I suspect by now you've seen that though there may be some superficial similarities between Christianity and Islam, the differences are significant and run deeply. Because of this, the similarities are irrelevant. What follows is a simple presentation of the Good News of Jesus (in summary form) as taught in the Bible:
Jesus is God. There is only one God. His inner nature is love and holiness together.
God created the physical realm in which we live. He created all creatures, and lastly created humans, and called it all good.
In order that they might choose to love Him, God gave humans the option to choose their own way. They did. Because of that choice, every single human being (except one) inherited the willful rejection of God; this is called sin, and it separates us from God in such a way that we are powerless in ourselves to overcome that separation.
From the beginning, God planned to redeem humans, by giving them a way back to Himself. This was prophesied many times and in many ways before it happened. At the right time, God Himself came in the form of a baby, Jesus, and grew to be a man. He taught, performed miracles, and challenged the warped understanding about Who God is. Though He was innocent of all wrongdoing, and did not have the sinful nature in Himself, He was crucified. He paid the complete and sufficient penalty for the sin of humans. He died, and was buried, and rose again to life on the third day. These things He did because He loved the world He had made.
He will come again to judge both those who are alive and those who have died. Only those humans who have believed that He is Who He says He is, and that He has paid the penalty for their sin, will enter into life.
This same Jesus loves you, and would like you to get to know Him. So I encourage you to abandon the false god of Islam and to embrace the true God, Jesus. In Him, and only in Him, you will find true life, peace and love.

Well, doctrine is about following a creed that liberates right? But Christ came not to fortify a creed but to start a new one found in a man/God; Himself. A radical transformation from all temple based religions of the past. Thus, the, "Can't we all just get along and celebrate our similarities?" as a point well served, undermines the incredible thing at risk here: Salvation, and a love relationship with God. In addition, Christianity actuates love to all people including sinners in simply becoming it, thus, it is by grace that Our Lord Jesus manifests this unconditional love gig in all His Children. So we can already get along as you put it. But for me to adopt a doctrine that exhumes death in another and celebrate it is simply foolish, and not evident of love.
As a Christian I view Muslims as the first victim of Islam. Fanaticism comes from a small number of dangerous men who maintain the others in the practice of religion by terror. To liberate the Muslim from his religion is the best service that one can render him, for there is one truth, one way, and one life; Jesus Christ the giver of a love relationship that free's our personality not to enslave it to a totalitarianism fear that says predestination makes us robots. There are many specific differences in our differences that change the Deity of Christ; Thus, it is a concern indeed.
If we are truly Christian or spirit-filled we do accept you -- unconditionally so, but to celebrate our differences is moronic and does not give credence to the thing that is at stake here -- Salvation and our relationship with God thru Jesus Christ. I don't know about you but that's a recognized reality.

In some ways, I kinda feel bad about it. Though I dont believe they actually did come here to seek the truth, I really hope that this person finds the truth in Him, and doesnt continue to follow a false prophet.

The problem with Islam is an emotional short circuit
1. Obey Muhammed he is the voice of God
2. Kill the enemies of Allah or you are apostate or a blasphemer
3. Anything that opposes Islam is a corruption of the truth faith
Now if you pledge yourself to these three principles no one can argue with you, because your conclusions are pure brainwashing. There is no justification of these principles or openness to discussions about life, love and truth.
It is why once people get locked into the mindset it is difficult to get them out of it. I personally would argue that everytime such statements are made in public the equal opposite arguments need to be freely expressed. In muslim countries this is a capital crime, treason against the state. In Saudi to even cast doubt on the argument is to risk prison, loss of status or family acceptance. It is why this works like a conquering plague of the mind, once they get a hold on power, it destroys what we would call freedom.

No don't feel bad when people insult Jesus resurrection with "peace be upon him" that guy was another islamic troll (which has been an uptick lately) probably sent to brainwash and "soften" christians to islam...they come with this false "everybody gather around the campfire and sing ...let's all get together attitude" and then try to subvert believers....don't feel sorry one bit my friend!

A part of me was hoping they could come to see the truth in the word of God, and be able to move past the Muhammadan teachings theyve been feed since birth and feel safe seeking the word of God away from him. But like I said, I had a feeling their mission wasnt to seek the truth but to do exactly what you said : p

Sadly I have 100% confidence I won't be asking for a drop of water looking up b/c my salvation is secure in Jesus.
There is also nothing humourous about Christians allowing islam to beat them over the head and stomp on them like a doormat while screaming "acceptance" when it is an intolerant ideology that gives no place for contrary views....passivity will be the greatest doom for the modern church because they have been taught to be doormats and allow all other false religions to shout them down, and make true Christianity to be quiet....
How can you allow someone to say Christianity and islam are similar....it's as crazy as saying the day is the night...they are two opposites...plus saying "peace be upon him" is equivalent to saying rest in peace.....aka mocking/denying Jesus resurrection....yea islam is soo similar to Christianity that it says Jesus died whereas Christianity says He died and rose again....this has been a pattern of posters the last two weeks trying to "white wash" islam as a peaceful religion (this is why im calling it religious trolling which it is), similar to Christianity etc...and it's a type of brainwashing to dull Christians to accept islam....it's all over the place and people refuse to acknowledge that islam is being coddled by media and society and Christianity is being forced to accept islam while islam will push Christianity out eventually b/c of the softness of modern Christian who refuse to stand up for their faith and call a devilish religion like islam what it is....

Religiously we share nothing really ... he is living under false doctrine.
But he is a human being...no better and no worse than the rest of us.
We are called to love our neighbors and even our enemies ......
I think it's too bad we didn't get more of a chance to share the gospel of grace that we ourselves have been so blessed to have received when we were enemies of God.

Perhaps you should read all the responses. As I said in mine, what we allegedly share is actually very little. After you have read the responses perhaps you should read the site rules.
The only thing i could figure out is the guy wanted to be friends. Maybe we must not to be too harsh. Unless we are accepting we can't win hearts. You don't chant Jesus is the way and your prophet is....... That makes people hate us and turn away. Lets just discuss and let them see for themselves where truth lies but when we are harsh, it gives a rethoric that we are forcing which helps not !!
I don't think of muslims as enemies... they are people with different beliefs (wrong, I think) than mine. I don't like to think of hindus as enemies, either...
do muslims agree that jesus rose from the dead? I heard they don't, and that's a primary, or *the* primary belief of christians.
I like to discuss stuff like this without arguing, so I hope you'll stick around!

What I saw is someone wanting to celebrate the similarities while overlooking the differences. I've had JW's at my door doing exactly the same thing, being nice and friendly, just before they start emphasizing their heresies. If the OP was genuinely here to build relationships and promote dialogue, then his banning was unfortunate, but that is not my call to make. Hopefully he read enough of the truth to go away and think seriously on it.
