    What is a church?

Early christians practiced re-baptism. Especially people who were Roman Catholics, wanting to get back to sola fide and rejecting their rituals. They would find a christian community of ana-baptists and join them.. getting re-baptised. Ana-baptists is a broad term.. and covers a wide range...

    What is a church?

I was raised Methodist and baptised in that as charismatic Methodist. I was re-baptised from a pastor in an independent Baptist church. The baptism in the Methodist church I had very little idea what I was doing and their teaching was wonky.

He that believes and is not water baptised is saved

No..an unbeliever shouldn't get baptized. But its Jesus' regeneration thru the Holy Spirit that saves.. for the unbeliever, not getting immersed in water.

    What is a church?

Mainly the situation of someone saying for example .. this site is their 'church ' ..or two or three Christians gathered randomly..for any purpose..is 'the church' ..or putting the radio on to hear a sermon on a Sunday morning.. is 'church'. These may be nice things to imagine..but not how...

    What is a church?

No.. I'm challenging the idea that every believer is somehow 'the church'.

    What is a church?

Well all believers.. could be conceived as a body.. but that isn't how the bible defines the body of Christ. It's local in Matthew 16:18-- because it is local in Mathew 18: 18-20. It is local in Ephesians, because the letter is to the church at Ephesus.. as an example to other churches...

    Loss of salvation???

Hebrews 6 has earlier context of believers being admonished to go on to maturity, leave elementary principles. That's what is late in Hebrews 5. So..'Fall away' in Hebrews 6 isn't 'lose eternal life' .. but fall away from going on to maturity. And since the Hebrews were going back to old ways...

    Not By Works

Oh DC is no longer on this site, but I can put in my two cents. James has context of believers who already have faith and are using it for the profit of someone else. This is what happened with Abraham, Rahab, etc.. So if Abraham wasn't prepared to offer his son up as a sacrifice..he would...

    Contradictions in the Bible?

Yea, I notice quite a few threads where this happens. You get posters directly replying to the op and then nothing comes back.

    Contradictions in the Bible?

I was wondering whether Goliath was also a descriptive then. So that Goliath in one case is the name of the person, but in another case it's describing the type of aggressor. Probably not the case.. if Goliath became a descriptor of a huge person a while after this.

    Contradictions in the Bible?

I'm independent fundamental Bible Baptist as far as labels go. But the main thing is taking scripture as it is. Not trying to impose on it your own agenda. Like with an agnostic or atheist critiquing the bible. They assume supernatural can't happen before studying so chop scripture into pieces...

    Contradictions in the Bible?

Yea..I agree with Magenta. One person could have wrote from a point of what was happening and said 'I left my car there' Another could say , John's car wasn't there in the evening. Well that would mean it was there at a different time:)

    Contradictions in the Bible?

Guess it would be more accurate to say God emphasized different parts of Himself in each account

    Contradictions in the Bible?

If one account says such and such a person is there, but the other account does not report them there... it does not mean they weren't there. It means the eyewitness either didn't see the person there (but they were there) .. or the eye witness was focused on a particular person or group of...
