I would have been very surprised if Jesus had interrupted His message in order to deal with something so unimportant to Him. It was NOT a teaching occasion. The disciples were still learning and had yet to receive the Spirit of illumination, and to realise that the Gentiles had an equal part in the one new man. Then they would soon realise that the kingdom was being restored in the new church that was forming, the new nation (Matt 21-43).

But as the NT says NOTHING about Jesus returning to Jerusalem I suppose that people have to look for it in the silences :)

I would agree .I think that can be seen by looking at Luke 9 . Every time the Lord would hide the spiritual meaning in a parable. they would become faithless not trusting the Holy Spirit ,not seen. They would start to look for another outward form as to "who is the greatest".

Three times in that portion of scripture they denied Christ. The last time still not understanding the parable they set there eyes on the temporal Jerusalem, as if the kingdom of God was of this world, wanting to kill all the gentiles who they thought were a outward competition, as those who do walk by sight, the temporarily. And not faith the unseen eternal) . Christ rebuked the apostles.

And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
And they (the apostles)did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.Luk 9:52 -55

It was obvious it was not the manner of faith, the eternal, not seen. But rather they understood by the things seen the temporal.

Matthew 24 Question

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

Question: For those you believe Christ will come again to physically rule in Jerusalem, how will you know if he is not an impostor? Doesn't Jesus warn us not too look for Him there?

When Jesus said this He is referring to people that are in the flesh claiming to be Christ, which Jesus will never come in the flesh again,so the saints will know they are false.

When Jesus comes back He will be in a glorified body, and will not rule until after God fights the world, and puts them down, and Jesus and the saints rule over one sixth of the world that God spared.

[SUP]10 [/SUP]And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey(Acts 1:10-12).

14 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee(Zechariah 14:1-5).

Jesus will come back with His saints, and come back in like manner are He went up,stepping down on the Mount of Olives.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles(Zechariah 14:16-18).

Jesus will have a glorified body, and will rule out of Jerusalem for 1000 years.

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen." (Revelation 1:7)

May Christians are walking with Jesus right now (in the spirit). They will recognize a false Christ.

The NT does not say alot about the OT prophesies concerning the return of Christ. So that does not suprise me..

Because their fulfilment would be different from what literalists expected?

As for jesus not correcting? So jesus is just going to allow them to go on believing the kingdom will be restored when it is not true? Say it is not so..

But the kingdom was restored, just not in the manner they were expecting.

All jesus would have to say is, It is not going to be restored. It will be a spiritual kingdom..

The kingdom that He offered while He was on earth WAS a spiritual kingdom. They had learned enough about that but were still too slow to appreciate it. They still kept harping on about greatness and position. Jesus knew that when the Holy Sprit came in power they would at last learn the lesson.

That was the problem with the Jews, they put the literal before the spiritual. They thought it was the literal kingdom that mattered. They had not appreciated that the kingdom HAD to be spiritual. That was why they missed it. Jesus knew that the kingly rule (basileia) of God would be God ruling over those who truly sought Him, ie a spiritual kingdom. And at Pentecost that was what the apostles established. They still taught it was for Jews only. But they soon learned better. The barrier between Jew and Gentile was BROKEN DOWN. Christ had made them at one by the blood of the cross. There was no longer Jew or Gentile, but the NEW NATION of Israel

He did not have to say to these men who were going to run his church, It is not for you to know the time or season. (ie when it will happen) if it was never going to happen. That would be deceiving them.

The true Israel WAS going to be established. They soon learned that fact the practical way as Acts 15 demonstrates. All the epistles make clear that they had seen it. The new church WAS Israel. A long discussion would have been pointless at that stage to break down their prejudices. Jesus was ascending and the Holy Spirit was coming. THEN they would know the truth.
To have raised the question then would have been to take their minds from the task in hand.

They were not Jesus' words but the disciples' misconceptions. But Jesus had been preaching that the kingdom of God had been restored to all who believed right from the beginning. They had not caught on then. They still looked for a physical kingdom. What point a further discussion.? They were blind to the truth. They would gradually ACTUALLY learn the truth as they went with the Holy Spirit. Act 10 shows how hard it was, even for Peter.

It seems it is just as hard for you. GOD WAS NEVER INTERESTED IN A PHYSICAL KINGDOM. HE ONLY WANTED A SPIRITUAL KINGDOM MADE UP OF SPRITUALLY MINDED BELIEVERS. THAT WS HIS PURPOSE FROM THE BEGINNING,

He had shown that that the Jews could not produce it. It would be by a process of selection. The elect obtained it and the rest were blinded
.

Nope, Satan is loosed for a season to deceive the nations once again. They will be defeated.

