The first clue would be that the world sees him return to earth.

It tells us when,

[SUP]29 [/SUP]“Immediately after the tribulation of those days

It tells us how, and what the world will see,

the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. [SUP]30 [/SUP]Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven,

And it tells us who will witness it,

and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. [SUP]31 [/SUP]And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Se wee see, that whoever endured to the end, will be gathered together and brought to Christ himself.

So if we see anyone in jerusalem before this happens. We can know it is not Christ.

The scriptures above are referring to those who will have made it alive through the wrath of God and the beasts reign when the Lord returns to the earth to end the age . This is not referring to the church. In fact, the church, those who will have previously resurrected and caught up, will be those who will be returning with the Lord when he returns to the earth to end the age. We are the ones riding on those white horses and wearing the fine linen, white and clean. Those who will have previously been gathered by the Lord will be those called, chosen and faithful followers that scripture states will be with him when he returns - Rev.17:14

Amen Brother!

I thought the same thing soon as the list of topics came up on the Bible study forum topics. So important to know who the Bible is referring to in these verses. When we misapply these verses to "us" the church., we will not be rightly dividing the Word. Tons of confusion will come in. Thanks for your post!!!

When He returns He will not step foot on the earth. He will come in the clouds with His angels, and we will rise to Him.

As far as i can remember Jesus never told us not to look for him in Jerusalem. He said if someone says he is in a secret chamber or in the desert don't look for him there. He said that his coming would be like lightening . It was a discussion about his second coming.

When He returns He will not step foot on the earth. He will come in the clouds with His angels, and we will rise to Him.

if I remember, When he returns he will land on the mount of olives, and the mountain will split into two.

I will have to look it up and get back to you or maybe someone can help?

found it

Zech 14: 3, Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,

Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Then you shall flee through My mountain valley,
For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal.
Yes, you shall flee
As you fled from the earthquake
In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come,
And all the saints with You.[SUP][a][/SUP]

Acts 1
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

There is a coming time where the physical kingdom will be restored to Israel in Jerusalem and be that city on a hill, a light to the rest of the nations where Jesus is King. His reign on earth will last 1,000 years. That is the good news of the kingdom coming to Israel. The church, the bride of Christ will return with to rule and reign with Him.

even if you do not believe in the literal 1000 year reign, You have to admit, If there was never going to be a time when God restores the kingdom to Isreal. God would have said so right there, But he did not His answer, It is not for you to know the time or the season (when this will happen)

Jesus never ruled in the literal Jerusalem as that which was set aside in a parable. His kingdom is not of this world or ever will be. That would be the unmarried land, the shadow that points to the unseen, eternal married land.

The married land in respect to His bride is understood as the new heavenly Jerusalem coming down prepared as His bride on the last day, the temporal land points to that not seen the eternal. We live as pilgrims and strangers in respect to this land.

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2Co 4:18

Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. Isa 62:4

Hephzi-bah = "my delight is in her.... a name for the new Jerusalem also called Zion, the bride of Christ made up from all the nations in the world..

land Beulah== 01166 ba`al {baw-al'}a primitive root; TWOT - 262; vAV - marry 8, husband 3, dominion 2, wife 1, married wife 1, Beulah 1; 16 1) to marry, rule over, possess, own 1a) (Qal) 1a1) to marry, be lord (husband) over 1a2) to rule over 1b) (Niphal) to be married

Isa 62:5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee. Isa 62:4

In the above context the young man as the bridegroom represents our Husband Christ seeing we are as new creatures not recognized by the flesh, neither of a Jew or a gentile male or female. We are all considered His chaste virgin bride in respect to our promised new incorruptible bodies.

God is not a man as us . The temporal form is finished demonstrating the unseen authority of the Holy Spirit, Christ. We are not to look for a temporal form as if God was a man as us. The Holy Spirit, Christ will come like a thief in the night.

2Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet "now henceforth" know we
him no more.

He will come in the Sky as lightning flashes from east to west and we shall be caught up to meet Him in the Air upon his arrival.. Jesus will not be coming back as a baby being born and growing up in this world again.. He left in His adult body and the Angels told the apostles He would return in like manor.. That being ascending down in His glorious body and we shall be transformed in a twinkling of an eye and we shall be as He is in... There will be no mistaking the real Messiah Jesus... We will not need to look for Jesus anywhere.. Jesus is going to send down the Angels and gather us up... All we need to is wait for Him and watch out for the signs of His coming in hope.. :D

There is a coming time where the physical kingdom will be restored to Israel in Jerusalem and be that city on a hill, a light to the rest of the nations where Jesus is King.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

The city on a hill or mountain, same Greek word (oros) in respect to the invisible glory of God is not in respect to things seen, the temporal.

Why the paraphrasers used hill in one example and not the other as mountain, is a mystery. Personally it would seem to distract from the gospel and make it hard to compare the spiritual things of God to the spiritual word.

3735 oros {or'-os} probably from an obsolete oro (to rise or "rear", perhaps akin to 142, cf 3733); TDNT - 5:475,732; n n AV - mountain 41, mount 21, hill 3; 65 1) a mountain

We look to the things not seen the eternal, unseen glory, not to the things of this world the temporal as that seen..

And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; Rev 21:10

Yes but not descending to THIS earth. It will be a new spiritual earth which is free form corruption and fit for the permanent dwelling place of God. It will have no sun, moon or sea.

I would have been very surprised if Jesus had interrupted His message in order to deal with something so unimportant to Him. It was NOT a teaching occasion. The disciples were still learning and had yet to receive the Spirit of illumination, and to realise that the Gentiles had an equal part in the one new man. Then they would soon realise that the kingdom was being restored in the new church that was forming, the new nation (Matt 21-43).

But as the NT says NOTHING about Jesus returning to Jerusalem I suppose that people have to look for it in the silences :)

And it will end in tragedy, mayhem and disaster because the King was unable to control his kingdom? The Lord I serve is not like that!!!!

would he really have to look to the Father to help him out at the last moment? I don't think so.

The NT does not say alot about the OT prophesies concerning the return of Christ. So that does not suprise me..

As for jesus not correcting? So jesus is just going to allow them to go on believing the kingdom will be restored when it is not true? Say it is not so..

All jesus would have to say is, It is not going to be restored. It will be a spiritual kingdom.. He did not have to say to these men who were going to run his church, It is not for you to know the time or season. (ie when it will happen) if it was never going to happen. That would be deceiving them.

Nope, Satan is loosed for a season to deceive the nations once again. They will be defeated.

Revelation 20
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

And it will end in tragedy, mayhem and disaster because the King was unable to control his kingdom? The Lord I serve is not like that!!!!

I suggest you read the Book of Revelation.. Start at the Revelation of the Lords second coming .. start at Revelation 19: verse 11 . Keep reading until the end of Revelation 20 And see it is a chronological ordered Revelation of End times events in order and duration... May you be blessed with truth...
