However the (now grown up) lady who played her is charming. She wrote a memoir about the movie and wrote how she had a lot of fun. She was only 12 or 13 at the time. She was a theatre kind, she did plays and musicals. The OG Charlie, didn't have any acting experience, never made another movie, and I think he became a Vet.

The OG Charlie was really sweet - you were rooting for him from the beginning. He was so poor that his family could only afford cabbage soup.

I have never toured a chocolate factory (you could do it down in Dunedin when they had Cadbury's) but I have toured an ice-cream factory. I might let you in a few trade secrets if you promise not to tell.

I haven't been there in a while, because they closed down the shop where I went. The last time I was there, they had fudge in the glass case where the register is. A nice gentleman who worked there was behind the case. I asked for a couple of the fudges. I checked out and after I got away from the store, I found that he had packed me a variety of the fudges in the shopping/gift bag

We used to have this shop called 'Death by Chocolate'
You could order hot chocolate drinks and drink them there. And they sold decadent chocolates.

I've seen that movie. I've probably seen a disturbing amount of horror movies. I had to start going to the movies by myself (which I actually enjoy!). When the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake came out, I wanted to go see it. A friend at work told me she'd go with me. While we were watching it, she's got her hand up to her mouth and I'm trying not to fall asleep. Afterwards, she pointed at me with an angry look on her face, "I'm never going to the movies with you again!" And she didn't This began my solo movie going days.

I watched a lot of movies solo too. I moved across the country so I left all my long-time friends behind and never really made any new ones. I saw that Karen Carpenter doll episode when it first aired. I was only a kid and I'm pretty sure it traumatized me.

I probably have powerful upperbody strength. I like working out in the outdoor workout areas at state parks (in the ATL area in particular) and I can do 200-300 reps on the machines where you sit down and pull your body up. Other people can keep their feet on the ground making it easier, but since I'm short I have to pull all of me up lol. There's 3 of those machines. I did 900 reps one day altogether.

I can't even do 1 pull up. I used to be able to do 1 and a half a long long time ago. I actually bought a pull-up bar last year and have it at home and I started using it with assist bands hoping to work my way into unassisted pull-ups but life got busy and stuff and I couldn't do it anymore.

I haven't been doing pull ups. I'm not sure why, but I actually haven't even tried since probably childhood lol.

I found a pic I took of one of the machines I like to use. You set down and pull the handles down. Most people's feet touch the ground, but mine just dangle When I pull the handles down (or lift up or squeeze together, depending on the machine), I have to pull all of me up. Short girl probs. But, it worked out because after doing many reps of these for a while, I noticed that my trapezius muscle was looking like Chris Benoit's lol.

I've never seen a machine like that. It looks like a type of pull-down machine.

@Pipp and I have been on opposite ends of the acceptance scale when it comes to this horrible line of "stuffed animals."



She thinks they're adorable -- I personally think they should be thrown into The Lake of Fire.

Notice their extremely human-like teeth -- I'm pretty sure these guys could easily chomp off some poor suspecting FULLY GROWN HUMAN'S arm -- or leg.

I CANNOT BELIEVE they actually market these terrifying creatures to CHILDREN!!!

BUT, Pippy loves all creatures big and small, whether they're adorable -- or look like serial killers just waiting to be let loose.

And this goes for actual humans, too.

I have seen her be kind in situations where I just had to grit my teeth and try to resist saying anything I knew I might possibly regret...

We're going to have to keep an eye on her.

Much as I love @Pipp, if anyone is secretly feeding or showing affection to a Whangdoodle...

However the very first time I heard Karen Carpenter sing in the tv movie I think it was 'All of My life' it just sent chills down my spine.
She really did haunt me and her story is just the saddest story ever.

OMG how could her mother not love her or show her any affection? She always felt second best to Richard, even though everyone else loved her, thought of her as lead sister, and she had a wonderful life full of love and laughter.

Why did she starve herself?? It don't make sense.

sorry this not wangdoodle related. The Barbie dolls have copped a lot of flak for being too skinny. I think it's the impossibly long legs in proportion to the rest of her body/torso. They now make them in all sizes.

Anorexia, bulimia, anything like that is a very serious disorder.

The guys/family that own Zuru are filthy rich, and everyone hates them (sorry! we are meant to love our enemies!) because they wanted their private helicopter to land in their suburb and disturb everyone else. So they tried to get the council to change the rules JUST FOR THEM.

I can't believe I typed Karen Carpenter. I meant the actress Karen Black. Sorry for the confusion.

Someone said Karen's eating disorder started when she overheard some producer on a tv show say she looked fat in a yellow jumpsuit she wore on stage. It was a jumpsuit so it naturally looks puffy.

We need to be very careful what we say to each other about our size. Young girls are naturally growing and curves are a good thing. Better curvy than skinny and bony like I was.

I currently don't have any plans to shut Zuru down as they are too popular but parents hate them for all the plastic toys they've flooded in the market, and children collecting them. Then they boasted they started the business from nothing, but actually the Zuru guys come from a well-off family and had the capital to risk it all, then they take that idea to China to get their toys manufactured cheaply.

Barbie got her start in sort of the same way (copying other ideas) and she got made in Japan.

At least Hello Kitty is benign and is a cheery kitty not a monster, or some kind of impossibly skinny fashion doll with a big bust. I was looking at Barbie dolls the other week because we were practising this Billie Eilish song 'What was I made for' which was in the recent (a year or two ago) Barbie movie.

Anyway you can buy all these dolls but you have to buy a new doll all the time if you want a different outfit which is completely stupid, or a clever marketing move if you are thinking of ways to make your toy company rich. If they really cared about young girls playtime and imaginations, they would just sell the outfits (they only do some) and accesorries so you can just dress up that one doll in lots of different outfits. But every doll I've seen in stores today come all kitted out and there are no corresponding wardrobes so you can mix and match them.
