I don't understand what you mean. I didn't know that Scripture and Creation weren't already harmonious.

They are when harmonized, but I was chiding you because saying "Science has never informed my interpretation of the Genesis account" sounded like you didn't think they are.

Science informs me to view the Genesis account as focused on who created the world and why rather than on how, and how long ago,
and how it operates.
On the other hand, Genesis informs me to view science as focused on how the universe operates rather than on who created it and why (how to be saved).

I truly appreciate your candor. We are all confronted with two objectives in life. Understanding how to make it better (science) and how to make it more meaningful (religion).

The reality is that hard science is very often wrong and hard theology is very often wrong. We can look back at a continuum of both forces and how they interact. More often than we think, our human culture dictates our theology and too often our culture dictates our science. For instance, given that the Hebrew Bible covers about 900 yrs of cultural history and its related theology, usery (charging interest) was forbidden for the 900+ years of the Hebrew experience and the first 1,000 yrs of Christianity. Culture changed and now what was forbidden for 1,900 years is now the norm.

In 1616 Copernicus was under house arrest the rest of his life for claiming that the earth rotated around the sun. He barely escaped execution but Christianity declared his concepts heretical. It was not until 1835 was his name removed from the list of heretics.

The process of theological change as it relates to science has been gradual but accelerating as the public becomes more educated. A worldwide flood exceeding 26,000 ft deep that disappeared in 377 days is difficult for educated people to accept. Like Copernicus, stating the scientifically obvious is a threat to those with the same perspective as the 5,000 yr old Sumerians and their flood story and the same story repurposed around 700 BC in Judea in Genesis.

Jesus said divorce - except of adultery - is not acceptable to God. Yet the divorce rates of Christians and non-Christians are essentially the same, but my bet is you have never heard a sermon addressing the "umbilically" divorced in the congregation. Both are around 30% inside and outside the church.

Cultural shifts happen when we just quit talking about subjects that are no longer culturally acceptable. The Baptist Church split over the issue of slavery. The newly formed Southern Baptists (1845) allowed their missionaries to own slaves. Culturly, they were on the wrong side of history. However, it was not until 1995 (150 yrs later) that they admitted that owning other human being was wrong. Culture changes = theology changes. The powerful Pentecostal movement did not exist until the 20th century. Cultural changes result in theological changes.

My point is, if I have one, is that those who "hold firm" to the theology they were "given" also experience evolution in a theological sense. Once God allow women to be merchandise owned by their fathers and sold to their husbands that could have as much sex outside marriage (with the exception of other married women) as the wanted and as many wives as they could afford. For a married woman to have sex outside her marriage, the penalty was death. We have evolved and so has our "interpretation of the bible." We need to evolve as failed creatures committed to the option of evolving toward the image of our Lord. Perhaps one of the "gifts" we lack is a gift for the obvious.

Perhaps we should cut our predecessors some slack by saying they were right given the revelation/information that was available,
but old concepts need updating/amending to harmonize with new truth.

The OC needed to accept the NC, RC needed reformation as soon as it was papalized/became Inquisitional, and the SBC needed to repent of slavery before it committed that sin based on the Golden Rule.

Christian divorce rates are high because pastors do not teach that God views both divorce and miserable marriage as wrong,
leaving as the only right option working on making the marriage happy/heaven on earth.

Nor do pastors teach how to harmonize Scripture, possibly by viewing the Flood story as allegorical/an OT parable.

What I meant is this.
Science is excellent at describing what is — the measurable, observable features of the world. But it’s not designed to tell us where everything ultimately came from or why it exists at all. Those are questions of origin and purpose, and they belong to a different category of knowing. The opening chapters of Genesis speak in that category. They’re not giving us a laboratory recipe for building a universe; they’re giving us a theological account of God’s intention, order, and sovereignty.

Genesis doesn’t require any scientific background to understand because it isn’t trying to teach physics or cosmology. It’s answering a different set of questions: Who made the world? Why does it exist? What is humanity’s place in it? Science can illuminate the world Genesis describes, but it can’t replace the story Genesis is telling.

