Hey Everyone,
I have to be honest in that I didn't quite "just enter" into my "long-term relationship" all that recently -- it's actually been about 2 months. But I'm happy to report, it seems to be going quite well!!
In early spring, I spent many a visit longingly perusing the rose plants at my local plant supply stores. I LOVE roses -- my favorite flower -- but always found them to be too intimidating. Plus, I can only have a container garden, and I wasn't sure how well I grow a rose plant that had to be kept at a certain size. However, when I saw one on sale (about 40% off,) I could no longer resist. The plant I got looked perfectly healthy -- but the blooms had run their course and were all coming apart, petal by petal. So, I took it home and have pretty much made it my baby!
It had some new buds forming even when I got it, but I am very excited that a brand-new bud is evolving, one that formed entirely while under my care! (I bet the poor thing is breathing a sigh of relief.) It produces medium-sized pink roses, BUT, that also means I only have to maneuver around medium-sized thorns.
And, I'm in it for the long haul. With cold weather fast approaching, I've already scoped out a comfy place indoors, complete with grow lights, to pamper my little darling during the winter. And, if things go well, I might gather up the courage to buy a plant with full-size roses (and full-size thorns) next year! (I saw a gorgeous purple variety that I can't stop thinking about!)
What about you?
* What kind of "long-term" commitments and "relationships" do you have going on in YOUR life?
Maybe it's a game you're trying to conquer, a piece of furniture you're trying to upholster, a recipe you're trying to perfect, a vehicle you're trying to fix. Maybe it's a sport, exercise, or dance move you're determined to improve. Maybe it's a writing, piece of art, music, or project you are trying to finish.
* How did you get involved in these activities, and what made them become "long-term" relationships instead of just one-and-done?
* Did you go into any projects/interests EXPECTING it to be long-term, but for some reason, it ended early? What happened?
* On a scale of 1-10, how much of a commitment/hassle/workload are these things you've taken on? Do you consider them to be a joy, a frustration, a challenge, or a bit of everything?
I've been thinking in particular about the things I've been able to try during my single time, but everyone is welcome to answer!
I always enjoy hearing what people are up to.
* What are YOU doing to keep your "relationships" spicy? (I'm trying a new watering method -- and the object of my affection seems to approve.)
