That's not what the Lord said in His Word:

1 John 1:5 says, God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

My mistake, I thought God was God. You make the error of assuming that because God is light, then light must be God. That is evidently not true. Read the creation account in Genesis. God created light.

are you a born again Christian? if so, it's odd that you don't believe the earth is 6 or 7,000 years old. when i fully retire, i may read that info. what God says about anything is tops & true! what do you know about drumming, silver coins, antiques or gourmet dining?

It's known as Gap theory or the pre-Adamic creation. One proponent is Larry Ollison, I've watched his videos on the subject. Watchman Nee also spoke about this in His book, "The Mystery of Creation". It answers some difficult questions about the age of the earth and why it appears to be older than 7,000 years.

I do not believe in billions of years or even millions. However, the reality is that no one can prove the past because it is all circumstantial evidence. And it has no bearing on salvation. All I will say is that you can be born again and believe in a relatively old earth.​

Thanks. I've looked at both points of view and the young earth view leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions. I also am sure that dinosaurs are not millions of year old. How old is the earth? God has not chosen to make that clear.​

Do you not know that there are many kinds of light? God is light. He also created light. God is not His creation. I have lights in every room of my home. It's not God shining out of them. God created the sun and the sun gives light. God is not the sun. No, 1 John 1:5 is not a lie. Your issue is a lack of logic and reason.

Genesis 1 has this to say:

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.”

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years. And let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth.” And it was so.

God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well.

God set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth, to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

Your reasoning says that God said, "Let there be God". God did not make Himself.
