I've taken up consideration of the two verses that come up when I search "obey the gospel."
2Thes 1:8 and 1Pet 4:17 both speaking to those that do not 'obey the gospel,' 'of our Lord Jesus' and 'of God,' respectively.

I've concluded that of the two groups that require that I 'keep with their traditions' have degrees of their own error that they'd like to offer me. One meets on Saturday to keep the "old" tradition, according to Moses', and the other to keep the "new" tradition, according to the apostles' having met 'on the first day of the week. Meanwhile, in reality, there's no real way of escaping God any day of the week.

The Spirit is given to convict us sin- breaking the law of God, but we are not given the Spirit to dwell with us initially, we have to make the decision we love God and want to serve Him, that we will keep God's commandments before the Spirit is given to dwell with us. If we have a harden heart the Spirit has nothing to work on and will not force Himself on us. The Spirit enables us to keep the commandments, but we first have to hear His voice calling on us and not harden our heart to to will of God.
Where is any of this in Scripture?

Why there is a IF here- its conditional. So if we are arguing about His commandments chances are - we are allowing our own heart to deceive us.
"An if", not "a if". I must conclude that you and all the other legalists are allowing your hearts to deceive you.

One is a commandment of God written by God spoken by God Himself. Exo31:18 One stated at Creation before Jew, Israel or Moses Exo20:11 and continues on for eternity, thus saith the LORD Isa 66:23 because it comes with God's power of Blessings Exo20:11 Gen2:3 and Sanctification that no matter how hard man tries they just can't do that to a day or themselves. Isa 56:2 Eze20:12 removing God out of the equation is just not a good idea. Isa 66:17

There is no Sunday keeping tradition in all of Scripture. A one time meeting on a late Saturday night after sunset, because Paul is traveling the next morning, a one time meeting in all of 30+ years is hardly a tradition. Nothing about changing God's holy day- that would put man above God and the apostles all said they were servants of God and a servant obeys God Isa56:6 not countermands Him.

This is what the apostles did every Sabbath it was their custom because it is one of God's commandments that God placed in the same unit as only worship Him or not stealing from our neighbor. Stealing sacred time from God I do not believe is a good idea. The apostles' taught keeping the commandment of God is what matters. It will be very hard pressed to prove the Sabbath is not one of His commandments when God said it is Exo20:6

Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

Acts 17:2 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

Acts 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.

Acts 15:21 For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”
This is what a saint of God looks like according to Jesus:
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Just as God said right in the Ten Commandments
Exo 20:6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

We need to be careful which voice we are serving and abiding to.

In the post you are replying to. Regarding what the Spirit convicts us of if we here Him is here John16:8

You claim its a legalist to love Exo20:6 John14:15 and serve the LORD Isa 56:6 -God says its love.John15:10 Basically one is accusing God of being a legalist to love Him. We need to be really careful which character we are beholding. Its the devil who wants us to disobey God and stay in our sins 1John3:8 which Jesus is trying to free us from our sins Mat1:21

You continue to have confidence in your obedience. You might even sing songs about it all the time.
Sadly, what you are doing is exactly what you accuse me. What voice in all of Scripture tells us to keep the first day holy. Please quote it.

My confidence is in the God who made us and all of Creation and what He said.

Exo 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

This was written by God, spoken by God. When our Heavenly Father asks us to Remember something, it must be important. Do we show love to Him forgetting what He asked us to Remember, or doing what we want instead.

You live in the shadow. Perhaps someday your light will shine.

You want to talk about cherry-picking? You are counting a word while ignoring what every single story in that chapter actually shows. Every person in Hebrews 11 moved when God spoke. That is obedience, whether you accept the word or not.
Again... let's take a look. Does the text in Hebrews 11 tell us in each case that the person "moved when God spoke"? Does the original story from the OT tell us that the person (or people) "moved when God spoke"?

