I've looked into that kind of study before. Tbh I reject it because it suggests that God has no power over what happens with the Bible and is not able to preserve it.
People in the NT also call Jesus Lord, He didnt seem to find issue with it, except in cases when they were walking rebelliously but called Him Lord and Master.

The truth is preserved.

Every translation is not perfect, they have a gay bible now. Just because there are faulty translations does not mean truth is not preserved. To be honest in most of the Bible prefaces they admit they are on non-sense.

The English Revised Version - Preface
"It has been thought advisable in regard to the word "JEHOVAH" to follow the usage of the Authorised Version, and not to insert it uniformly in place of "LORD" or "GOD," which when printed in small capitals represent the words substituted by Jewish custom for the ineffable Name according to the vowel points by which it is distinguished. It will be found, therefore, that in this respect the Authorised Version has been departed from only in a few passages, in which the introduction of a proper name seemed to be required."

Good News Translation Bible - Preface
"Following an ancient tradition, begun by the first translation of the Hebrew Scriptures (the Septuagint) and followed by the vast majority of English translations, the distinctive Hebrew name for God (usually transliterated Jehovah or Yahweh), is in this translation represented by “LORD.” When Adonai, normally translated “Lord,” is followed by Yahweh, the combination is rendered by the phrase “Sovereign LORD.”

Holman Christian Standard Bible - Preface
"The Tetragrammaton occurs 6,828 times in the Hebrew Bible. Nearly all English versions follow the ancient tradition of rendering the Divine name as “the Lord.”

Mattithyah 15:2-3, "Why do Your disciples transgress the traditions of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat. But He answered, and said to them: And why do you transgress the Laws of Yahweh by your traditions?"

I have to say... I dont think the Messiah is going for "ancient tradition":

Mattithyah 23:39, "For I say to you: From this moment you will not see Me, until you say: Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of Yahweh!"

On the Day of Pentecost, the apostles spoke in the languages of the Parthians, Medes and Elamites, and to the people of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene. [Acts 2:9, 10]. The Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ was made known in every language in such a way that everyone could understand, not just one language. Jesus’ name is “Lord of Salvation” and is interpreted as such in every language.

Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to speak the Hebrew language only. The name of Jesus is pronounced differently in many languages. We know Him as Jesus through English translations of the Greek New Testament. The Hebrew language is not of any more value than other languages. We are told to call upon the name of the Lord who is our Salvation.

It is typically people of Jewish background who emphasize the Hebrew background of Jesus and therefore proclaim that we should only use the Yeshua rather than Jesus. I agree it’s helpful to understand history and concepts, but referring to the Lord as Yeshua is not necessary. To use the name Yeshua does not make you a more spiritual or holy person. We call upon the name of the Lord in many languages: Hebrew, Greek, English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Mandarin, Arabic, German, Russian, Portuguese, or any other language.

The Sacred Name Movement began in the 1930’s, stemming from the Church of God (Seventh Day). They teach that we should only use YHWH for God and Yahshua for Jesus. Any other name is blasphemy, so they say. They teach that we are to obey Old Testament Law, Jewish festivals, 7[SUP]th[/SUP] day Sabbath, etc.

They err in that they believe the Lord Jesus came to expand Judaism or the Old Covenant. The truth is that the Savior came to fulfill the Old Covenant and establish the New Covenant. Jesus’ death and resurrection fulfilled ALL the requirements of the Law and freed us from its demands. [Romans 10:4 – Galatians 3:23-25 – Ephesians 2:15] A fulfillment, NOT a continuation of old Hebrew laws!

The authors of the Old and New Testaments wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and had no issue calling God Elohim (Hebrew) and Theos (Greek) and referring to God’s Son as Iesous (Greek). If the writers inspired by the Holy Spirit could call Jesus by a Greek name, why is it wrong to use English language to call our Father “God” and our Messiah “Jesus”? How can it be wrong to speak His name in ANY language?

The Sacred Name Movement is absolutely unbiblical and promotes false doctrine. Our salvation is not dependent on our ability to properly pronounce God’s name in Hebrew. Our relationship with God is not based on our obedience to the Old Covenant that Jesus has already fulfilled. Be warned! This is a slippery slope that is being propagated and has the power to cause Christians to be caught up in legalism.

In addition:
Yeshua is the Hebrew name, and its English spelling is “Joshua.” Iesous is the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name, and its English spelling is “Jesus.” Thus, the names “Joshua” and “Jesus” are essentially the same; both are English pronunciations of the Hebrew and Greek names for our Lord. For examples of how the two names are interchangeable, see Acts 7:45 – Hebrews 4:8 in the KJV. In both cases, the word Jesus refers to the Old Testament character Joshua.

