Different type of justification.
Only two types of justification in Scripture: Of God or of men.

Mat 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Jhn 5:44
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
That is a work acceptable in God's eyes. Not to do with receiving eternal life

No person has eternal life with works not acceptable to God.

1Jo 3:10
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever is doing unrighteousness is not of God.

Only those doing righteousness are righteous and born of God:

1 John{3:7}
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that is doing righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1 John{2:29} I
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that is doing righteousness is born of him.

Resurrection unto life is reward for doing the righteousness of God on earth:

Collosians{3:23}
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Resurrection unto destruction is reward for doing unrighteousness against God on earth:

2Pe 2:12
But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime.

Faith alone justification apart from works, is self justification with unjust works. No man shall be raised from the dead unto life, doing works displeasing to the Lord.

If the Spirit of God is not doing the work, then no man is doing the calling of God.
No argument there, but the old covenant required physically doing things to fulfill the terms of the covenant. These things could be done in the Spirit or in the flesh, but failure to fulfill physical observation of old covenant requirements evidenced one was in default of said requirements. When God called OT individuals to do something, He was simply calling them to something they already knew and could do. Those calls were based on covenant relationship that already existed. When God stipulates that He gives a new heart and spirit and places His Spirit within them, He is for the first time covenanting with that individual under the new covenant.

Faith alone justification apart from works, is self justification with unjust works. No man shall be raised from the dead unto life, doing works displeasing to the Lord.

Paul talks about being justification by faith without works. See Romans 5 and 10.. James talks about being justified by works.

There is no contradiction, they are writing about different aspects of justification. Paul mainly about eternal life justification, not by works, by belief on Jesus Christ, similar to John. Also alot of comparison with the law and faith.

James is about what people who already have faith do for the benefit of others. Justified acts of service. Not so much about receiving eternal life.

No argument there, but the old covenant required physically doing things to fulfill the terms of the covenant. These things could be done in the Spirit or in the flesh, but failure to fulfill physical observation of old covenant requirements evidenced one was in default of said requirements.
Same for new covenant. Transgression of the law of Christ kills faith in Christ and unjustifies the soul as an unbeliever, beginning with God's son Adam:

Gen 2:15
And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Ezek 18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Heb 10:38
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

The difference now is that God's covenant is broken by spiritual sin first, and not only by physical transgression.

Mat 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

The greater the covenant, the greater the condemnation:

Heb 10:28
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

The lie that God's new covenant somehow accepts more transgression than the old, is to mistake greater mercy for more acceptance of transgressions.

The greater mercy commands greater obedience, both inwardly and outwardly, and not just outwardly alone.

Mat 23:26
Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

1 Peter{1:22}
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

When God called OT individuals to do something, He was simply calling them to something they already knew and could do.
Same today. God doesn't call any man to do what cannot be done by man.

The call is to repent. Any man can repent. The call is to do good and not evil. Any man can do good and not evil.

The chosen few are them that do repent and do good, and not evil by faith in Jesus Christ. Having faith toward God has always been the answer to the call of God:

Heb 11:4
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts:

1Jo 3:11
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

There are two lies in justification by faith alone in Christ: That any man ever answered the call of God and was righteous without faith, and that any man ever answered the call of god and was righteous without works. Beginning with Abel.

When God stipulates that He gives a new heart and spirit and places His Spirit within them, He is for the first time covenanting with that individual under the new covenant.
When by the blood of Jesus Christ, which calls for greater obedience than the works of the law alone:

Mat 5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The righteousness of faith by the Spirit is greater than that of the law: Keeping a pure heart is greater than outward works alone.

Jas 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Greater the mercy and power, greater the commandment and judgement:

Luk 12:47
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Anyone that defiles the gospel of Jesus Christ as that of inward faith and purity only, with outward transgressions, is mocking the mercy and judgment of God:

Rom 2:3
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Gal 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting…For there is no respect of persons with God.

The righteousness of the Christian is not greater than the obedient Jew, by having greater faith within, and not keeping commandments outwardly. The righteousness is only greater by spiritual obedience and purity first, with physical obedience:

1 Thess{5:22}
Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

2:15
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life;

Beginning with Abel, justification of God has always been by faith with works of righteousness, never by faith alone instead of doing right.

1 John{2:29} I
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that is doing righteousness is born of him.

1 John{3:7}

Nope. The new covenant only requires that we walk in the Spirit.

Paul talks about being justification by faith without works.

