Mum had singer sewing machine, foot operated, was still using it until the pulley thing broke.
She had industrial one too that requires electricity, but I don't touch it cos it's noisy and scary for me.

My favourite part about using a sewing machine was winding the bobbin. Even knitting I like winding yarn into balls. Something satisfying about that.

Nowadays few people can afford to sew/make entire garments, as fabric shops are few and far between, and the ones left are too expensive. Its cheaper to buy ready made clothes.

The satanic mills still exist, they just moved to other countries that industrialised.

Tuning the guitar is something I have to do every time I take out for a play. Kind of grinding to get the right note/key

Grinding brakes to come to a grinding halt gives me a grinding headache.

Who grinds their peppercorns?
I do, cos I like the spice freshly ground, it's more fragrant
I think it's a waste of time grinding salt though. It can come already ground, you don't get more and more flavour the tinier it is.

I just watched a 10 minute sewing class by a master repairman. Then I Did a search to post it where it might help others. Now I see your post.
Those big ones can be scary.
I see why you call them satanic mills. Here in the states they called them sweat shops. They had all of those machines putting out heat in closed dark factories where conditions were tough.

Here's Randy the Friendly Repair man.

Last month I happened to come across one of the properties I used to clean house when i was a student...in the homes for sale section of the newspaper. I remember the lady's kitchen I cleaned for had a beautiful mosaic floor, and her walls were orange, and she had a lovely big wooden kitchen table that I had to wax so the honey coloured wood glowed.

But when I saw the picture in the paper, the new owners had 'updated' the kitchen and they ugly-ised it! They just painted everything white, had the same mixer taps and handle-less cupboards that every other new kitchen on the planet has, and they put veneer plastic wood all over the beautiful mosaic floor.

It was like they had bought a beautiful sparkly multi faceted diamond with rainbow colours, and just cut it so it became this dull hard edged cubic zirconia.

huh I am ranting. Again.

The daily grind...cutting diamonds??
I had an uncle who was a diamond cutter.

My dad worked as a compositor for the newspaper so he sent things to the printing press. Back in the day when the newspaper was actually made of paper. He'd cut and paste the news articles so they would fit on the page, and the classifieds.

I had a journalism class in high school where I did those very same things. Unfortunately, not as accurate or productive as the work that your dad did. My final grade for the year was a D. Thought that was unfair and I was deserving of at least a C. OK, maybe a C minius. Time to get real.

That was the same year that I got a D in French. Only remember one word. I guess that high school bored me. Did much better in college though. Averaged a 3.5 GPA.

Oui.

Non!

Man were you on drugs in High School?? Cos many students were...and even today, most either vape or are addicted to their phones now.

I was on prescription drugs cos I had concussion. But they didn't know at the time what was wrong with me. I had a very good year in fifth form (grade or year 10?) had top exam marks, and then crashed in 6th form, then scraped through in 7th. Still managed to get a bursary and into University though.

A stressful time. I can understand why people drink and smoke, even though it's bad for them. I just think there need to be alternative ways to relieve stress. Not everyone can afford a holiday.

The best way to reduce stress on children is an active family environment. If your children are experiencing great stress, how involved are you in their everyday life?

When you are a teen, everything is stressful.
I'm talking about when I was a teen. Teens are usually young adults who haven't left school or home yet. A teen is someone aged 13-19

I don't have children.
But I will say this, homeschool isn't always the answer, a lot of parents think it is, but the children when they grow up don't think so. If teens aren't bullying or bullying each other...siblings and parents can be the biggest bullies!

I haven't been using it every single day, and it makes a huge noise, but only for a few seconds.
I make banana milkshakes, its much easier to plug in and do this than mash and mix it up with a fork