More could be said, but that is what I meant.

I agree with what you meant, but I would note that those who think Genesis teaches physics need to acquire more scientific knowledge.

Hinduism from which the New Age religions of the West get their roots, through demon possessed people like Helena Blavatski , teach this kind of evilutionism. One school of reincarnation teaches that you shall be gods, as the serpent told Eve. You shall not surely die.....you will be reincarnated into a higher life form...... evolution.......untill you are in a state of Nirvana or that of godhood. It depend mainly on the thoughts of the new ager since it's an eclectic hodgepodge of beliefs. A friend who attended our services for years finally came out of the closet as a New Ager who believed in infinite universes. The religion is one of self "perfection" and pride.

Then they add terms like metaphysics to make it sound like a science that can be proven through association with observable facts. If you ever heard the antichrist David Ickie, he has a method of deception...
He presents his concept of new age philosophy. Then he convinced his audience with comments about frequencies and light spectrums beyond human perception. His argument to convince the gullible is that since they know there's a spectrum beyond their perception, the other claims he makes, that are also unobservable, must be trusted as facts.
Then he goes into analogies about everything is vibration..
There's the new age "love frequency" that they claim is materialistic. It's all a bunch of hocus pocus disguised in scientific terminology.

Hinduism and other similar beliefs seem to see this similar to Darwin where the creature they are created and the creator they will become have no end as if millions of years from now they may become a creature that does not even exist at the present time.

Unfounded assumptions. Broken logic. We know evolution is true. We use it everyday just by the food we eat. The undefined issue is this: are we created by God or by a system of randomness? I have no problem understanding natural science from an evolutionary point of view. I have no problem believing humans were in some important way created by God. These two perspectives are not in conflict.

One is a study of creation and the other is the power behind creation. One of the defining characteristics of the God of the Bible is that truth is sacred. Truth is about what is both real and what is important. Science, on its best day can only approximate what is real.

The processes of evolution to me demonstrate that God is not done with His creation or His creative processes. If science was anti-God, it would not exist. It is not. It is just the desire of mankind to deal with the natural world. Hypotheses come and go. There is no static "truth" in science. It is a voyage of discovery. So too are our spiritual lives. We are invited by God to evolve from who we were to who God wants us to be. It too is a voyage of discovery. The power of the converted life and its requirement shows we too must evolve into a people closer to the heart of Jesus. The fact that there are thousands of theories about how that is done does not negate the fact that God's call for the evolution of our souls remains.

Perhaps this forum should pay more attention to the evolution God in Christ is demanding of us. Or would we rather divert the conversation away from our holy evolutionary requirement to focus instead on why our understanding of the natural world is wrong.

Biblically, our spiritual, emotional, financial and ethical evolution is the entire story of the bible. We were once A but after our connection to Jesus we now must evolve to B. Is it possible that we resist science based evolution because we also reject Christian evolution? "Jesus loves me just the way I am...." Jesus, "You must take up your cross daily." The entire New Testament details the evolution we are all called to make from our former sinful nature to toward the sinless nature of God.

Here are some waypoints on our daily evolutionary path:

God's call to us is not so much about details of beliefs, but the content of our hearts. If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be restrained; where there is knowledge, it will be dismissed. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside childish ways. Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words.

Thus, we are called to evolve into the kind of human beings Jesus has called us to be. Not on the 1st day but over a lifetime....but change we must.

You may have misunderstood my comment. I am meaning it as in Darwin's theory where the creature evolves from simple single cell organisms to fish, land dwelling creatures, primates then man where it's brain undergoes a transformation from not being able to understand complex thoughts and emotions until it reaches a certain complexity of evolution over millions/billions of years. From your response it seems your meaning that a human's thought patterns would evolve from birth in that a baby needs its diaper changed and to be fed but evolves in understanding over time by first crawling until it can walk and by adulthood evolves into a more complex level of emotion and understanding. In the example of the man evolving from childhood to adulthood though the creature that was created(man) is still the same creature from beginning to end that is created in the image of God and so not the same as the theory suggested by Darwin where a different life form is the end product.

