Hello everyone,

I'm very sad to say that I am just about to end a long-term relationship. I don't want to at all, but have chosen to because I have no more to put into the relationship. Sigh. Tonight is my last night with my beloved but needs-a-lot-of-repairs PT Cruiser.

I remember the day I found her. I had a strong idea of what I wanted in a car. I hadn't even really considered her, to be honest. When I had first seen PT Cruisers, I thought they were downright ugly!! But alas, I came to find that the way she was totally went together in expressing a big part of my personality. She wasn't the color I wanted at all, but I came to love her very unique coloring (Marine Pearl Blue) and over time, I came to really love her. I eventually loved the fact that she was so different and was glad I didn't go with the more popular but common color I first wanted.

In shopping for a new car, I've found myself compromising even more. What I wanted was a Volkswagon Beetle, again in a very specific color. But one experience with that car and I both fell in love and had my heart broken, all within the a five-mile test drive. You see, beautiful as that car was, and as much as I had hoped to get one, I couldn't see out of it. Maybe it was because of my height and the shape of the windows, but I could barely even see more than than the back seat in the rear view mirror.

Now, I could try to convince myself that I "could adjust and adapt", but living in a new area with ten times more traffic is not worth the gamble. I was having problems with blind spots even on the abandoned part of the road during the test drive. I did not feel safe in that car. BUT SHE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. It was so hard to get up and walk away.

And so, I decided to choose something else. It's not what I originally planned. It's not the color I wanted. It doesn't look the way I thought it might look. But it has a good warranty, gets good mileage, makes me feel much safer, and will keep me more secure over the long haul.

Does God work the same way in helping us find a spouse? Maybe that person will be a totally different color or ethnicity than we ever could have imagined. Maybe his or her body won't be as sparkly or in quite the same shape as we think we'll be attracted to. And maybe they won't have all the "beeps and whistles" we first wrote down on our "must have" list.

But what if God knows that different color, shape, and package will be exactly what we need, and not necessarily what we want? (I have a friend who tells me that all the time: "God won't necessarily give you want--He'll give you what He knows you need.")

How many of us are not married to someone God may have very well given the thumbs up to simply because we are unwilling to compromise on color, size, and packaging?

As usual, the poll is anonymous and multiple choice.

Oh this is TOO GOOD~

I want a man with good milage and won't break down in a 5 years. Someone to impress my friends, and make my guy friends jealous that they don't have him. Not one from the 70's either, a little more recent. No rust. A nice color too. And an automatic start control, so I don't have wait for him to start up.

I love this Thread by the way.

I want one that has Solid Electronics and CPU that won't go on the fritz randomly. I want her to have a strong athletic Engine, a 6 Speed and a well grounded good handling sporty suspension. It has to be something adventurous, good for exploring, and yet still classy enough to go out in style.

She should have a more timeless look too. Not too many frilly accessories, plasticy bits or fussy controls. I don't need a navigation system that is going to tell me when and where to turn every 5 seconds. But having a smart Dashboard heads up display would be awesome. The Mileage doesn't worry me, as long as there isn't any rust under the wheel arches, silly decals or cheesy modifications.

I'm on my second used car....I look for used reliable cars that will get me from point a to point b without costing me an arm and a leg to repair...never been interested in flashy racecars. My car is actually at the dealership right now, I lost my keys and had to rent a car while they make a new set.

Renting a new flashy car makes me genuinely miss my own little dependable car, and all of its quirks. The new car doesn't feel the same...I don't know how that translates as far as what attracts me to men...I just want my own car back. I really haven't given thought to buying or looking for another car.. we have a 'til death do us part' relationship.

Being with you sounds exhausting.....

As long as its a nice sounding exhaust, right Liamson :p

I guess I may not be in the majority. I want a car that already has some miles on it so that I know it has been tested and shown to last. I also want a car that is dependable and something I can have for the long haul. I want one that goes good when I want to drive it slow, yet when I am looking to have some fun it can handle that. I am not looking for perfection, just one that will grow old with me. I know that attraction matters a bit, but I know that over time as I fall more in love with it, it will become the best car in my eyes!
Over time we will get used to each others quirks. Lastly, I want a car that when I sit down in it, I feel like I am home.

And here I thought I didn't know what I wanted for Christmas!:)

Psalms says , If we delight our selves in the Lord, Hewill give us the desires of our heart. 37:4.

I believe God instills in us certain desires and traits we look for. Most certainly if we are in communion with him then our desires and looked for qualities will line up with his plans for our future.
:D

I don't think I could phrase what I want in a spouse in terms of car language...

Food for thought:

Cars don't change for the better, spouses do.

Cars depreciate in value, spouses appreciate in value.

^^ At least I hope that's how it works. :)

I wanna car that has my name tattoo'd on it, so eeeeeeveryone knows thats MY CAR... NO TOUCHY!!! I want one thats not gonna be all.. your skin is so white!! Or your hair is the same color as a penny!!!! WHICH IT SOOOO IS NOT!!!

Oooh oops :D

I want one thats.... nice???

:p

Errr... was this a homosexual lesbian realtionship?

Of course!

Actually. Most people I know refer to their vehicles with a female pronoun. I would not be excluded. I could be wrong... maybe some people do refer to their modes of transportation as a male. If nothing else, I kind of think of my cars as being "neutered" but because they need a bit of special care, I made the reference of "she."

Besides, if I see "her" (my vehicle) as a "friend who is a girl" (not a girlfriend), someday when/if I have a significant other, he can't accuse me of having a relationship with another male.

So you were involved in a perverted immoral relationship with another woman, show no repentance whatsoever, and now you're equating this gross sin of homosexual immorality you shamelessly engaged in with the cars people drive?

Oh I am SO sorry seoulsearch. I got totally confused. I've just reread the entire thread and realized you were talking about a CAR and not another woman.

**facepalm**.

My aunt who just moved out here owns that black one (Porsche Cayman) so I'm hoping she'll let me take it for a spin soon. :D

NP, AoK. But... maybe it would be better not to suspect right off the bat that someone is talking about something immoral without remorse. I am sensing a bit of a theme in your judgments.

I know my threads are long :D but yes.

Reading the entire thing really does help. ;)

I don't enable sexual immorality nor drug/alcohol addiction. It's true that you will see me take a stand against those. And you could have stopped me cold by simply correcting me rather than rambling on like you did after it was clear I was very confused about what you were saying. It was a misunderstanding. I would bet money you have made them before yourself. Peace.
