hello everyone, i'm married. this is what i would do if i were looking for date. i am a born again Christian. 1st, i would ask Jesus for a Christian woman but i wouldn't stop there. i would consult a pastor about any Christian women available. i would ask friends if there were any worthy recommendations. by course, praying is another thing i would do. but as for not "seeing" someone as in Christian dating apps, i wouldn't recommend that. how do you know someone is or isn't fooling around posting false profiles? nothing beats seeing a person, just like the old days. yes, that sources works here & there but the old way is foolproof.

Meet in person is the key.

Anything before that is common communication.

I never asserted either of these things.

Maybe He'll rescue you from your desires for sleep, good food, etc. next. What about all the married couples in the Christian world? Are all of them "enslaved," as you put it? Most pastors and church elders are married, in my experience. Would you call them "enslaved"? Why didn't God "rescue" them?

Christian principles are relevant to the topic of romance/dating/marriage. Just like they're relevant to lots of important issues. So, no. I won't. Sorry.
Not relevant at all. Sorry.

"Modern dating feels broken, isolating, and trapped in a 100-year-old social experiment—leaving many to falsely romanticize the 1950s as "ancient tradition." But two thousand years ago, early Christians built thriving, lifelong marriages using a radically different, community-centered approach. "

Not sure what your point with this article is. This article emphasizes the importance of sexual purity. Not the importance of choosing to stay single forever. This author is, actually, married. He even wrote a book about dating, actually, that I've read. And nowhere in the Bible is marriage called "profane."

You seem to think that we should only apply Christian principles to certain areas of life. Or that Christian values have nothing relevant to add to topics like dating. Alright, then. Believe what you want. I don't suppose it makes any difference, given that you, personally, have no desire to date or marry. Fine with me.

Don't worry, Lovette! I'm not trying to convince you to date or get married! You're free to avoid that terrible, dreadful fate if you wish!
The point is that "sexual purity for happy marriage" is false prosperity gospel, your "simple concept" is nothing but survivorship bias, it's like one startup millionaire's success story doesn't represent the other 99 or more failed startups.

You wanna apply Christian principle? Alright, stay pure, not just sexually pure, but spiritually pure, and seek NO return - no promise of a date or marriage or any luck with a lady. Would you take that as a token of your faith?
What about all the married couples in the Christian world?
What about all the taxpayers in the Christian world? Render Caesar's to Caesar and God's to God, don't mix the sacred with the profane.

Not relevant at all. Sorry.

Oh, OK. If you say so. Let's just ignore whatever biblical wisdom we can glean when it comes to the topic of romance and marriage. Sounds like a great idea!

However, if you mean that is irrelevant to you, personally, well, sure, I get that. I know you have no desire to marry. Of course, not every Christian on this planet is exactly like you. Crazy, I know!

Alright. What's your preferred model? Young betrothals? Do you earnestly desire that the Western Christian world would reintroduce this?

The point is that "sexual purity for happy marriage" is false prosperity gospel, your "simple concept" is nothing but survivorship bias, it's like one startup millionaire's success story doesn't represent the other 99 or more failed startups.

Did I ever say, anywhere, that sexual purity is a formula that guarantees you a happy marriage in the future? No. I did not. Why do you always pretend that people on this thread made statements that they never even made? It's baffling.

Also, there's probably a larger proportion of people, or even Christians, that get married, than there are Christians who become startup millionaires.

The biblical wisdom you can glean is to desire God and his holiness, that's the point of quoting that article - from Desiring God. Anything else is just a temporary delusion, crumbs fallen from the master's table. 1 Cor. 6:12, 10:23.

Alright. What's your preferred model? Young betrothals? Do you earnestly desire that the Western Christian world would reintroduce this?
My preferred model is submission to God, yield your life to His will. The world is not of your concern, as the world will love itself.

Yes you did, you've been consistently pushing "happy Christian marriage" to ridicule me, that Christian faith leads to happy marriage, happy marriage proves Christian faith, even though that is typical circular reasoning, and marriage is not a unique Christian practice. If "chastity = devotion = godly partner = happy marriage" is not the formula, then why you keep weaponizing this talking point "what about all those happily married Christian couples", and then play innocent? That's what's really baffling to me.