Revelation 13:6, "And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against Yahweh, to blaspheme His Name..."

YHWH was removed from the "OT" manuscripts by the adding of vowel points around 600ad, the ban on speaking it predates that by a long time.

They were mad about this:

The Jewish Encyclopedia of 1901, Volume 11, page 353
SIMEON THE JUST: High priest. He is identical either with Simeon I. (310-291 or 300-271 b.c.), son of Onias I., and grandson of Jaddua, or with Simeon II. (219-199 b.c.), son of Onias II... After Simeon's death men ceased to utter the tetragrammaton aloud (Yoma 30b; Tosef Sotah. xiii.).

Revelation 13:6, "And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against Yahweh, to blaspheme His Name..."

The agenda goes way back to the pharisees, the Catholic Church does uphold this ban out of respect for the pharisees/rabbis

Yeremyah 23:26-27, "How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Yes, they are prophets of the deceit of their own minds plan and scheme, to cause My people to forget My Name through their dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbor, just as their fathers have forgotten My Name for Baal."

"But such pronunciation violates long-standing Jewish tradition, the Vatican reminded bishops."

Vatican Says No 'Yahweh' In Songs, Prayers At Catholic Masses

While im not condemning any who don't know the name of Yahweh, it is a right thing to promote and use His Name, well, if you ask Him; a few random verse about this topic, there are many many more

Isayah 42:8, "I am Yahweh, that is MY NAME; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."

Micahyah (Micah) 4:5, "For all people walk each in the name of his god (430 - elohim), but we will walk in the Name of Yahweh (3068 - Yhvh) our Father forever and ever."

Revelation 3:12, "He who overcomes, I will make a pillar in The House of My Father, and he will never go out of it. And I will write upon him the Name of My Father, and the Name of the New Yerusalem which comes down out of heaven from My Father, newly named."

Psalm 103:1, "Bless You Yahweh, O our souls! And all that is within us bless Your holy Name!"

Psalm 105:1, "Give thanks to Yahweh! Call upon His Name! Make known what He has done among the nations!"

Isayah 47:4, "Our Redeemer, Yahweh of hosts is His Name, the Holy One of Israyl!"

Yeremyah 32:18, "Who shows lovingkindness to thousands, and recompenses the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them--the Great, the Mighty Father! Yahweh of hosts is His Name!"

Psalm 135:13, "Your Name, O Yahweh, endures forever! Your memorial, O Yahweh, is for all generations!"

Psalm 111:9, "You sent redemption to Your people; You have commanded Your covenant forever. Holy and Reverend is Your Name."

Yeremyah 33:2, "This is what Yahweh says Who made the earth, Yahweh Who formed it to establish it--Yahweh is His Name:"

You are bundling many into a group they do not belong IMO.

I want to say, personally I love the Name Yahshua/Yahushua because it's in the Name. It's so beautiful.

Yah = YHWH

Shua = Salvation

Matt 1:21, "And she will give birth to a Son, and you will call His Name YAHSHUA ; (Yahweh is Salvation); for Hewill save His people from their sins "

I'm curios why there are so many here who say "Lord" in place of His name instead of doing as we are told to do.
Do you not know His name?

Psa 22:22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee

Psa 102:21 To declare the name of YHWH in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

Isa_12:4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise YHWH, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

Zec 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, YHWH is my Elohim.

Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of YHWH shall be saved.

Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the assembly will I sing praise unto thee.

So you are saying the Bible is wrong? A name means what it is put into it. When thinking of the name Jesus people certainly do not think of some pagan god, or if using Lord. It is ok if people what to use Yashua or other names but, to force it upon others saying it is a matter of salvation is wrong.

Laodecia, I would strongly suggest you read the entire thread before making such a statement.
There is a lot going on concerning certain groups of man attempting to hide the names of Yah and causing others to be deceived by a lack of knowledge or understanding.

Some call what those who proclaim the name of Yah to be a sect, unbiblical, and false doctrine, that they might keep hold to the commandments and tradition of man, causing people to forget the name of Yah for Ba'al, as it was written of old, and even continues to this day.

Here is MY opinion. I totally see why people in the other forums complain about arguing and a spirit of evil dissension in here.. They actually WARN newbies to avoid this forum!!! What the heck kind of example is that setting for people?!!!!!!!!!!!! A pretty poor one, IMO. But one to be totally expected from the bible forum pharisees. You know who you are. As for me, thank God I CAN call him God, and not some alien foreign name such as yahushua!!! JMO..

