Just FYI, you can't have the 1st trumpet sounding until the seals have been opened and completed , which hasn't happened yet. The result of the 4th seal will be a fourth of the earth's population being killed, which based on 7 billion people, would be 1.7 billion fatalities and that during the first 3 1/2 years of that last seven year period. Needless to say, that hasn't happened yet. The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments are not going to be passive plagues of wrath that go unnoticed in the background of history, but will have everyone's attention, as they are meant to.
The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments will be the result of the Rock falling on the feet of the statue described in Dan.2:31-45. And the result of the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments is also found in the prophecy of Zephaniah:
"I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth, says the Lord. I will sweep away people and animals alike. I will sweep away the birds of the sky and the fish in the sea. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble,and I will wipe humanity from the face of the earth, says the Lord."
The 1st seal, the rider on the white horse, represents the revealing of that antichrist and he has not yet been revealed. Therefore, no other seal, trumpet or bowl judgment can take place until that 1st seal is opened. But you are correct in that, we should always be watching and ready for the Lord's return to gather his church.

The 6 trumpets are 6 disasters,or warnings,that occur at the time there is advanced travel,and advanced technology,so the world knows about these disasters,but after each trumpet the world still cooperates with each other to establish peace on earth,and do not repent of their evil ways,and turn to God.
After the 6th trumpet where nuclear weapons are launched,and a third of the population of the world dies,they still do not turn to God,so God gives them the beast to rule over them,which all who do not love God will follow the beast kingdom,in which they will make war against the saints,and shall destroy the holy and mighty people,and when they shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people,then the 7th trumpet blows,the resurrection of the saints.
God always gives warnings before He is going to crack down on the wicked,a chance to get right and turn to Him,but if they do not after a certain amount of time,then He cracks down on them.
The 6 trumpets is that warning to the world to turn to Him,and that they do not have the capability to solve their problems,and achieve peace without God,which they are cutting out of the picture.
That is why the Bible says when they say Peace and safety,then sudden destruction comes upon them,for then it will get chaotic with people leaning on themselves to achieve peace on earth,but cannot do it,until a war breaks out that involves the whole world,a 200,000,000 men army against the world,the religion of Islam,that fights a holy war against the world,because of the unified religious system,and nuclear weapons devastate the Arab nations,which the world will be split in to ten sections with a leader in each section,the ten horn kingdom,and the last king plucks up three of those horns by the roots.

We have not seen a third of the creatures over all the oceans killed, nor a third of the ships over all the earth destroyed.
We have not seen something like a huge torch falling to the earth and contaminating a third of the rivers and fresh water so that many people die from drinking it.
We have not seen the sun, moon and stars darkened by a third so that the earth only receives two thirds of its normal light both day and night.
We have not seen demonic beings released from the Abyss to torment the inhabitants of the earth with tails and stings like that of scorpions.
We have not seen the results of the four evil angels and their demonic army of 200 million having killed a third of the earth's population with fire, smoke and sulfur.
We have not seen the results of Satan and his angels being cast down to the earth which is the 7th trumpet/3rd woe.
In answer to your question, we must refer back to scripture and realize that these seven trumpet plagues of wrath, along with the seals and bowl judgment, should be interpreted at face value, making room for metaphors and symbolisms of course and looking for the literal meaning behind them.
Unless the events of wrath listed above have taken place, then the trumpets could not have possibly taken place. The only way that some make the claim of them being fulfilled is by allegorizing them or by assigning them to past historical events and by doing so they take away the severity and magnitude of God's wrath. Yet regarding the last 3 1/2 years of that seven year period, referred to as "the great tribulation" Jesus said that it would be a time of great tribulation such as the world has not seen from the beginning, until now and never to be equaled again. And if those days of wrath were allowed to go on any longer than the specified time, there would be no one left alive on the earth.

We will not see the demonic horsemen (locusts) because they were on the earth during the great day of the Lord in the times of Joel.

Actually, what you are reading in Joel is regarding the future, which may be synonymous with the 5th trumpet. Just because it is mentioned in Joel doesn't mean that prophecy has already taken place. The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments are future, end-time events leading up to the Lord's return to the earth to end the age and establish his millennial kingdom. The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments is how God is going to carry out his wrath. In Rev.16, Jesus makes it very clear that at the pouring out of the 6th bowl, he will not have yet returned to the earth, but does so after the 7th bowl is poured out.
The day of the Lord has not yet taken place. The words "NEITHER SHALL THERE BE ANY MORE AFTER IT, EVEN TO THE YEARS OF MANY GENERATIONS" is speaking of the time of God's wrath when it takes place in the future. The day of the Lord will continue right up to the time that Jesus returns to the earth to end the age. The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments are not meant to passively take place in the background of history, but will have everyone's attention. No one will have to ask whether or not the tribulation is taking place, for it will be very apparent.

When the 6th trumpet is sounded, the scripture states that those angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates are released to kill a third of mankind. The scripture says, "those angels" and their 200 million troops kill a third of mankind, not men killing men, but "angels" killing mankind. The army that they gather are demonic beings and not the army of the kings of the east as some have erroneously claimed. The 6th trumpet is going to be an army of 200 million demonic beings who will kill a third of mankind.

I think that you mistakenly responded regarding the 5th trumpet instead of the 6th trumpet. My response was regarding the 6th trumpet regarding those four angels and their 200 million troops. Your response is regarding the 5th trumpet and those demonic beings that come up out of the Abyss. But, since you brought it up, if we look at the entire context of the 5th trumpet, at first look it appear that they could be flying machines, but the rest of the context would not support that theory. What I mean is 1) an angel releases these things from out of the Abyss and 2) it is stated that they have a king over them, which is the angel of the Abyss. In addition, when that angel opens the Abyss, smoke comes out of it like a giant furnace.
The Abyss that these demonic beings come out of, is the same place where those demonic beings collectively called "Legion" begged Jesus not to send them into as described in Luke 8:30. I don't know of any helicopter bases in the Abyss that would be billowing with smoke and with an angel as their commanding officer, do you?

Just FYI, The context reveals that it is angels killing a third of mankind, not mankind killing mankind. Someone at sometime came up with the idea that the 200 million are the kings of the east. But there is nothing in the context that supports the 200 million troops as being the kings of the east.
Also, how many horses do you know of that have fire, smoke and sulfur issuing from their mouths?

After the 4th trumpet and prior to the 5th trumpet , a warning is issued regarding trumpets 5,6 and 7 as being "Woes." I personally believe that the reason that they are referred to as "woes" is because the last three trumpets are each demonic in nature.
5th trumpet = Demonic beings released from the Abyss to torment with tails and stings like scorpions
