    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Did Jesus say anything else about him and his father? There is only one true God, and that is what Catholics are talking about. Catholics do not say that everything that Muslims say about God is true.

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

If you are asking if I believe that the true God rejects Jesus as God, then no, I do not believe that. No the Jews that Paul is talking about at the beginning of Romans chapter 10 do not believe that Jesus is God. That is part of their lack of knowledge. But, this lack of knowledge does not...

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Yes, those are all great philosophical questions. Another philosophical question is, "Can you step into the same river twice?" Heraclitus said no. "No man ever steps in the same river twice" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heraclitus So he would probably say that no two people worship the...

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Well first off, CCC 841 doesn't say that Muslims worship Jesus. If your response is that Jesus is God, then I say that yes, Jesus is God. However, Jesus is not all of who God is. Thus it is possible to worship God and not accept Jesus, especially if one is blinded or not really informed about...

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Well, hang on there. "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge." It doesn't say that they have a zeal of God, but not the true God. That the translator believes that Paul is talking about the true God is clear from God being capitalized. It does say...

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

I'm not sure why you're saying that. Luke has many parables that Matthew does not. And I believe Matthew has some the Luke does not.

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

I'm not sure if I'm following you here or not. Mark 5: 41 Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, "Talitha cumi!" which means, being interpreted, "Girl, I tell you, get up!" The meaning of "Talitha cumi!" seems to be handled just fine by the Greek which translates into English as...

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Well, as I read this sentence "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge." The phrase "but not according to knowledge" modifies the zeal that they have of God, but not the fact that they have a zeal of God. It might be easier to see in a simpler...

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

Which Greek manuscript are you referring to? Is it available online?

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

I don't yet except that it is a fact that the original was not in Greek. But it looks like you have an additional post after this so I'll check it out!

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

Thanks for your answer! I just ask because many people say that Ignatius endorsed the idea that the bread and wine of communion are the actual body and blood of Jesus. Not very many people here on Christian chat have that view of the Eucharist.

That's okay, ponder the question for as long as you want!

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Well, the translator wrote Romans 10: 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. So that would mean that Jews actually have a zeal for the true God, they don't just think that they do. Would you agree with that?

    Catholicism vs Protestantism

Are you saying it is possible to want to serve the true God and reject Jesus at the same time?

Do you mean "they" as in the King James translators? Or "they" as in the Jews?

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

So, as a follow-up, do you follow all the teachings of Ignatius and polycarp?

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

    I disagree that that's a necessary conclusion.

    Can you Spot the Trinity?

Do you have a reference for this? I had heard that Ignatius was a disciple of polycarp, and polycarp was a disciple of John the apostle. But it was a long time ago, maybe I'm misremembering.
