I stopped going to my Church recently because I felt very uncomfortable being around all the couples and families.
Do you guys feel that way?
Are there any singles groups at your Church?
I live in Northern Michigan and am thinking about starting something.
 
It never bothered me about being single. It did occasionally occur to me among so many married couples in the church, but it usually was a momentary thought.

Of course the church one is attending can sometimes play a part in this too.
 
How do I get past that feeling so I can concentrate on what God has for me through the message?
Also I think not having people my age may contribute to the discomfort..well no divorced singles anyways..

I grew up outside of Detroit. My wife and I are driving to Lansing next month to visit my daughter and our 5 grandchildren. I lived there for 10 years until moving to Florida in 1985. I have never been in a church that had a singles group but there is quite a singles group here in this forum with many regular posters.
 
There are very few divorced singles in my congregation. I don't worry too much about that; I got involved anyway, choosing consciously not to focus on my situation whenever possible. I've found that the less I look to my local congregation to fill my "needs", the more I enjoy it there. Of course, I was able to connect with one other fellow who was recently divorced, so I guess that made a difference because even though we didn't connect "at church", we connected often.
 
That's really cool and yes you make a valid point.
I let satan cause a distraction and excuses not be in Church.
 
God doesn't care how you're there:)... He just wants you there...but at the same time He wants His daughter to be happy! I think starting a group is a great idea...there may be others that feel they're being judged or may feel uncomfortable too. Pray about it...often we find God's calling by stumbling through our own experiences sis. It gives us the desire and passion to get it done!
 
I once joined a life group when I was living in Michigan and it was all older men. I was in my 30's and the youngest in the group was probably in his 50's. It was little uncomfortable since I thought it would be nice to be in a group with people in my age group. It ended up as one of best life group as I learned and received plenty from the group. Then, joined another life group, now in California, and it was all women, youngest in her 50's. I really thought it was a mistake. Then, again, decided to stick around and got so much out of it. Realize, and remind yourself again why you are there at church. Sure, it's distracting and you feel alone, conscious. I get it. But at the same time, push those feeling aside just little bit and just focus on why you are there in the first place. You never know what you will get out of it, what you will find by sticking to THE reason you are there.