Verse 3: All of us; nothing about obedience there;
V. 4 Abel: no;
V. 5 Enoch: no;
V. 11 Abraham: no;
V. 20 Isaac: no;
V. 21 Jacob: no;
V. 22 Joseph: no;
V. 23 Moses' parents: no;
V. 24 Moses: no;
V. 27 Moses: no;
V. 31 Rahab: no.

Go and read each story and you will see that in MOST of the cases cited, obedience to God's command was not a component of the action cited as evidence of faith in Hebrews 11.

Do your homework!

You live in the shadow. Perhaps someday your light will shine.
You keep using your words and not Scripture, but Jesus promises the Sabbath continues on in the New Heaven and New Earth because once God blesses something its Blessed forever 1Chron17:27, and no man no matter how much they disagree with what God asks if we love Him, can't take away the Blessings of the LORD Num23:20 they can sadly only forfeit their own blessing God is trying to give us Isa56:2

Isa 66:22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the LORD,

“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.

Those who accepted His invitation to serve Him

Isa 56: 6 Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—

Because they make Jesus their LORD instead of someone else

Mark 2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Jesus is LORD of the Sabbath day, it means someone else is lording the first day that we have chosen to serve Rom6:16 Dan7:25

God loves us so much He will never force anyone to keep the Sabbath for all eternity if we are so opposed to it now. If people would trust the voice of the LORD one would see how He can transform our lives Eze20:12. Sadly, most follow what's popular with man- despite the warning of Jesus Himself Mat15:3-14 Mark7:7-13 , because they do not hear His voice and follow Him and allow Him to be their Shepard.

Perhaps someday your light will shine.
Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Psa119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life

No ! "Ascribe" means to attribute or assign a quality. We cannot ascribe glory to God in the sense of adding to His inherent glory, but we can give Him glory in the sense of reflecting His character, honoring Him, and acknowledging His greatness.
Dictionary.com gives a fuller picture of the meaning:

"ascribed, ascribing:
to credit
or assign, as to a cause or source; attribute; impute.
to attribute or think of as belonging, as a quality or characteristic." (emphasis added)

We aren't authoring the quality in God; we are recognizing it. You have your knickers in a twist over nothing.

The translators (experts in language) disagree with your opinion as well:

Deuteronomy 32:3 (KJV)
because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

Psalm 68:34 (KJV)
Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.

1 Chronicles 16:28-29 (Young's Literal)
Ascribe to Jehovah, ye families of peoples, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.
Ascribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Lift up a present, and come before Him. Bow yourselves to Jehovah, In the beauty of holiness.

Job 36:3 (Young's Literal)
I lift up my knowledge from afar, And to my Maker I ascribe righteousness.

Psalm 29:1-2 (Young's Literal)
A Psalm of David. Ascribe to Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.
Ascribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Bow yourselves to Jehovah, In the beauty of holiness.

Psalm 34:3 (Young's Literal)
Ascribe ye greatness to Jehovah with me, And we exalt His name together.

Psalm 96:7-8 (Young's Literal)
Ascribe to Jehovah, O families of the peoples, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.
Ascribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Lift up a present and come in to His courts.

Isaiah 42:12 (Young's Literal)
They ascribe to Jehovah honour, And His praise in the isles they declare.

You also need to do your homework... and untwist your knickers!

I've taken up consideration of the two verses that come up when I search "obey the gospel."
2Thes 1:8 and 1Pet 4:17 both speaking to those that do not 'obey the gospel,' 'of our Lord Jesus' and 'of God,' respectively.
One last thing for your consideration, when it comes to the gospel. There is only one gospel and its everlasting and it included worshipping our Creator. And our Creator points His creation back to the Sabbath.