That's a very insightful thought. Similar philosophies are shared among those systems of belief.
They not only contradict the Bible, but also proven laws of science.

2nd Law of Thermodynamics as it applies to entropy is that things naturally go from a state of order towards disorder (entropy increases ).
Macroevolution places the mass and energy of the entire universe in to a spec so small that it "approaches zero"/cannot be measured. Their hypothesis says this matter and energy that came into existence on its own exploded. Ever since, that explosion has been creating more and more complex and orderly matter and energy like human beings.

It creates a sense of a comfortable loop for them I think similar to the guy who does more drugs, so he can work harder, so he can get more money, so he can buy more drugs. In the case of evolution if the man is created in the image of God then the God he is created in the image of is also a product of evolution. As in your other example this would mean that the creator God evolved from a simple organism into a creature capable of creating another life form on a planet that would eventually evolve into a creature that also would eventually evolve into a creator God and create life forms on another planet. Then there would be creator God(s) but one would be the creator of the other creator God(s) and eventually all the other creator god(s) that begat them all would realize that there was only one creator God in the beginning that begat them all. If there is a void and no space time nor gravity there is no creation anymore than if there is no wood nor heat and oxygen there is no fire.

I had to look that up but yep BYU, the Mormons are beginning to embrace Darwin's evolution type thinking.
What I meant to point out was the Mormon belief that you described; but instead of evolving, they had multiple gods populating multiple planets.
Your description reminds me of this short animation....

That is a lot to process. Science as babbling is interesting though highly ironic as you are using a very advanced science to explain why it is just babbling.

Just the words science is a massive large tent. That includes biology, botany, zoology, genetics, microbiology, ecology, physics, chemistry, astronomy, astrophysics, biochemistry, geology, oceanography, paleontology, psychology, computer science and mathematics. Which of these are by your biblical beliefs are babblings and false science?

Perhaps we should drop back to some definitions. IMHO science is a system of evidenced based method for observing, understanding and explaining the natural world. It is both a body of accumulated knowledge and an ongoing process of discovery based on rigorous testing, experimentation and logical reasoning. It is a serf-define evolutionary process of validation and reevaluation of data. Do you find this definition valid? Or do you believe science just endless unprovable speculations? Obviously you find science satanic as it sometimes confronts our currently deeply held beliefs that themselves are evolving and based on faith alone.

Back to my original question. How do you or have you communicated to your children you view of science that sometimes confronts strongly held beliefs?
What about Archaeology?

There is a ton of information in archaeology that establishes the house of David.

Many kings in Israel have been accepted as historically valid through archaeology.

Key discoveries span several fundamental areas of ancient history:

Extra-Biblical Inscriptions: Monumental stones provide undeniable historical proof for ancient Israel's royal dynasties. The Tel Dan Stele (9th century BCE) explicitly references the "House of David". The Mesha Stele (840 BCE) recounts conflicts between Moab and Israel's King Omri, and the Kurkh Monoliths name King Ahab of Israel. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The Kingdom of Judah: Sites like Khirbet Qeiyafa (dating to the early 10th century BCE) provide evidence of a fortified, organized urban administration in the time traditionally associated with King David, featuring monumental gates and early Hebrew inscriptions.

Assyrian and Babylonian Sieges: Archaeological excavations at cities like Lachish have uncovered arrowheads, siege ramps, and mass destruction layers that perfectly match the Assyrian conquest of Judah by King Sennacherib, as recorded in biblical accounts. [1, 2]

Everyday Life and Culture: Excavations across the region (such as the four-room pillared houses common in hill country) show that early Israelites were historically rooted, adapting to their environment through terraced farming and village-based economies. Unique discoveries—such as 7th-century BCE royal estate toilets and ivory furniture fragments in Jerusalem—shed light on the elite wealth and craftsmanship described in the Book of Kings.

Israel existed in the middle east over three thousand years ago and that is a historical fact.

The first definitive archaeological discoveries supporting the historicity of ancient Israel appeared in the late 19th century, with subsequent major discoveries in the late 20th century providing direct evidence for the Davidic dynasty and the historical kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

Archaeology uses scientific processes to establish the dates and authenticity of sites in Israel.

