Does an eyeliner tattoo count, lol. That's the only one(pair) I have but have many Christian friends who have Scriptures verses, crosses or Jesus tatts. Do you know who Sheila Walsh is, a prominent speaker on TBN....she has a semicolon tatt representing a mental health org she's involved with. Max Lucado, who I consider a devout Christian and Joyce Meyer have them, just to mention a few. Is this Scripture relevant here:
Romans 14:22 means that if a believer has a strong conviction about a certain action, like eating certain foods, they should hold onto that conviction for themselves and not try to impose it on others who might have different convictions. It emphasizes personal faith and conscience, suggesting that one should not judge or condemn others for their choices within the realm of disputable matters.
Also:
Leviticus 19:28, which prohibits making cuttings in the flesh or tattooing marks upon oneself, is generally understood to be directed at the ancient Israelites within the context of the Mosaic Law. While the passage is part of the Old Testament, many Christians believe it is not directly applicable to them today because they are under a new covenant. The original intent of the law was to distinguish Israel from pagan practices and to maintain a sense of holiness.
Hope this helps.

Jesus modeled how we are to live as we continue the process of being conformed to the image of the Son.
Yet we know from the beginning in Genesis God "put a mark on" Cain.

Women with tattoos?
Uggghhhhh....

Hate to tell you ladies, guys prefer ladies without tattoos. And I TRIED to explain this to my Sister who is still seeking a husband but can't find one. But she got her feelings hurt.

I get it....for some people they are an identity thingy. But it really does not define you except for the associated psychosis surrounding getting them.

Same thing with guys. Where women dont really care, but you are giving away secrets about yourself when you get one. The biggest being about your confidence and nervous tension levels.

Call it double standards all you want. But thems the facts.
We are saying people who get tattoos have psychoses?

Well you always did like painting with the broadest brush you could find...

Women with tattoos are alright if the tattoo is small, cute, and strategically placed that would be hidden with clothing. No tats on neck, below the neck, and face. Not too fond of piercing either except maybe for the ear lobes.

Could be a deal breaker. Of course, I'm happily married so really don't care what women have as far as tats are concerned.

Personally, I don't have any, and my wife doesn't either. In Florida, they used to have branding, or maybe still do as I have been away from the state for a few years. Can"t recommend that.

I remember one lady who was at a Chinese restaurant one time, reading the menu, and there was some Chinese writing in an elegant script. She was so impressed with how it looked that she got it tattooed on her forearm.

Only after she got it permanently etched on her skin did she find out that, roughly translated, it meant "cheap, but good."
truth in advertising?

I have no desire to get a tattoo.... I'm too pretty now, and if I got a tattoo, the response would likely be more than I could bear....

Actually, I can't think of anything that I would want permanently inked into my skin....

Actually there is one... single... thing... I might be able to see myself getting permanently etched on my skin.

If I ever find a lady and marry her, I might get a tattoo of a ring. Easier to not lose, won't fall down the drain accidentally, and there's no way to slip it off to have an affair.

It's all currently a moot point though.

I researched the origins of tattoos and body piercings a long time ago and learned that they were used mostly by polytheistic cultures.

The only Biblical references I can think of are in Revelation. It's about the 144,000 from Israel's tribes.

14:1And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

22:4And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

7:3Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

@shittim ,

"Having his Father's name written in their foreheads" is open to interpretation. I don't believe that this is something that they will get at a tat parlor.
I can't even call it a tattoo.
It's just the only counter that I see to the pagan tats and mark IN the foreheads that the beast requires with worship.
To the contrary, This is the Father's name.

They are mentioned again here.

3And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 6And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

A friend of mine, used to be a Bandido, turned his life around, etc.... had "Mary" tattooed on his forearm...

His wife's name was Anne....

Mary was a short lived flame from years before.. tattoos are a semi-permanent reminder of your less-than-well-thought-out decisions.... many times, decisions made while under the influence...

Not one of you people know why tattoo's are even a sin. In fact I go one further and say you do not even know what sin means. You regurgitate things you have heard without understanding, because you have not asked the LORD for wisdom as instructed. I wouldn't have an issue with ignorance if it wasn't for the distasteful judgement and haughtiness that has filled this post.

You throw about disgust, hate and judgement. What part of "judge not lest you be judged" don't you understand?

Should anyone get a tattoo? No.
Should you judge those that do? No.
Should you say it looks awful? No. What part of "treat others as you want to be treated" do you not understand? Do you want everyone to comment on where they think you lack in appearances? I Think not.

A rebuke does not mean hate. A certain spirit would try claim such, and its not the Truth.

The darkness does not like the light. I simply brought to light the darkness in all the posts that came before me. My post is grounded in scripture and Spirit. You just accuse, which again, is of a certain spirit, and its not of the Truth.

Do you have any? Are they religious in nature? How do you feel about them in general and do you feel they are sinful?/morally unacceptable?
Personally I never had the desire to PAY SOMEBODY to stick needles into me for no good reason. Lev 19:28 seems to prohibit markings specifically as a memorial to "the dead" however ROmans 14:23 is the consideration - If you can't DOE IT IN FAITH, then it's SIN for you.

Yes there is certainly a lot of rebuking going on around here. It seems to be a favorite hobby.

You will fit right in just fine on this forum. Your rebuking is one of very many.

You might want to step up your game though. We got some professional rebukers around here. You don't want to fall behind. You could stand to improve a lot, both in quantity and quality of your rebukes. There is so much more excoriation you could be doing.

But the question is, do you secretly enjoy it?
Depends on whether the one who started this thread participates any. Right now it looks like he's a troll trying to start arguments and then sitting back to watch the show.

If he participates it will be interesting. If he does not, then it is just the same comments made by the same people every time this topic has come up before. I have already seen that show a few times.

Well.... thank you for straightening all us "lesser saints" out....
It's good to have someone that actually is fully in tune with the Spirit, such as yourself, to show us the error of our ways...
I feel properly chastened....

I thought Christian markings are primarily on the heart rather than on the outside, and generally involve a complete circumcising rather than a generic tattoo or two...