Rev 14:6Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7;saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

God is pointing us back to keeping the Sabbath. Because God made the heavens and earth in six days and blessed the Sabbath day at Creation, made for mankind. Mark2:27

Exo 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Sadly, most people have gone away from the voice of God and are serving another by their actions instead of being faithful to Him. God made the Sabbath to spend holy time with us from the very beginning, because He loves us and wants to bless man Isa56:2 and sanctify us Eze20:12 because we can't do this ourselves. When we keep the Sabbath is shows we are trusting in God and resting in Him for our salvation because without the sanctification of God Eze20:12 - we really are nothing. Why its so important to hear His voice and make Him our God Eze20:20 because there is another voice trying to snatch us away.

So if you prayerfully read Rev14 Jesus is trying to call us back to worship our Creator Rev14:7 because sadly many are not. They have followed another voice in the garden who changed God's times and laws as predicted Dan7:25

Why we see in Rev 14 where He is calling us back to worshipping Him because that's what the final battle over is over our worship. Who we worship is who we obey. Rom6:16 Why Jesus said false worship is keeping mans traditions over obeying the commandments of God quoting right from the Ten Commandments Mat15:3-14 Mark 7:7-13

Rev14:8 8 And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Because the false church has made all nations follow her and beleive in her authority over God's

Question: Which is the Sabbath day?
Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath day.

Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
Answer: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.
—Rev. Peter Geiermann C.SS.R., The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50
Q. Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?

A. Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her; —she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.
—Rev. Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism; New York in 1857, page 174
Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act. And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters.
—C. F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons, in answer to a letter regarding the change of the Sabbath, November 11, 1895.
The Sabbath was Saturday, not Sunday. The Church altered the observance of the Sabbath to the observance of Sunday. Protestants must be rather puzzled by the keeping of Sunday when God distinctly said, 'Keep holy the Sabbath Day.' The word Sunday does not come anywhere in the Bible, so, without knowing it they are obeying the authority of the Catholic Church.
—Canon Cafferata, The Catechism Explained, p. 89.
The Pope is of so great authority and power that he can modify, explain, or interpret even divine law". The pope can modify divine law, since his power is not of man, but of God, and he acts a vicegerent of God upon earth
—Lucius Ferraris, Prompta Bibliotheca, art. Papa, II, Vol. VI, p. 29.
Deny the authority of the Church and you have no adequate or reasonable explanation or justification for the substitution of Sunday for Saturday in the Third - Protestant Fourth - Commandment of God... The Church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.'
—Catholic Record, September 1, 1923.

9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships (obeys) the beast (government) and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

This is the problem

11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

And God's solution

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

which of of course are His commandments - the ones He personally wrote. who has more authority than God. The devil things He does, why he tries to change God's times and laws (the Sabbath) but is not successful Isa66:23 he is trying to deceive us and has made a counterfeit to what God said. I say we obey have serve God the way He tells us and trust He will only lead us on the narrow way back to Him.

There is no Sunday keeping tradition in all of Scripture.
Tell me just this one thing:

Where in Scripture does God prohibit or discourage the gathering of His people to worship Him on any particular day?

Oh... He doesn't. Maybe you should stop doing what God Himself doesn't do.

We need to be careful which voice we are serving and abiding to.
We don't serve a voice. We don't abide with a voice. One does not "abide to" anything; one "abides with".

*Shrug* I'm not going to lose sleep over your words or opinion concerning me. Stop assuming you're important to me, lol!

🕊
Don't worry.

The only posts I've ever read of yours are merely demeaning others. So I'm not in the slightest interested.

Look at Saul in the OT.

He choose to disobey God. He choose to sin.

1Sa 28:6 And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

Sin, his chooses, seperated him from God.

When we sin we are seperated from God

God does not leave us or forsake us. We leave God, we forsake Him by sinning.

He will often seek us out and if we repent He will restore peace in us.

Can we have Guilt and peace at the same time? No
We can't have sin and the presence of God at the same time.

Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

1Jn 1:9 KJV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Isa 48:22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
Isa 57:21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Peace comes from God and iniquity drives God away.