Nor would I reject modern medicine which is making inroads into many diseases that have plagued mankind through history.

I fully accept the advent of computers, AI, mobile phones, GPS, powerful software, e.t.c.

The Hubble space based telescope is looking back over 1 billion yrs in the past. Paleontology has demonstrate humanity has existed over hundreds of thousand of years. Geologists believe the earth is about 4 billion yrs old. Geoscientists look at crude oil that comes from 15,000 ft below the surface and see pollen grains, plant spores and algal cysts of ancient algae demonstrating ancient life on earth. These and many other data from the scientific community seem to describe a world very different than that of Genesis. How we relate to these evolving facts and how do we inform our children on the data that confronts the Genesis account?

Most of it is simply made up. Look at the ai images of space for crying out loud. I'm not saying all of it. They just make up numbers. The hubble telescope is not looking 1 billion years in the past. Lol whatever. But they still have no cure for cancer or even the modern cold right.

The land was nothing like how it is today. The oxygen levels would have been very elevated. It would never have the same formula from today. That's why the numbers are so crazy high.

I love real science... nature and observing. Actually it really helps with understanding parables if you understand nature. It's a lie that it goes against the bible.

Even the Beak of the finch. Darwin worked so hard on that and I could literally pull out tweezers, chopsticks, and a fork to show you how beaks go along with food. Adaptation was created by God to help living things survive.

I think it's cool we've been able to go to the moon. I don't think we'll ever make it to Mars. It's not in the Bible. I also think there is a lot of money laundering inside of NASA and space bc who would know.

Your definition of evolution is wrong. Using that word in the wrong context is misleading and confusing.

Historical science is at best an educated guess. I have no trouble believing that Noah's flood was genuine. I've studied the flood from a scientific point of view as well as my firm belief in God's word as inerrant. Science, when an objective approach is taken, can readily confirm that the Flood was worldwide and covered the whole earth.

The problem is that most scientists start with an attitude that there is no God and that the Bible is mythology. The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God". I'll believe God's word rather than the words of fools.

Without a quote I am not sure what you think is the correct definition of evolution.
Scientific evidence is that the Flood was indeed worldwide, but it occurred in stages over millions of years before the land uplifted into mountains.
True hard scientists do not start with speculation about unprovable theories but with provable facts/evidence.

The Propensity Principle (PP) is as scientific as possible regarding ultimate reality. The PP employs linear logic (rather than circular reasoning) to propose faith in the NT God as the best belief that solves the maze of ultimate reality as follows:

1. Current scientific knowledge cannot explain how the universe came to exist by means of natural causes, thus it is possible that the cause of the universe is a supernatural Creator/God.

2. The most creative species is humanity, whose traits also include language, moral conscience and God consciousness (personality), so it is possible that these human traits reflect attributes of a God who created humanity.

3. Existential reality indicates that humans are mortal and life is painful, but when life is happy, one wishes it would continue indefinitely. Thus, it is rational to seek ways to become immortal in a heavenly existence (where there is love and justice for all forever, the duo of desirables (DOD).

4. Comparing all possible ways of achieving the DOD, the best or most credible way/hope at this point appears to be the God who resurrected Christ Jesus.

5. When words from God are sought, the NT teachings of Jesus and Paul seem to be the most highly inspired when compared with other scriptures (including the OT), because its concept of one God as the just and all-loving Judge (rationale for morality) is spiritually highest or most advanced, and the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus is most credible.

6. Thus, it is appropriate or wise to believe in the NT God and to accept Jesus as God’s Messiah.

God made everything is 6 days and rested on the 7th. The earth is about 6000 years old (6 days), 200 years ago we were on horses. The Day of ther Lord is coming.

2 Peter 3

1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

The walls of Jericho, 6 days and of course...

the last verse of Martthew 16, the Lord promised some would see the Son of man coming and six days later, 3 of them did.
28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mark 17
1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Well, six seems significant, but my bet is that three will be more so at the rate things are going.