Revelation 20
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

As I said, the supposed king had failed to maintain order even though he had known it was going to happen and God had to intervene at the last moment, Some king!!!

The devil was released in Rev 9.1-11. That was the timing of his release.

Nice try, Prophesy must be fulfilled literally. Otherwise, It is not prophesy, And we can make God say anythign we want.. No one can prove us wrong.

But the kingdom was restored, just not in the manner they were expecting.

Oh, Then why was jerusalem destroyed 40 years later?

The kingdom that He offered while He was on earth WAS a spiritual kingdom. They had learned enough about that but were still too slow to appreciate it. They still kept harping on about greatness and position. Jesus knew that when the Holy Sprit came in power they would at last learn the lesson.

That does not negate the physical kingdom God promised in the OT, and himself said would come, and john prophesied in his book of prophesy.

No, the problem with the jews is they did not think they needed a savior. they thought they were already Gods children and were already heavenbound.

What good would it do if God made his kingdom here on earth, yet had to condemn all his people to hell because the sin problem was not resolved.

and ps there was not a new nation, There was a new body.. The church is not a nation.

The true Israel WAS going to be established. They soon learned that fact the practical way as Acts 15 demonstrates. All the epistles make clear that they had seen it. The new church WAS Israel. sorry, But OT prophesies do not support this view.

The OT prophets spoke of a suffering servant, who would die for the sin of th epeople. And a king who would rule the world with a rod of iron.

Again the sin issue had to be taken care of first.. Then the kingdom will happen, But only after God, who is patient, determines the tim eof this kingdom.

Why do you assume the King failed? Man has the choice. Man will be deceived by Satan once more. Eve was deceived, does that mean God failed? Lucifer himself rebelled against God, does that mean God failed?

As far as i can remember Jesus never told us not to look for him in Jerusalem. He said if someone says he is in a secret chamber or in the desert don't look for him there. He said that his coming would be like lightening . It was a discussion about his second coming.
Lightning is like a flash, you don't know when it's coming or where it will hit.

found it

Zech 14: 3, Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,

Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Then you shall flee through My mountain valley,
For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal.
Yes, you shall flee
As you fled from the earthquake
In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come,
And all the saints with You.[SUP][a][/SUP]

Luke 24:27
27 [FONT=&quot]And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Luke 24:44-45
[FONT=&quot]44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.[/FONT]
Amazingly, they still did not know it would take Christ 2000+ years to come back and reign physically on earth for a 1000 years. It says all things concerning Jesus was discussed, and they eyes were opened, yet no mention of church gap, a 1000 year reign. Don't you think they want to let us know what Jesus said about it, give us a heads up? Unless, there is nothing written or to be said.

Could be that Jesus was speaking of the eternal state, in which even the creation is groaning until the final glorious redemption, while His disciples where thinking of a fleshy kingdom. Regardless, Jesus redirected their attention away from it's starting point and to encompass the whole world. Seems to me Christians are wanting to focus on the starting point, is this not contradictory to what Christ commanded?

""" It says all things concerning Jesus was discussed, and they eyes were opened, yet no mention of church gap, a 1000 year reign. Don't you think they want to let us know what Jesus said about it, give us a heads up? Unless, there is nothing written or to be said.""""

It says all things written in the OT about the prophecies contained therein about Jesus was discussed.. And they where.. If one reads all of Zechariah chapter 14 then one can see that After the Day of the Lord (the day of the return of Jesus) a kingdom on earth will be set up centered on Jerusalem and from year to year::::

Zechariah 14:KJV
16 ¶And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

The Book of Revelation only gives more clarity to how long this Year to year period will last... It will be 1000 Years..

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen." (Revelation 1:7)

God is not a man as us never was never will be.The Son of man in respect to his temporal outward flesh was used for the temporal time period . Today we know the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ no more by an outward appearance, again as if God was a man as us.

God remains without mother or father beginning of day or end of Spirit life.

There simply is no daysman set as an infallible umpire like the Pope approved by both men and God . The Son of man resisted all forms of worship to help us understand that Christ is not a man, a created being .

For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both. Job 9:32

No visible mediator on earth. Christ the anointing Holy Spirit will come just as before without form . The demonstration is over. Why look to the corrupted flesh typified as sinful? As new creatures we know no man after the flesh this includes the Son of man.

2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, “yet now "henceforth" know we him no more.”

How long is henceforth? How much is no more?

Prophecy was rarely fulfilled literally. LOL look at Matthew's 'fulfilments'. Few were fulfilled literally. You 'literalists' do not check the facts. The prophecies had to be 'interpreted'

The Old Testament prophecies were written from the vantage point of the Old Testament. They wrote in terms they KNEW. Read Isaiah's prophecies concerning Jerusalem. Over one third were incapable of literal fulfilment.

