My dad was an elder in the church for most of my life... and he always said he wanted to have a brass band at his "going home" celebration. So we played a jazzy version of "When the Saints go Marching In".... there were other songs, as well, but that was the one that everyone walked out to....

This old house once new my children,
This old house once new my wife...............

My Dad and I watched the Book of Eli the month prior to his murder by a "health care" worker at the Clarksburg WV Veterans Administration Hospital.

There was a scene where Denzel Washingtons character found refuge in an empty house as he traveled the country on a mission God gave him to get the King James Bible to the only printing press following WW3. The last song he played before his battery went dead was by Al Green. He then thanked the Lord for what he had. It was a peaceful scene and reminded me of Dad. After Denzel's character Eli finished his mission, he died.

Dad got saved at the dinner table shortly before this. I am oh so grateful. Had I known what the reprobates at the hospital would do to him, I never would have taken him.
On the way home, I stopped at the record store at the mall after closing. The gate was closed,.lights off and the employee just locked the cash register. I asked for this Al Green CD and God answered my prayer through this kind person. I paid for the cd and they handed it through the security gate. I played this song at Dad's funeral.

People that get cremated still have funerals.
I suppose no dirges for you then.
When I first travelled to Europe, after having visited four countries, I was page when I arrive back to Holland, at the airport.
I was given a reply numbere to call. I called, and it was my Canadian uncle with news that my father had died.
I boarded the next available fight to my home in Chicago. There I contated my family in California, and the funeral had already taken place.
Arriving in Los Angeles, I visited my father's grave.
Then, with my siblings, nephes, nieces and Mother present, and having felt great remorse, I made the announcement the because I had missed my father's funeral, I would never attend a funural to honor his name.
I will not have a funeral. God bless you and keep you close always.

Ok, well I don't think many people have a choice, whether to have funeral or not. Your loved ones might decide they need to gather for a funeral for you. But you won't be here, so it won't matter to you and you can't stop them.

There's memorials and tributes for the dead that don't need to be on the day of the funeral.

These days you can pay your respects via zoom/webcam if you can't make it.

Hubby and I have both donated our entire bodies to medical science , so when we die we will b shipped off to the nearest University Hospital and used by surgeons to practice on 😜 .

Wow how do you do that?

If you lived in Tibet, they'll just set your body on a mountain to be devoured by vultures. They call it 'sky burial'