Rom 4:5
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Faith without works of sins and iniquities before faith in Christ Jesus. Not without works of righteousness with faith in Jesus Christ.

Only works without faith are excluded from the righteousness of works by faith.

See Romans 5 and 10.. James talks about being justified by works. There is no contradiction,

Correct. Rom 4 preaches against any righteousness by any works without faith, and James 2 preaches against any justification by any faith without works.

All works are not excluded in Rom 4, even as all faith is not excluded in James 2. Only works and faith alone are excluded from the righteousness and justification of God.

Rom 9:31
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

The unbelieving Jews stumbled at being justified by works of the law, because they worked not with faith toward God.

The disobedient Christians stumble at being justified by faith alone, because they work not the righteousness of God.

1 John{3:7}
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that is doing righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

they are writing about different aspects of justification. Paul mainly about eternal life justification, not by works,
Not by any works at all is false. But only not by works of our own righteousness before faith in Jesus Christ:

Titus{3:4}
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

God only excludes man's own righteous works from His justification by faith, not His own righteous works by faith.

James{2:21}
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?...

Gal 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

James is about what people who already have faith do for the benefit of others. Justified acts of service. Not so much about receiving eternal life.
James is about people who already have faith, that do no good for others. Their faith is dead, and is not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And the faith is of salvation with eternal life:

Jas 2:14
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

And the justification was not with men only, but of God, even as when Abraham offered up Isaac, which could not physically benefit any person, especially not Isaac:

Jas 2:21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

James{2:21}
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

He was justified with God and called friend of God, not justified as a friend of men...

Jhn 5:44
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Matthew{23:5}
But all their works they do for to be seen of men:

James 2 is not exhorting good works to be justified with men only by, but works of faith for justification and friendship with God.

There are two types of justification and friendship in Scripture of God: Those of God by works, and those of men only.

Jas 4:4
Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Nope. The new covenant only requires that we walk in the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit of God begins with keeping His commandments by faith in Jesus Christ.

Rev 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Walking in the spirit of error is always with transgressing God's commandments.

Eph 2:1
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Anyone that is spiritual by their beliefs alone, while doing evil, is hypocritically deluded by their own spirit of error:

1Ti 4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

2Th 2:10
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

And transgressing the law of Christ is how to walk after the flesh, not the Spirit.
Nope. Walking according to the flesh is what leads to transgression. You keep getting things backwards.

Nope. Walking according to the flesh is what leads to transgression. You keep getting things backwards.
No one transgressing commandments is walking after His Spirit, and no one justified with God is walking after the flesh.

Faith and keeping the commandments is the beginning of justification and walking after the Spirit.

No transgressor has yet begun to believe God and be justified. No doer of evil is born of God.

No one transgressing commandments is walking after His Spirit, and no one justified with God is walking after the flesh.

Faith and keeping the commandments is the beginning of justification and walking after the Spirit.

No transgressor has yet begun to believe God and be justified. No doer of evil is born of God.
Justification takes place when one believes. But that doesn't keep anyone from transgressing the law. Saved individuals still sin.

One can walk in the Spirit or walk according to the flesh. If the first case, one will not sin. In the latter, sin will always follow.

Ezek 18:31
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Acts 2:37
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?...Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

We see here that unrepented transgressors are not justified with God. Transgressing the commandments of God must cease, in order to enter into the kingdom of God. Only by repentance of all transgressing, can anyone keep God's commandments.

Luk 17:8
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

We see here that keeping our Lord's commandments is good, but it is not profitable to our Lord's kingdom. It is only what all must do to abide therein. No one is rewarded for keeping the commandments alone, since trasngression is death.

Mar 10:19
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Once again, we see that Jesus loves all His people keeping His commandments, but unless we go on to personally serve and follow Him, we lack the one thing He loves most:

Rev 14:4
These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Heb 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Once again, the beginning of faith toward God and salvation, is repentance and keeping His commandments. But perfection in His faith and kingdom is only by the profit of doing what is not as by commandment alone: Personally obeying Him at His word of service and good pleasure.

Col 1:10
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

James{2:21}
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

When Abraham offered up his only son to the LORD at His word, he was not keeping a commandment, but making a personal Friend.

And so, we see that repentance to keep God's commandments is the beginning of His salvation, but is only the beginning, not an end in itself.

