"Bans" thread just got nuked...........

Just my opinion but he was the only one that should have lost posts. Everyone tried to engage him and he insulted each by turn no matter how nice they were to him. I try the direct approach usually when I see someone insulting everyone. There is no need for it. Im surprised he's still here and I dont know why he'd want to still be here.

The ranking from Junior Member to Member to Senior Member is based on total number of posts, not time on site in which case some users who have been around for years who predominantly hang out in chat will still show as Junior Members.

Due to some recent changes the Moderators can edit posts and remove problem threads and even ban persons from chat, but now only persons with Admin access can permanently ban someone from the site. Unfortunately the blowup on that thread took place while I was at work so one of the Mods pulled the thread but the ban had to wait until I got home from work a little bit ago.

Usually we try to clean up threads that go south like that so users don't lose their post count but unfortunately when there are over 20 pages of posts to edit it becomes impractical. Unfortunately once a thread is pulled off the public forums (which we try not to do) the posts in it officially cease to exist (even though the thread still exists in non-public archives).

Several months ago I had to pull the Streams thread from singles due to a troll tearing it up but I was willing to spend about two hours cleaning that one up so that it could go back up solely because I wasn't going to kill a multi-year thread with tens of thousands of posts because one jerk tore it up for a day.