That's it! No salvation for you!;) LOL, you remember that Seinfeld episode with that soup guy? Hilarious.

Aw, my dear LadyBlue, reading the Epistles we see that contentions have been the reason/purpose for pretty much every author of them to write them. It's been from the time that Christ came. Jesus was constantly having to contend and then all of His disciples and apostles were in constant contending for truth and having to weigh out what needed to be straightened out. It will never end until we're ALL in our glorified body.

But as far as Forums go - I think this has been the best that I've been a part of. It takes TIME to get to know each other and time to get the feel of what's important enough to 'go after' and what is not. In other words, to know how to pick one's battles.

I've been on more forums than I could keep count of. Most I still have an active membership on but I only stayed 3 months on average and just could not relate and left. Two I was banned from. One for coming against "midrash" and the other for seeing/knowing that the owner & his chosen Mods were WAY TO STRICK and we could barely discuss Any topic - and it became more and more eccumenical ... so now there are few posters there. :( It could have been a Great site - but .... sincerely sad now.

Contentions are inevitable - but they do help us grow in grace. I've grown more through forum experiences than by any other online or book experiences. I've seen my faults more with interacting with those I disagree with than by any other means. We see what fruit of the spirit we lack and get reminded daily to love [even our enemies] through these discussions.
Also to learn the principles that Paul tried to teach us of "becoming all things to all men" [which I do believe you of all people have learned the art of very well] ... you can make me laugh no matter how heated things get and that's a 'gift' and asset to this forum.
But the other is to not get tooooooooo involved if it is not a Salvational issue - as this thread is. Doesn't matter what we call Him - and I for one even like to hear how is Name is translated in other countries -- like Africa's "Yesu"... I love that - just for one. The Spanish Name for Jesus sounds more like the Greek -- and so on.

But I think I'm thinking about Romans 14 the most - besides the "becoming all things to all people" as Paul wrote.
Romans 14 is a good one that I'd like to hang on.

I have recommended this site and I don't understand how anyone wouldn't. As contentious as we get - I see the 'freedom of expression and speech' here to be healthy and for that, I am most appreciative of.
I also enjoy seeing us that disagree to stick a "like" on those who we have strongly disagreed with - when we do agree with something in particular that we Do agree with. That's love and forgiveness and I believe - Blessed of our Father in Heaven.

You are loved here and anybody that keeps people away from this place, needs to truly visit a 100 other forums for at least 6-8 months before they judge this one cuz no joke -- I've traversed the whole of cyberspace either lurking or joining literally more than I can keep a numerical count of.

Ah, but that's just me, Sister. But I know I'll see most in the Kindon of Heaven one day. :D And "we'll understand it all by and by".

ChristIsGod,

what a wonderful post, you are very insightful as well as a peace-maker.

the wisdom that you have gained from all of your (cyber-space-searches)
culminates in = understanding human-nature in depth and the necessity
to rise above it, if we are to walk as Jesus Christ.

the constant (pull) of the Spirit against the flesh and the flesh against the Spirit,
is something that we all need to be aware of (ever-present) and to remember that
we have to let the Spirit of God win the 'tug-of-war' moment to moment -
the 'words' we type for the world to see bear witness of the
intention of our heart, whether it be good or evil.

I'm curios why there are so many here who say "Lord" in place of His name instead of doing as we are told to do.

Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the assembly will I sing praise unto thee.

Brother Chopper,
First of all, thank you once again for "being that light" and for sharing your testimony of God's healing power in your life as seen here.......

That being said,.......
God knows His name brother, there is no other God who will hear us when we cry out except Him. He has allowed us to preach the Gospel in Aramaic,Hebrew,Koine Greek,Latin,English and in several other languages since the Resurrection. If it was not for Him doing this and allowing it; it would not be. He would have gave strict requirements to continue using the same original languages in both the verbal and written Gospel of our Salvation since it went out into the world in (Koine Greek and Aramaic).

If our Father God (Abba El) in heaven has given us freedom to worship Him through His only begotten Son Jesus (Yahoshua) Christ (The Messiah) in our own native tongue we should not hinder the Gospel that is proclaimed in other languages just to make sure we properly promote His original names. It's good to pray as God has led all of us. He will give the knowledge of His name to whoever He pleases but to those who know Him under a different name, let them worship as they are led to do by God.

