1. Pride, apparently.

2. They have something about you wait three days after a person has died to make sure he's dead. (Same problem that gave us graveyard shift and dead ringers.) Waiting four days was official proof he was really dead.
.... and, being "saved by the bell".... they borrowed that expressiong for boxing, but I heard it was originally a string in a coffin tied to a bell outside.... if the supposed "dead" person woke up, they could pull the string and ring the bell.... being saved by the bell.

Rap music, though not one of my loves, is notmuch different than all other nameable things that can be utilized for good or for bad. TV, Radio, Internet, C/W music, blues, rock, , books, even the Bible, and on and on can be used for a good result or an evil. All depnds on the user.

Why is there a song about Jimmy cracking corn? The song itself says we don't care. Why did we bother making a song about something we don't care about? If I don't care about something I'll just go off and put my attention in something I do care about, not write songs about the things I don't care about.
(basic history)

"Jimmy Crack Corn" or "Blue-Tail Fly" is an American song which first became popular during the rise of blackface minstrelsy in the 1840s1. It is unclear who authored the song, but it is thought to have originated from African American culture2. The song's meaning is rooted in the experiences of enslaved people in the American South, who often used music and storytelling as a way to express their emotions and connect with each other3

As time progressed, this song sung by blacks was used to highlight white racism, and still is considered such today.

Why do we cook bacon and bake cookies? Do we need to change cooking methods or names here? Should we start baking bacon? Or should we call sweet treats bakies and long salty strips cookon?
This is stretching things. Bacon has to be cooked, or, more properly, fried. Although it can be placed on a cookie sheet and cooked in the oven. Cookies can, and are baked and fried:

Are Cookies Baked or Fried? A Comparison of Methods and Health …

Why does the word "efficient" need two of the letter f to do the job of one? That seems hypocritical. You need to BE the change you want to see, efishent.
That's why I do not bother learning Latin. They love to over spell their words :)

late 14c., "making, producing immediate effect, active, effective," from Old French efficient and directly from Latin efficientem (nominative efficiens) "effective, efficient, producing, active," present participle of efficere "work out, accomplish," from assimilated form of ex "out" (see ex-) + facere "to do" (from PIE root *dhe- "to set, put")

2. Who came up with the idea that bagels and donuts have holes, and why do they sell donut holes but not bagel holes?

Not all bagels have holes inside, but traditionally, they do. The hole in the center of a bagel serves several purposes:
  1. Historical Function: Bagels were stacked on dowels or threaded on ropes for display1.
  2. Even Cooking: The hole allows the dough to cook more evenly all the way through, keeping the bagel chewy without overcooking the outside23.
  3. Steam Vent: The hole acts as a natural vent, releasing excess moisture during baking2.

This was a very interesting read!

I'll never look at a bagel the same way again. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer! :geek:

In Ezekiel 16:49-50, why did God say that one of Sodom’s main iniquities was “…fullness of food…”?

-“Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.”

That's sort of a quasi Political/Religious question rather than the oxymoron's Lynx was asking, but, to answer yours: NO!

Ezekiel refers back to Israel’s mixed parentage in Canaan to introduce two sisters of the prostitute (who, in Ezekiel’s time was identified with Judah’s capital Jerusalem). The two sisters were the cities Samaria (capital of the former northern kingdom) and Sodom. Both cities were destroyed by God’s judgment, but Jerusalem’s sin was worse than both (44-48). Sodom was well known for its greed and immorality, Samaria for its idolatry, but both cities now appeared righteous compared with Jerusalem. Surely, the destruction of Jerusalem was inescapable (49-52).
Samaria and Sodom may each have had some satisfaction in seeing Jerusalem suffer the same fate as they had suffered. Yet all three had hope for the future. After the overthrow of Babylon, the three regions of Palestine represented by these three cities would be restored and inhabited again (53-55). In the meantime Jerusalem had to bear the shame of its immoral behaviour. In times past, Jerusalem was ashamed to mention the sin of Sodom, but now her reputation was just as bad (56-58).

True, but it’s odd that as bad as the sins were in Sodom were, one of the first listed was “full of food”. Makes you wonder if at some point, God told them to fast, and they refused (of course it’s not recorded but still). Would Nineveh have possibly faced a similar fate if they hadn’t fasted?

I refuse to think about this right (burp) after lunch.

The Bible does say gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins.

I have another question.

Why is it that when I stir together peanut butter and anything else, it turns into concrete? All natural peanut butter is often quite loose, almost runny. Grape jelly is also quite loose, almost runny. But if you stir them together well it sets up into something that you could throw at somebody and give him a concussion.

Why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway? If I PARK on a PARKway I'll get a traffic ticket. It's called a PARKway so I should be able to PARK there. And there's nowhere to drive to on a DRIVEway.
This is an etymological question: "Park" derived from the middle-english "paddock" which is derived from medival Latin "parricus" refers to an enclosed parcel of land used for the purposes of preserving a "wildlife" ecologly. A "parkway" is usually a road that leads you to a park; that does not mean that you should "park" your car on the road; rather, you should "park" when you arrive at the park; not on the way to the park.

Most people do not want their guests (or themselves) to have to walk from the road or tear up the lawn in order to reach their dwelling place; so they create a path or "way" on which you can drive your vehicle directly to their domicile.

Why does the word "efficient" need two of the letter f to do the job of one? That seems hypocritical. You need to BE the change you want to see, efishent.
The English language is renown for its shortcomings; but the meaning word "efficient" is accomplished in fewer total characters than in some other languages. For example:

Greek
αποτελεσματικός

Russian
эффективный

Latin
efficientis
In the English language, a double consonant helps with the determining if a words vowels are long or short; so, the double "F" has a linguistic purpose.

Why did we bother making a song about something we don't care about?
Some people just turn everything into a musical... Idk what their deal is; but the Lord has helped me just accept that for what it is.

Why do we cook bacon and bake cookies?
Baking is merely a specific form of cooking; therefore, you do technically "cook" cookies. "bacon" isn't derived from the cooking method of "baking"; rather it comes from a term that refers to the "back" of the pig.
