Hey Everyone,
Melita's comment about my signature (M.C. Escher) prompted me to make a thread I'd wanted to write as a follow-up to the "Share a Project You've Been Working On" thread.
I've really enjoyed learning about the things you're working on.
Who inspires you in your work, or what are some other works that inspire you?
Melita, in answer to your post in another thread, my favorite MC Escher work is this (though there may be a few I haven't seen yet):
Although his work wasn't well-received at the time he was first producing it, many decades later, he became famous for depictions like this in which his creations seem to transcend the normal laws of physics and gravity in the real world.
This work is called "Relativity", and I love it because on the surface, it looks completely possible. As you study it, your brain turns to mush as you realize that the angles of the staircases are impossible in the real world... but because of the 3-dimenstional quality of the drawing, your brain can't figure out why.
Ironically, it was one of my siblings who discovered MC Escher's works and introduced me to them when I was a teenager.
I once had a t-shirt with this image on it and wore it until it fell apart.
What are some works by other people whom you admire, or just inspiring works in general? Please share them here. I always think about the fact that if someone else hadn't shown me things like this, I would have never known about them, so I hope that you too might discover something here you've never seen before... and love.
It can be anything you want (if you're an engineer, share a work that inspires your own!) and you don't have to be able to name the artist.
This thread is meant to be a sharing and appreciation of the incredible talent that God instills in His own creations, meaning us!