1Ti 1:5
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned;

And so, all that repent and keep the commandments of God in His kingdom of righteousness, are rewarded with resurrection from the dead unto life. But only them that take up the cross to personally serve and follow Him in all things, shall be justified and called His Friend, even as Abraham:

Rom 4:12
The father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

1 Jo 2:5
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Jhn 8:29
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

The only reason we are saved is because God keeps His word to save those who believe. If we rely on our promise not to sin, we will end in failure every time. Our job is to rest in Christ, through faith, who is the Word. He has done all the work necessary for salvation.

This is not fair, and if you are Catholic, then that would explain the unjust animus.

No, it is very fair because there are people from his day that verified he was a drunk, and no I'm not a follower of the catholic cult.

By the same token I'm not a follower of the so called reformed movement as they failed to simply return to the plain reading scripture and failed to accept the whole counsel of God as laid out in His written Word so these people are agents of darkness as are those involved in the catholic cult

People need to be aware of the tares teaching the wisdom of men as though it were the wisdom of the Lord because they are deceivers who don't even know they have been deceived.

Jesus said the path that leads to life is narrow and few find it. Sadly, the so called reformers and the catholics are still wandering around in darkness due to their refusal to repent and embrace the whole counsel of God.

Some points for you to ponder from the Word of the Lord!

1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Galatians 5:16
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Romans 8:13,14
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

2 Timothy 2:21
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Did ya notice the empowerment of the Holy Spirit? It's Him working thru His people are they submit to His leading?

Most claiming to be Christian today have lip service unto the Lord but their hearts are far from Him which is obvious as they engage in walking after the flesh rather than being led by the Holy Spirit based on God's written Word.

This is the falling away were people have a form of godliness but deny the power as they are not abiding in Christ but rather they abide in the carnal minded religious teachings of whatever religious clan they belong to put the teachings of their clan above what the Lord teaches in His Word.

Justification takes place when one believes. But that doesn't keep anyone from transgressing the law. Saved individuals still sin.
Correct. Having faith alone doesn't keep unrepented sinners from transgressing God's commandments.

Rev 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Only having the faith of Jesus keeps His repented saints from transgressing His commandments.

One can walk in the Spirit or walk according to the flesh. If the first case, one will not sin. In the latter, sin will always follow.
Correct again. The double hearted can do both at times by their faith alone.

Jerem 3:10
And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.

Luk 11:34
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

Rev 3:15
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Only the single hearted are delivered by Jesus Christ to only do good, and not any evil.

3 John{1:11}
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that is doing good is of God: but he that is doing evil hath not seen God.

Christians by their faith alone can continue doing both evil and good. But the time must come to repent with a whole heart, and no longer be double minded with the devil and God:

2 Cor{6:14}
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial?

Jas 4:6
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Rom 7:24,
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The only reason we are saved is because God keeps His word to save those who believe. If we rely on our promise not to sin, we will end in failure every time. Our job is to rest in Christ, through faith, who is the Word. He has done all the work necessary for salvation.
The only reason to reject the commandment of God to repent from transgressing Him, is to justify unrepentant transgressors by faith alone.

Unrepentant, of course, always ends in trasngression.

They rest in their own Christ, whose word justifies them while transgressing. The work of a Christ to justify unrepented transgressors fails every time in the grave.

Jesus Christ has done all the work necessary for men to repent and be saved from sinning.

Mat 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jhn 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

1Jo 3:5
And we know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him is not sinning: whosoever is sinning hath not seen him, neither known him.

Jesus Christ takes away the transgression that condemns the world.

Unrepented transgressors of the world seek a Christ to keep them from being condemned with the world, not to keep them from doing the world's evil.

Most claiming to be Christian today have lip service unto the Lord but their hearts are far from Him which is obvious as they engage in walking after the flesh rather than being led by the Holy Spirit based on God's written Word.

True. It's the Christianity of doing less evil than before, and so still do evil of the world. Their form of godliness is better religion than before, but not pure religion of Jesus Christ:

Jas 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The reason being obvious: They only repent with half a heart from some transgressions, but not from all commanded by God.

Therefore, in their OSAS gospel they continue to speak as the world of continuing to do transgressions of the world. They never preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and speak as sons of God doing good, and not doing any evil with the world:

1Jo 4:5
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Ok. Fair enough. If Luther preached sin and trespass justification by faith alone, then he preached the forerunner of false OSAS gospel.

Which is not new, but is the old false gospel of faith alone justification rebuked by James 2, 1 John 3, and rom 6:

Rom 6:1
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

OSAS justification without judgment of works, is continued sinning with grace alone and faith alone abounding more and more...

Rom 16:18
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
