course of conversation?

Sometimes men have to approach women in a cold-call situation in which rejection is more likely. Men are too sensitive to rejection from women. It destroys many. They have to get over it and move on to the next one. Blow it off. Be the best man you can be. Get the best job, be reliable and likable, things like that.

I have never had a single woman tell me her status early, and you can often tell from the rings on her finger without her having to disclose it. I have had married women bring their husbands into the conversation when that wasn't the topic, and I wasn't interested at that point. Earlier i had a married woman act single towards me and then her husband disclosed he was married to her. I was friendly toward her advances without discouraging anything, or at least trying to.

Off topic. Esp when i do not care if they are married or not. There are enough female relatives in my life and their friends. Serious relationships come with risks these days, and especially from men.

This reminds me of an episode of "King of Queens". Doug and his friends are at this bowling alley and there was a new female shoe girl there. She's not pretty so Doug is kind to her just to be nice. The girl takes it the wrong way thinking he's attracted to her when she isn't attracted to him and tries to avoid him at all costs. This is what happens to him, lol

The King of Queens

I used to live in the area where King of Queens is set. I miss it very much!

The fear is not of rejection but of the talk after rejection. Women talk about you to each other after they tell you no. You terrible, atrocious loser, you.

I've been listening to some social commentary videos about why the current younger generation apparently isn't having as much sex as others, or even going out socially.

And no, it's not because I'm trying to promote or advocate casual sex. It's because I was genuinely curious as to why young people today allegedly aren't doing as much of all the things previous generations before them did.

The primary reason given was the advent of social media -- young people no longer to go clubs to dance because they're afraid of being recorded or put on the internet.

Young men don't want to approach women, only be be filmed, "canceled", and shamed on TikTok.

Young women are afraid of being secretly filmed during private settings, which seems to be rampant. (In a work situation, I knew of a young lady who quit out of embarrassment because of a guy she dated filming something without her permission, and shared it with all their co-workers.)

Now of course, we all know God commands sex only within marriage for a reason. But today's society is not only making people afraid to have sex due to public shaming, but it's also making people generally afraid to have anything to do with anyone at all.

Add to this the fact that there is more political and social divide than ever -- people insist on others believing exactly the way they do in order to have anything to do with them -- and its no wonder everyone exists on their own private island.

I think it can even be worse in the Christian community because, although two people might believe in salvation through faith in Jesus, there are a hundred thousand other points they might disagree on (infant vs. adult baptism, for example,) that would cause serious issues.

If one parent insists their child be baptized soon after birth, and the other insists the child must decide on their own, this is not going to promote unity in the marriage -- not to mention the argument over which church they will attend that promotes either belief.

I know most church people will say the husband should lead, so what he says goes.

Personally, if I'm were faced with a relationship that would ask me to compromise or give up too many of the things I believe, I would leave and most certainly not choose to marry.

But that's just me. And I've been in this situation myself, as I was once talking to a Christian guy who stopped talking to me because i wasn't as passionate about certain political views as he was, and because of this, he said I was being lazy.

In the past, standing up for one's beliefs and choosing to go one's own way might have been as available in the past, because women couldn't support themselves like they can now.

Call me an evil feminist or a Jezebel at will, but I know I can support myself, and that I don't have to compromise over certain things that important to me.

I was thinking along the lines of Melita from page 1 who was single for five years without any man asking her out. Five yreas! What is wrong with men? Why don't they approach women? You have no control over their bad habits. They sound like losers.

"Talk like a person" is a matter of opinion. Many "persons" are speaking like AI these days. All I can assure you is, I ain't that.

Lucky for me, I've never met anybody like that.

You mean after you disclosed, first and foremost, that you are single to strangers?
Not really. I abhor victimhood or any type of whining, that's weak and pathetic. It might not be good for man to be alone, but it's never a shame for man to be alone. That rather shows your fortitude.

Hi Beamrider, I totally get that it's annoying when people think you're interested when you aren't, but sometimes it can be really hard to tell what a person's intentions are.

Men these days tend to be very apprehensive about approaching women (understandably), so when a guy does step out of the norm it usually catches us off-guard. And as you illustrated with your example, it caused some issues when a married lady did NOT disclose her status to you right away.

It kinda sounds like you're saying "Don't disclose your status unless I'm actually interested, in which case you need to tell me right away". Most women are just going to punt and tell you right away so that you will have the info. And some husbands would be upset with them if they didn't, so perhaps they are doing it out of respect for their men.

A lot of factors are at play here, I'm just presenting the other side of the coin. 🤓