I understand this topic and have seen this many times. What you people are saying is that the Bible is wrong and everytime you quote the Bible that has the names, God, Lord Jesus etc rather than quote the Bible as is you replace those names and put the Hebrew name. So you are saying the Bible is wrong by teaching this and doing this and telling others they are wrong by using, God or Lord or Jesus.

When you think of the name Jesus what do you think of? A false pagan god or Jesus of the Bible? The gospel goes to all languages and God wants us to use our own language. You people who teach this would prefer we all speak Hebrew. Do you think it is a matter of salvation by using the names you are saying? Yes or No?

First of all, I am not saying the Word of Yah is wrong, but what I am saying is there was an intentional removal of the names of Yah from the reprinted editions of His Word by man, that we might not know His name. This is the very reason you see the TITLES of "God" and "Lord" where it SHOULD be His NAME. Now, if that was done to hide the Fathers' name, especially using a title that is directly associated with Ba'al, I think I'd also be a little bit leery when a name suddenly pops up over 1800 years after we know the Word to have been written.

As far as His Name being a matter of salvation, what does it say?

Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of YHWH.

Joh 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Yahushua is the Messiah, the Son of YHWH; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of YHWH shall be saved.

1COR. 14:25.

And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face
he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

Amen, He has to do it and When He Returns - not before while the languages were changed by Him since Babel.
Only He can undo what He's done.
Though we have an International language now which is man's attempt to undo what was done By God since Babel and this man made international language is basically computer language and/or English -- though computers now have Translators - it's not the spoken International language as English/American is.

He's said we need to 'wait' until He undoes the babble-on when His feet land on the Mt. of Olives and reclaims Jerusalem and the entire earth from those that believe they own this planet.

:p tongues to them! Eveybody sing: "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands......... "

Enjoyed your explanation of this. What's most pernicious, beyond the nonsense about names that aren't even in the New Testament Greek, is you almost always find the sacred names bait on the hook of these Hebrew roots cults leading to a denial that Jesus Christ fulfilled the law, rather that He expanded legal bondage. This is a completely false gospel. It leads to a so-called "faith" that doesn't even exist, is not Judaism, and is not Christianity. It's also reprehensible how they question the Bibles of hundreds of millions as being mistakes, and, therefore, accuse the Lord of being unable to preserve the very gospel. Frankly, they're the most ridiculous cults I've come across, so far off the reservation of truth.

As stated on anohter thread...
Here's a quote from a site on this very topic since you claim that Iesous is the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name, which is actually impossible to be a transliteration, considering transliterations are translationg how a name sounds from one language to another...
Iesous in Greek
by Rav Sha'ul

So Yahshua is English for the Hebrew name of the Messiah (anointed King of Israel) and Jesus is the name of the Greek “good man” or Chistos. It is that simple. But what does “Iesous” mean in Greek. It has no meaning in Hebrew; as it is not a Hebrew word. In Greek, “Iesous” literally translated means “Hail Zeus”. The name “Jesus” didn’t even exist until the 4[SUP]th[/SUP]Century and was a later derivative of the late Latin Isus.
“It is known that the Greek name endings with sus, seus, and sous were attached by the Greeks to names and geographical areas as means to give honor to their supreme deity, Zeus."
Dictionary of Christian Lore and Legend

"This name of the true Messiah, Jahshuwah (Jehoshua), being Hebrew, was objectionable to the Greeks and Romans, who hated the Judeans (Jews), and so it was deleted from the records, and a new name inserted. Jahshuwah (Jehoshua) was thus replaced by Ie-Sous (hail Zeus), now known to us as Jesus."
-The Origin of Christianity
by A.B. Traina

"It is simply amazing to think that all these years, hundreds of years, mankind has been calling the Saviour by the wrong name!! It's hard to give up the name of Jesus because it's so deeply ingrained in us and much has been said and done in that name."

"In the 1611 KJ New Testament the name Yahshua appeared originally wherever the Messiah was spoken of. Yahshua means “Yahweh is Salvation”. Later the Messiah's name was replaced with Iesus (Greek) which later in the 1600's it became Jesus starting with the new English letter "J" which was introduced at that time. Further, the Greek "Iesus" comes from the name Zeus, the ruling God in the Greek pantheon."
-Gospel of The Kingdom
True Names and Title

