First of all this is just a funny joke that most people say when someone wants to leave. In that link i also make fun of that idiom.
As far as the discussion between you, Magenta, Ted or ResidentAlien goes, i would say that if you don't know a lot about the people here than i would suggest that you don't say a whole lot.
Magenta is right about RA, but if you don't believe that, run a search on his posts to find out for yourself.
So i would advise you get to know some people's personalities and writing styles first.
Also, don't take this too seriously anyway. It's the internet. If you make an assessment about someone, this is more for you and only you. You're not going to get a raise or a demotion on your job basically.
Like you said earlier, it's mainly about enjoying the edifying things that someone has to say. That's what i'm after too. I apply this concept in real life too. Ignore the white noise and focus on the good stuff.
