That sounds very big of you. Very condescendingly forgiving.... hopefully, you just worded this badly....

Yes.... this is the key statement here... well said...
It's a question of confession. Not condescending. I don't like seeing them personally I find them offputting. I'm confessing that and it's a reality for me. I do think that people who have them often have other issues. So I think there's an indication there and the reality is when we see this kind of thing we do have to Consider that we have no clue what's in their heart. So how was that condescending?

That's why I said it like I did.... I hoped I was "mis-reading" it.... I agree with you on this.... I have to make myself not pre-judge someone based on appearances.... whether tats, or clothing style, or hair length, etc...

I try never to shame people who have tattoos
This is the sentence I was referencing... it sounds condescending, but I understand now, that is not the way you meant it....

I think I used the word "try" here because I think inside sometimes I feel bad for the other people and maybe I shouldn't because they are OK with their appearance.

But if I feel bad for somebody because of appearance, and I know the way that other people treat them, sometimes it creates a barrier and I don't want to have that. So the many social barriers in the whole question of appearance or clothing or anything of that nature is complicated. Because I've had situations where I was too friendly with people who I felt uncomfortable with, and it made it even worse because they interpreted it as me being open to some deeper friendship and I found that difficult for various reasons.

This can get into a very big discussion about the difference between being a good brother or sister and loving and taking care of other people And how deeper friendships are selective.

Because I know some believers who don't think you should be selective in your friendship and you should just try and be brotherly or sisterly with everybody, which is not really realistic in my point of view, but having said that I definitely want to have a heart of compassion for anybody I meet.

I live in a city that has quite a bit of homelessness and I never want to walk by them without acknowledging their presence or saying hello at least. I generally try to stop and talk to them from time to time and interact and the ones I see regularly on my way home I know all by name… Now you see how the prejudice could be construed ....now I went from tattoos to homelessness 👀

My point has been lost within the several posts back and forth. To say the above disregards everything I have said prior to this.
we can start over if you wish....
I disagree with using a Levitical law to say that a Christ follower is "sinning" if he/she breaks it.
I believe we are free in Christ.... free from the nit-picky, jot and tittle type of rule keeping that the Hebrews did.
I think that most of the "laws" laid down in Leviticus do not pertain to Christians at all.
We are to love the Lord God, and love our fellow man. If we do those things, we will not covet, or murder, or any of the other laws from God.
If we begin cherry-picking old Levitical laws to justify our personal beliefs, then in reality, we bind ourselves to following ALL the old Levitical laws. You can't have one without all of them.

Or.... we could follow the general laws written in our hearts, directly from our Savior.... and not nit-pick about eating certain foods, or drinking certain drinks, or celebrating certain holidays, or NOT celebrating certain holidays.... freedom in Christ.

It’s actually a preference. For me at least.
Like chocolate or vanilla.

I don’t like tats !
yeah, but the discussion has moved on from that, into damnation to all who oppose. personally, I wont get any, bc another member took time to explain in a caring way why they were bad, not because of all the ones who told me tats were a one-way ticket to hell.

It’s okay if people are passionate about a topic. Forgiveness is part of our blessings too.
Also when a persons says “you’re going to Hell” realize that it’s not God saying that but just another sinner.

But I do agree with @JohnDB and a few others including a former cop who gave their opinions about tats.
It’s about perceptions and how you’re perceived not to mention that for me this goes back to dumb trends started by liberals.
To make this even more personal I can say that even if my kids (boys) get tats I will tell them that I hate the tattoo but I’m not going to disown them or anything like that.

Yeah....the girl in the video i posted getting her tattoos lasered off said she was a lot more mature now than when she got them....and she is tired of people seeing only the tattoos instead of her.

Imagine that....
I cant imagine nobody didn't say anything like that to her before she got her first one....or last one....or all the "dumb ones" as she described them.

Sometimes things that seem like a curse to us, is really something lined up for a big blessing from God. This was a lesson given by a Pastor at church one Sunday. What happened to me was a corrupt cop tried to lie saying I had my thing hanging out, swinging up and down on the highway. But when the other police seen me, they found out that I was the wrong type for that. I am not a shower like he was claiming. He tried to put me in prison for 20 years with that lie, because this is what the penalty is for this thing, they call you sexual offender. I was saved because of something I have always found a handi-cap. It was just as the Preacher was teaching.

I don't think disowning your children is the solution... love never fails