He wants to be near us but our sin seperates us.

Repent and turn from your sins.

I'm sure you have felt the Holy Spirit talk to your Heart.
If you keep ignoring God and harden your heart you can not hear Him anymore.

Jesus is God's chosen way to salvation. A believer in Christ who has their sins forgiven and who is living for God, empowered by the Holy Spirit within, has NO GUILT. Zero, zilch, nada, ichhts, rien and every other language under this sun.

Since we do have the Spirit of God within, God is always and forever near us. If you think otherwise, then you do not understand salvation or possibly do not know that the blood of Christ cleanes us from all sin and enables us to go to God the Father without fear. He welcomes us; He does not turn us away. We are not living undercondemnation and we are not ancient Israel presenting animals to be slaughtered for forgiveness that was only temporary since the blood of animals does not cleanse from sin as does the blood of Jesus.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. I John 1:7

We are never instructed to go back to the covenant God made with the Israelites and live in fear and constantly think we are sinners living in wickedness. I don't think you seem to understand that God does not review our sin and decide how He is going to let us have it. Rather, He sees us as being IN His Son who fullfilled all of the law for all time.

And, unlike the false claims of some on this forum and in this thread, no actual Christian, no blood washed believer in Christ, thinks for one single minute it is ok to keep sinning or cause others to sin. If someone here says that, they are not being truthful.

Tell me just this one thing:

We don't serve a voice. We don't abide with a voice. One does not "abide to" anything; one "abides with".
We should worship God 24/365/7 but Jesus is His own voice warns about keeping man-made traditions over the commandments of God. There is no commandment to keep the first day holy in all of Scripture, but there is to keep the Sabbath day holy, which is the seventh day. This is a commandment written by God Himself Exo20:8-11 Exo31:18

So when we lay aside the commandment of God (saying its not for me) to keep a man-made tradition, Jesus said ones heart is far from Him- God placed His laws in our hearts, not mans traditions Heb8:10 and our worship to Him is in vain.

Mat 15:3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”—6 then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,

Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

Mark 7:7 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men

Is anything we need to do?

As my shepherd I look at the bible and the life of Jesus. It is the source of wisdom and understanding. It guilds my steps.

If the bible tells me to go left and a spirit tells me to go right, which one should I follow. ???

If the bible states that the commandments are good and holy and just but the spirit filled preacher states that the commandments are death and bondage, which one should I follow???

You should follow Christ. You should study the NT, in the light of the old if you have patience for it, and stop trying to be good. We have new life in Christ, all things are become new. This means you have a change of heart if your belief and faith are not just words, and you will no longer desire to sin as you did before. This is a process called sanctification. You do not instantly never sin again, but, God sees you as sinless because of His Son who died to save us from death.

The commandments are from God but not the measure of how good we are. I don't think you know what spirit filled means. This false teaching of the commandments being the covenant is creating people who think they can please God by being good. Now I don't think people who know scripture, who have studied it and understand it will turn to the commandments because they are indeed a death sentence which is why Jesus was sent by God to die on our behalf.

Believers have the Holy Spirit indwelling them. Not a spirit. There are many spirits but God is Spirit, the One and only and His Spirit is not a spirit. It is best not to mock what apparently, you may not understand if your post is any indication.0

The commandments of God a death sentence in the NT?

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus

One of the last verses in the Bible before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ:

Rev 22;14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Sadly this is so backwards. Sinning and breaking the commandments separates us from God Isa59:2 obedience through faith reconciles according to God. Anyone can say LORD LORD, but He actually really wants us to only worship Him and keep His commandments.

We should worship God 24/365/7 but Jesus is His own voice warns about keeping man-made traditions over the commandments of God. *Sigh*

Miss the point much?

When it comes to criticizing Christians for worshiping on Sunday, you have no argument.

Even if we were under the Law (which we are not), we are not violating the fourth commandment by worshiping on Sunday.
