So reading the bible and it says if you sin persistently than you are not born of God. I've been struggling with persistent and addictions my whole life if that's the case I am not saved and everything seems rather pointless now

Unsaved people generally do not see themselves as sinners, or concern themselves with whether or not they are saved. Your awareness of sin is Holy Spirit inspired. Being led in such a manner will eventually yield fruit. How resistant are you to following guidance? All of us felt at times that we were regaining control, but such intervals -- usually brief -- were inevitably followed by still less control, which led in time to pitiful and incomprehensible demoralization. <-- That line is from what is known as the Big Book of AA. I realize your problem is not alcohol, and yet the feelings of powerlessness and inability to overcome are the same. Even Paul had a thorn in the flesh. Do you have a male Christian accountability partner? It may help :)

do you love it or do you hate it?

if there was no light in you at all, you wouldn't call it 'sin'

Now that you know you are not saved, you do not need to stay there.

ROMANS 10
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above )

7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I believe that persistent sin that is an addiction could be considered a disease that needs treatment of some sort. Fortunately, God understands the human condition quite well and takes these situations into consideration. The rest of your life is a struggle and that is true for all of us so please know that you're not alone in this. I will say a little prayer for you as it seems that you need a certain measure of comfort. The Holy Spirit will provide this. He is the 'helper' that Jesus spoke about years ago. The Holy Spirit will provide guidance also on how to best proceed with your treatment regimen. The fact that you are discussing this proves that things are not pointless, on the contrary, things will take on great meaning.

Yes indeed I understand that. Another thing is my video game addiction too a lesser extent. I actively avoid games that make me stumble however I play too much. I'm taking a break today but came to the conclusion I have little else to do around here. My porn addiction is much worse obviously since I know it's all sin regardless

I have said this before to you, and I will say it again. I am encouraged and inspired by your transparency. As you know most addicts are just that, not in control. He can and will help you. I believe one hundred percent. Look down the road a bit, imagine God delivering you from ever turning to your addiction again. Can you see how you can offer applicable help and hope, mercy to another because you understand. Many give up on themselves, please do not be one of those. Look to Him, He who is greater, to help you; please also keep looking to find healthy help. Not only for you and your loves, but also for those other addicts who pray to God for help. This is not about just you. You might be just the one God uses to help another. Just imagine showing them the light of Christ, the light of mercy, the light of hope.

Renewal From Sexual Addiction - About R.S.A.
If you are seeking recovery from lust and compulsive sexual behaviors. The cornerstone of recovery from R.S.A. is the power and love of Jesus Christ. Our recovery "house" is built upon the fellowship found in our groups, having a safe place to share our struggles, pain, and victories, the accountability of group, and the mutual support of your Support Team throughout the week.

How do you know if you are effected by R.S.A. We offer the following observations:

We share a common experience of engaging in sexual behaviors which are demoralizing and demeaning to ourselves or another, and which we seem to be unable to stop, even in spite of the adverse consequences to our lives. We have sacrificed relationships, jobs, or our humanity, and yet we continued to engage in these damaging and compulsive sexual behaviors.

God is true though every man be false. This includes each of us, so we must rely on His constance and never look t our own failures otherwise no one would be saved. Be assured, our Lord, Jesus, has don all for each of us. Now the hard part at times is continueing in this faith. Do not worry, the Father has bien us all enough. You will be just fine. Look at Jesus, not at yourself. All love and blessing in Jesus..

I really wish it was all j7st some quick done and over impulse but sometimes it is and sometimes theres a bit of preplanning involved I feel im going to stumble and it gets the no turning back point than I avoid things that can snap me outta it (however if I see something that can it sometimes does snap me out of it.) Its like a Jekyll and Hyde thing and afterwards I have regret and anger at myself 😞
