The laborer's term ended at the end of the day in the parable. Most people do not sign contracts for life setting a specific wage. Also, our financial system is designed to have constant inflation. Usually it is less than the past couple of years.

Are you sure you understood the man correctly.
I understood him. I even asked him about changes in wages over years. He said "no raise in pay. You agreed to a wage when you got hired, you stay at that wage"

Fair enough. Then the employee says, "Okay, I will work elsewhere" and gets another job. Then he has to offer higher salaries to get employees.

A few years ago I got into a discussion with a friend from church, on a social media platform. We got into a discussion of
The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard Matthew 20:1-16. In the parable workers were hired in the morning, noon and late in the day. All the workers got paid the same. My Christian friend, who owns a business, said it means once you're hired and agree to a wage, that's all you get paid, no matter how long you work there. I was shocked and told him that's not what the parable is about. I was even more shocked when other Christian business owners agreed with him. You never know the crazy way some Christians will interpret scripture.

Study to show yourself approved.
what do you think Jesus is teaching ?

Jesus is talking about eternal
Life that’s the reward he has to give us . In the Parable some are hired early and agree to be payed a certain wage for the days work

as the day progresses others come along some at noon , some a few hours before the end of the day .

he the. Explains those who began early and worked all day had by thier own imaginations figured” I’ll get our more than he said he’d pay me, I worked longer than thre others I came later so I’ll get more “

but he explains this to them who have imagined this by thier own self

“So when even was come, the Lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20:8-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s Jesus teaching about his kingdom . And explaining that we are one kingdom whoever belongs to Jesus is going to inherit the eternal Kingdom

there’s no more or no less that he offers if we’re the guy in the cross who believes late as he’s dying for his sins or if we’re David who knew and lived the law from birth ( still later breaking the law ) but he was dedicated from birth

David isn’t going to receive more than what was promised to him , just as those who come later and don’t seem to make such an effort thier whole lives everyone is going to receive the same d we shouldnt expect more than he’s got for us because there is nothing we can imagine that’s going to compare

Jesus has the reward with him we should want everyone to receive the wages of the gospel whether they convert early in life and walk a great path , or whether they make a lot of mistakes and poor choices and the. Later in life they find the lord and repent

we should want everyone from least to greatest to receive the gift of salvstion and should t imagine we have a greater reward coming than the least of us

what do you learn from that parable ?

I was taught as you have shared, that the gift of salvation is the same for everyone regardless of when in life someone comes to Christ. That said, I also like with others have shared about this parable ~ which happens to be my favorite.

yes I was wondering because I wanted to offer a thought that many of the different parables are about the same subjects sort of repetitive to create a pattern of thought in us

whereas some might think each parable is teaching a completely different thing about a different subject. I’m not sure if that makes sense , but if it does , one could see how this would greatly simplify , the complexity of what Jesus is really teaching us in his words that he sent into the world

what I mean is repetition and diversity of example is the best teacher

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles….: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42:1, 3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

…..Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63, 68‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

… Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32, 51‬ ‭

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:23-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭

“And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the apostle Paul

“As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:30-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sorry what I’m saying is it’s a repetitive simple message that Gods been saying all along rather than complex message we need to figure out I’m not sure I’m making myself clear but anyways sorry for the length I think it’s a good thought to consider how repetitive the Bible’s message is for us to hear and believe what God said will give us life

The point of the parable is that every believer receives the same salvation from God, regardless of what time in their life they are converted. Every believer will enter the same kingdom of God, no matter what age they came to know the Lord.

Just tell him that the first verse of that parable says it’s talking about the kingdom of heaven, but we’re in the kingdom of earth.

I don’t think anyone would accept a low-paying salary that never changes under any condition. They might use that job as a stepping stone, but
Classic one for me: Matthew 18:20.. people will interpret as Jesus being 'in the midst' of 2 or 3 christians gathered in ANY situation.
So for example.. christians gathered at a concert-- not church.. not people they know.. just a concert.. and will go 'yeeeah! Where two or three are gathered.. there I am with them.. Jesus is with us MAAAN!' :)

But the context is resolving disputes within a church family.. sinning members. That's the primary application. Jesus is blessing the process of resolving disputes within the church setting, and it is an update of the Deuteronomy process that Israel practiced for resolving disputes.
That’s a spiritual thing. Jesus is present in all true believers. That’s difficult to see at first, but He’s there and doesn’t always talk much. That’s why He said to have faith.

I'm no longer surprised, ever since I found out that some Christians believe that the earth is flat.
They could be either taking the Bible literally to arrive at that conclusion.

Or,they could just be messing with us for fun.
Earth isn't flat. If it were so what?

Which is why the Flat Earth Society thinking there is a vested interest in lying and claiming the earth is round is hogwash. Made so by their own arguments and even mockery of the round earth 'theory'.

Ice wall. 🤣

They were interpreting the parable to mean if you got paid $10 an hour, your pay should never change. If you got a salary of $20,000 a year, 20 year later your salary would be the same.
This was plain stupidity regardless of the parable. There are a lot of employers who are plain stupid.

Yes He is.. but also think about the other role He has as the Comforter, 'in the midst' of the local church assembly.
Are you referring to the Holy Spirit, who is called the Comforter in Scripture?

Reading Isaiah 9:6, it is indicated the Child born to the Virgen is calle the Comforter and Counselor among many other names for God is One.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
