But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Gen 2:17

They didn't die that day, and I doubt God's perception of time after the Earth orbited the sun was any different than ours now.

Unless you wanna claim they weren't on Earth, then I have no argument to give. I'd still contest God expected them to eat of the tree though. Why else would it be there?

They did indeed die that very day, for they let death enter the world in that very moment.

Aside from your presumption of how I deduce Gods will, I agree with you to a degree.
In response to the emboldened statement.
There actually is a logical and objective answer to why there is good and bad that you don't specify. We learn from both good and bad outcomes. If life were all good we wouldn't know bad, we would only understand one part of our universe. If we didn't know bad, we wouldn't know God is great and life is wonderful. I'm not suggesting bad things should be welcomed, but they are necessary if His plan was to make perfect creatures to dwell in this universe, which He has done.

I'm not sure I agree, because good people tend to know the most about good and evil, as they have faced temptation the most, but bad people know very little about either.
But again, we are perfectly free yes, but not perfectly righteous. God can punish perfectly free creatures and do so justly. I might be able to agree that it is the bad in my past that has made me love God, and hate evil, but the evil that I have done is still there, and to God it is still happening, even though to me it is in the past. This is why I don't think doing good by itself is enough if we don't have some way of repenting and being forgiven for our past sins. And for the most part, God gives us plenty of time to realize our sin and repent.

God didn't say that they would become infected, He said they would die. Not just die, surely die. You doubt God knew what he meant to say?

I doubt not, for Adam and Eve surely died that day. In fact, the whole world with them for death enterred the world.

I'm saying if I put my trust into waiting on a life without bad things, I'll have been waiting a robot wife.

God is showing his creation how bad sin is. The occupants of heaven will want no part of it because we have chosen Him. Get outa your head and let Christ in your heart.

I think it is only good to repent in order to understand why you feel the way you do. If you repent and have no feeling of regret to go with it, why bother? Nothing was learned. I think it's obvious we were put here to gain intelligence, not limit our intelligence. I like to think we are Gods microscope of His universe. He knows of all that exists, but want's the universe to be enjoyed by his intelligent creations that don't know everything he created.

We will enjoy the gift of heavens more having experienced this lifes misdoings. We will also recognize, we don't want a robot wife seeing as we know the difference thanks to having lived this life.

Not all things about God can be reasoned logically. The heights of the thoughts of men are mere foolishness to God

The mind of man is likened to a garden and we are it's master gardener. We are either a foolish or wise gardener. A wise gardener cultivates right thinking (Gods word). A foolish gardener does nothing and is overtaken by useless weed seeds, or he plants wrong (worldly) thinking. Which do you choose?

Btw. That is a loose quote from James B Allen.

Hello all. I am interested in your opinions about this. I am not trying to criticize anyone particular but I do want to discuss something said to me earlier.
I suggested we were "mere infants in this universe". I was asked how I came up with that. I replied, "it's my own logic".
I was later told that I am not to use my own logic when referencing God and the Bible.

This seems a bit skeptical to me. If we didn't use our own logic to determine the revelations God directs us towards, we would still be stuck with many laws and tribulations our society now would be morally disgusted by.

Thoughts?

What you are suggesting, whether you realize it or not, is that scripture is somehow subject to man's use of logic and reason in order to derive meaning from the text. This is not how scripture engages the human mind.
