The Kerygma - God's Requirement for Salvation

That a sinner, by the will of the Father...convicted by Jesus, place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, who will give them eternal life through the Holy Spirit indwelling them, sealing them for eternity. John 3:16, John 5:24, John 6:40, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10

My God, My God. Why have you forsaken me?

One being, in three substances. Forsake ... doesn’t mean Jesus no longer being God ..or that the Father had left Him. Jesus was crying out in pain, taking on the full weight of sin. In this He would have felt.. I think.. in his humanity.. alone in it. But the main point is He was quoting...

Does Jesus Ever Forgive Those Who Are Not Sorry

Repent is a 'change of mind, heart'... not a work of effort in reducing sin before being born again. It's going from unbelief in Jesus...to belief in Him. Then the object of the belief...Jesus..as God.. sets your sin slate clean by His payment for your sin. Reducing sin comes in the daily...

What Does "Born of Water" Mean?

Flesh is flesh, Spirit is Spirit. Flesh was what being born of water is compared to in this passage. That is what Nicodemus meant.. being born of the mothers womb. Jesus did not correct Nicodemus but added being born again by the Spirit. The comparison that water does not equal amniotic fluid...

What Does "Born of Water" Mean?

Yea, no one is saying don't get water baptised. But to know that it is something you do because, 'for' the fact of already being saved eternally. You don't have to do it as part of salvation, but it is the right thing to do after salvation. That is what early Christians did. Straight away...

    Can I say YHWH?

Critics of the OT, when they see the different names of God, think that it's not just one writer of each book. So for eg.. Lord, Jehovah, YHWH, Yahweh.. they assume are different writers putting the names in. What they miss is that each time a different name is used, it is emphasizing a...

    Christ is God

I've heard from Unitarian and jw types say when Jesus refers to the Father, and in other passages referring to the Father. That it's referring to an unequal..separate being. What this ignores, is Jesus having the same power as the Father and claiming equality with the Father. I don't see...

    American Christianity

Well the unity described in the New Testament is always focused in unity within a local NT church. All the letters sent to the churches. So the thrust for unity would ideally start with each church individually. There will not be unity in this chat site or most other forums, because...

Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord

Context is of false prophets who are not believers in the 'Lord, lord, .... ' verse. Like wells without water. Putting perfume on a corpse.

    Works and Salvation

Repentance is a 'change of mind, heart'. Before salvation.. we can't 'turn from sin' as a behaviour. We can't do any kind of good deeds that would lead to salvation. Why? Because before salvation, a person is dead in sin. They have no redemptive merit in just being human. So.. when someone...

    Question

Compare this binding and loosing with other scripture about the same subject and it is about local church discipline. God approving a process in a church of dealing with sin issues in a setting of 2 or 3 members gathered together to sort it out. So the binding and loosing is about the process...

Perfectionism, might be the problem, when It is done for us in Son to us

Overcoming a sin problem isn't by focusing on the sin, but Jesus and His Word. Confess the sin.. yea.. but trying to fight it by your will power will always end in either inflating yourself because you overcome it yourself .. which is sin anyway.. or being in despair because you can't brake it...

What? is it true God took away sin on that cross or not?

I agree with this. If you can lose salvation though, this fleshly body is going to keep sinning after conversion. That's why Jesus forgives sin..completely..past present and future.. because the good things we do never outweigh are fleshy, sinful selves. Like someone boasting that they read...

    Loss of salvation???

It always comes up in these threads of the accusation ...'if I'm always saved I can do whatever I want' This is ignoring God's discipline of His children. It's thinking carnally. Wouldn't you be amazed at being given unconditional love through the free gift of salvation?