VALIANT said - But the kingdom was restored, just not in the manner they were expecting.

Oh, Then why was jerusalem destroyed 40 years later?

Because the old had to be done away so that the new kingly rule of God could be properly established. Jerusalem was no longer necessary for it (John 4.21-24). It had become a hindrance to the world wide Gospel and the worldwide kingly rule.

VALIANT said -- The kingdom that He offered while He was on earth WAS a spiritual kingdom. They had learned enough about that but were still too slow to appreciate it. They still kept harping on about greatness and position. Jesus knew that when the Holy Sprit came in power they would at last learn the lesson

That does not negate the physical kingdom God promised in the OT, and himself said would come, and john prophesied in his book of prophesy.

The physical kingdom was not prophesied anywhere in the New Testament. It was set aside for the spiritual even before the Gentiles became an issue. Jesus coming and founding of a new spiritual kingdom had rendered the Old Testament ideas in need of revision in the light of the New. They had to learn that a physical kingdom was an impossibility in Old Testament terms because the nation as a whole would never respond to God. Only those could enter it who were born again. They would form Jesus new congregation (Matth 16.18), new nation (Matth 21.43).,

That was why Paul wrote the coming in of the full number of the Gentiles would mean 'all Israel' would be saved.

VALIANT said - That was the problem with the Jews, they put the literal before the spiritual. No, the problem with the jews is they did not think they needed a savior. they thought they were already Gods children and were already heavenbound.

The problem with the Jews was that they thought they could be saved by their own righteousness, without a rebirth. Jesus made clear that they could not. It was only those who responded to Him from the heart Who would be saved. And that could never happen to a whole physical nation. He had in front of His eyes the new spiritual nation God would produce in the future made up of believing Jews and Gentile proselytes, what He and we call the congregation of God.

What good would it do if God made his kingdom here on earth, yet had to condemn all his people to hell because the sin problem was not resolved
.

No good at all lol. So He wouldn't waste his time. Only the few will be saved.

and ps there was not a new nation, There was a new body.. The church is not a nation.

So Jesus prophesied wrongly in Matt 21.43? He never spoke of Israel being restored. He spoke of the new nation of Israel that would arise as a result of His teaching and His death and resurrection. That new nation came to its own at Pentecost. For a number of years it consisted of Jews only, until God opened Peter's eyes to see that it was for ALL. He made of two one new man, the church.

Or are you saying that the BELIEVING Jews were no longer Israel. That that privilege belonged to unbelieving Jews?

VALIANT said - The true Israel WAS going to be established. They soon learned that fact the practical way as Acts 15 demonstrates. All the epistles make clear that they had seen it. The new church WAS Israel. A long discussion would have been pointless at that stage to break down their prejudices. Jesus was ascending and the Holy Spirit was coming. sorry, But OT prophesies do not support this view.

You mean you do not interpret them this way? Jesus and the Apostles did. They never spoke of a new earthly Jerusalem. To them Jerusalem was now first in Jesus (John 2.19-21), then in Heaven (Gal 4.20 ff; Heb 12.20-22; Revelation 21). Don't you believe the NT? The old had passed away, the new had come.

The OT prophets spoke of a suffering servant, who would die for the sin of th epeople. And a king who would rule the world with a rod of iron.

where in the Hebrew scripture does it say He will rule them with a rod of iron? it says He will BREAK THEM with a rod of iron and parallels this with smashing them in pieces like a potter's vessel. The NT renders this 'he will shepherd them with a rod of iron'. Do you know why a shepherd carried a rod of iron? To smash wild beasts with.

Again the sin issue had to be taken care of first.. Then the kingdom will happen, But only after God, who is patient, determines the time of this kingdom.

The so called millennium kingdom on earth (NEVER SPOKEN OF IN THE NEW TESTAMENT) will very much not be a place where the sin issue is dealt with. It is going back to the old physical kingdom which was a failure. It is supposed to have in it a mixture of ordinary people and resurrected people, and it ends with the king being almost overcome and having to appeal to Heaven for help. YOUR Jesus has lost his power. Presumably he was unaware of it coming in spite of it being prophesied. Doesn't sound very likely to me..

The Bible knows nothing of resurrected saints living on earth

A king who is ruling on earth is responsible for the people under him. That is WHY he is ruling. He cannot stand by and see many of them (quite innocent) decimated by other members of his kingdom, especially when he knows it is gong to happen. Yet you say he was total unprepared? RIDICULOUS.

God was not ruling on earth. He designated man for that purpose. But JESUS WAS. And we know nothing about the angels that fell. Lucifer is nowhere mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

not adding, reasonably interpreting. Do I Gather YOU don't reasonably interpret.? It figures.