We see in historical documents that the name “Jesus” did not even come into existence until the 1600’s when the letter “J” was introduced into our English language. So the name “Jesus” is only around 400 years old! The Greek "Iesus" comes from the name Zeus, the ruling God in the Greek pantheon. "Jesus” is a transliteration of a Latin name only ONE letter off “Ioesus”pronounced hey-sus - which has no meaning in Hebrew, but in Latin it means “Hail Zeus”. If Yahshua’s name had been transliterated into our language, it would have been Joshua. If the name was treated properly using the compound naming conventionYHVH intended it would be YAH(weh)(ye)SHUA shortened to “Yahshua” using the short contracted form maintaining the meaning of the name and fulfilling prophecy that the Messiah “came in the NAME of YHVH”.
If the name was handled properly in Greek by the uninspired pagan scribes, it would hold true to the “meaning” of the name as given by the Angel to Joseph and Mary; then “shua” or salvation would have been translated “soterion or soter” not “sous”. So we see a gross mis-handling of the Messiah’s name at best but when you look back in history we see a Hyalinization of the name with the intent to give glory to the pagan god Zeus.
One simply would need to open up their Greek Lexicon to know the truth behind this; below is the entry from The NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon:
Strong's Number: 4992: soterion, adjective. Meaning saving, bringing salvation he who embodies this salvation, or through whom God is about to achieve it the hope of (future) salvation
The name in Latin of the Messiah therefore would have been something closer to Iesoter or Iesoterion if the intent of the meaning of the name was honored by the Greek and Roman pagan scribes and modern day translators. The name would never have been “Iesous” taking on the suffix of every other Greek name given to give glory to Zeus… “us”.
The reason behind this abomination is clearly seen. The name “Jesus” has the exact same suffix as the name of the Roman Emperor who created it: Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus. “Why” does every word in Constantine’s name end in “us”? It would only stand to reason that the all powerful Emperor would give a name to his new god in his own image with the suffix “us”. After all, Constantine believed himself to be re-incarnated Apollo (the son of Zeus). And he remade the Messiah in his own image then elevated that “image of the false messiah” in the name “Jesus” as god to be worshipped. This act of paganizing the messiah and worshipping an image of a man above YHVH is condemned by Paul in a letter to the church in Rome!
Romans 1
21 Because that, when they knew YHVH, they glorified YHVH not as God (elevating Jesus/Trinity in their hearts as God), neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened (to believe a pagan lie). 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal YHVH for images made to look like mortal man (the image of “Jesus”) and birds and animals and reptiles (signs of The Zodiac).
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore YHVH gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. [SUP]25 [/SUP]They exchanged the truth about YHVH for a lie (pagan Trinity), and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
When we simply take the first step and admit to ourselves the obvious, it becomes abundantly clear both “why” and “how” the name “Jesus” was easily accepted by a pagan population that worshiped Zeus, Hesus, Horus, Krishna, Julius Ceasar and the demi-god son Apollo the god of the sun. To the pagan Romans of their day, the name Iesous (Jesus Christ or JC) looked and sounded almost identical to their god-man Julius Ceasar or (JC). This is true today even in English (Julius / Jesus) even their initials remain the same an have nothing in common with Yahshua the Messiah. The English translation of Yahshua looks nothing and sounds nothing like “Jesus” it is “Joshua” or even truer still Yahshua.
The obvious truth is the Messiah’s name was changed and he was given a name like every other Greek in honor of Zeus. No wonder Yahshua condemns those who “in his name” did all that amazing stuff using the name “Jesus” teaching The Law has been abolished. They never knew him. They literally fell for the false religion of pagan Rome.

As far as CC goes, I most often wonder, anymore, just what Bible discussion? Can one really have a Bible conversation with those who just pervert the gospel? To what end is such a discussion? Do you spend your entire life in an unbeliever's face, bickering with them? Is this profitable? Can you really have anything more than a most shallow conversation about your faith, with those who don't believe in your faith?

That's very interesting, Brother Chopper. I don't doubt anything anymore - I'm getting old enough to find some of the 4 beasts activities in everything.

Whenever one of my nieces or friends, etc., have babies and name their children I love doing the etymology of the names they choose.

I'm on Bing now doing the etymology on all that is in your article here. I knew that the "J" names bothered me personally, without any research into where they came from or being fussy or anything but I know I chose Christ because of what I read means Messiah.

Vell, it's nevva to late to loin a t'ing or two. :D Forgive me, but I love NY's Jewish accents and since my grandparents immigrated into New Yawk - I feel I'm justified in liking any accent that came here - especially Italian, Irish and Russian Jewish, being all three myself, tho 1/2 is the Irish in me.
I'm a mutt and it's no darn wonder why I'm so messed up!
[Well, it makes for a good excuse that I can fall back on anyway]
