False hyper grace teacher Joseph Prince says this....
Quote #19 “Did Jesus die on the cross to free us from committing sinful actions or harboring sinful thoughts? If He did, then allow me to conclude with reverence that He failed." Chapter 5, pages 58-59
But Jesus said this....
John 8:36 "If the Son therefore shall
make you free,
ye shall be free indeed."
Did Jesus fail as Joseph Prince says, or perhaps Joseph Prince does not truly know and believe in the power of God to actually set one free from sin and sinful thoughts?
Jesus did die on the cross to cause us to cease committing sinful acts, and having sinful thoughts, and His blood to wash away all our sins, and start fresh not wanting sin by the Holy Spirit, and if we do sin, repent, and not want sin anymore.
In Isaiah chapter 59 God tells the Jews that it is their sins that separate them from God.
Jesus preached repent, and turn from sin,not wanting it.
God commands all people to repent of their sins, and turn from sins, not wanting sins anymore.
The Bible says love does not think an evil thought, and does not rejoice in iniquity,so love will not sin.
A Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
A Spirit led life will show the characteristics of Christ, and not of the flesh.
Jesus died on the cross,so our sins could be completely washed away, and by our giving up all sin,not wanting sin, knowing that it causes us to not be right with God,we can be led of the Spirit, which a Spirit led life will act like Christ, and not act according to the flesh,in which then they will have a right relationship with God.
It is our sins that separate us from God,whether Old or New Testament, but in the Old they did not have the power to completely accomplish this, not having the Spirit, for the blood of animals could not completely wash away their sins to be able to receive the Spirit, but in the New,Jesus came and shed His blood to wash our sins away completely, allowing us to have the Spirit so we would have the power to be like Christ, and abstain from the lusts of the flesh, and then be right with God.
Jesus came so we could have the Spirit to cease from sin that separates us from God,for sin separates us from God whether Old or New Testament, and the blood of Christ accomplishes that by completely removing our sins,so we start fresh with no sin on our record, and if we are serious, and sincere, that we do not want sin in our life anymore, the Spirit will cause us to accomplish that if we allow the Spirit to lead us,for it is not the flesh having its way,but the Spirit.
The purpose of Jesus is to cause us to have the Spirit,so we could abstain from the flesh that is sinful, for sins separate us from God.
Isa 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
But in the New,Jesus causes us to abstain from sin that separates us from God,by the Spirit, for it is all about giving up sin,for sin separates us from God,and what Jesus did on the cross does not take away the fact that we have to abstain from sin,but He caused us to have the Spirit,so we can abstain from sin.