Did I ever say that staying sexually pure, or spiritually pure, guarantees you a date or a marriage? No. I didn't.
Yes you did. How else would Christianity be relevant to modern dating? As long as you mix the two, you're promoting the said formula.
 Whatever that means!
Is a legal marriage validated by the government in your country and culture? Yes or no? Do you acknowledge this or not?

I guess getting an education, finding a job, and finding a home, and making friends are all temporary delusions. We should all forget about that stuff, then!

If, for you, this means stay single, then stay single. Fine with me. I'm not trying to convince you to get married, Lovette. Don't worry! I know how terrible you would find that particular fate!

No, I haven't said any of these things.

Well, on second thought, yes, I did say that it's possible for Christians to enjoy healthy and happy marriages. I understand that you find this to be a crazy fantasy. OK. Believe what you want. I don't see how that personal belief harms anyone, really, given that you, personally, have no desire to marry. So, sure, continue to believe that. Fine with me.

The reason I mention that is because you keep doubting whether such a thing is even possible. Personally, I do have friendships and relationships with Christian married couples, and it's possible to observe whether they have healthy and loving relationships. Crazy, I know!

But, no, I never said that anyone is guaranteed marriage simply by, say, staying a virgin. The Bible doesn't say that, as I'm sure you're aware.

Yes you did. How else would Christianity be relevant to modern dating? As long as you mix the two, you're promoting the said formula.

No. I never said such a thing, nor do I believe it. Why do you constantly accuse people of believing things that they never said? It's baffling. Do you just enjoy arguing online? That much?

Is a legal marriage validated by the government in your country and culture? Yes or no? Do you acknowledge this or not?

Yeah. So? What sort of marriages would you prefer? Would you prefer that marriage licenses be delivered by angels from Heaven or something?

They might as well. It would be a better use of time than continuing to argue about it in this thread. Can't be worse.

Alright, go ahead. I never mentioned any of these.

No, you're saying marriages are "healthy and happy" because those couples are Christians. I just find that a typical survivorship bias.

The only thing crazy is promoting friendships and relationships with a Christian label as a selling point.

As long as you push "Christian dating", you're guilty of everythnig I've said of you. "Christian dating" is an oxymoron.
Yeah. So? What sort of marriages would you prefer? Would you prefer that marriage licenses be delivered by angels from Heaven or something?
Yes, I do prefer that, only then could marriage be truly qualified as a Christian practice rendered to God. As long as it's validated by the government, render it to the government. I keep bringing this up to ridicule your "Christian marriage" talking point, as long as marriage license is issued by the government instead of angels from heaven.

What's worse is promoting dating with a Christian label, mixing the sacred with the profane. I said it many times - those who follow Jesus don't bother with dating, those who date don't bother with Christ, that's the culture I live in.

Let me put it succinctly I doubt "happy Christian marriage" for the same reason you doubt "health and wealth" prosperity gospel. If you are intelligible enough to understand that Christianity is not a get rich quick scheme, then how come you don't understand that Christianity is not a get married quick scheme either? "Christian marriage", "Christian dating" is as legit as "Christian investment" "Christian portfolio."

I've addressed everything you mentioned already. And you continue to accuse me of making statements I never made.

I assume you will continue to do so. Am I right?

How have I accused you? How many times have you hurl "happy Christian marriage" at me to ridicule? Are you intelligible enough to also understand that correlation doesn't equal causation?

Sorry. "Misunderstand me," then. And no, I never meant to "ridicule" you by pointing out the simple fact that happy Christian marriages are both possible and real.

I've told you this soap opera is just like all the others - ever-revolving plotline. If you come back nine years from now it will still be the same plot.

Or how about this plotline, that in this era and economy, it's hard enough to make ends meet by yourself, dating is a game and a luxury, no exaggeration, dating app has "gamified" dating.

Then choose singleness for yourself, Lovette. Fine with us.
