Much of what is revealed to us, now, is the timing of the Lord in our own lives and within the spheres of our influence. All revelation will align with the scriptures and with the character of God. God will not lie and He will always keep His word.

I don't believe there is "extra-Biblical" revelation. The canon of Scripture is closed.

However............

I DO believe in illumination, where the Spirit reminds us of what God's Word already says. In many cases, He opens our eyes in a sense to different passages of Scripture so that we understand them in ways we perhaps haven't before. But again, the Spirit, being God, will always show us what those passages mean as God intended them. He will NEVER tell us something that God has not already spoken.

We should always approach Scripture using exegesis, not eisegesis.

So you don't believe God or Jesus can reveal Himself to a muslim to save him? Ypu need to read the testimonies.
So you don't believe the Lord can send somebody into a hospital room to tell them He's going to heal them?
You see, EVERYBODY believes it when it's their turn to receive what they need.
God's revelation to men has nothing to do with the canon of scripture.
Dreams, visions, prophetic utterances are all God revealing His will to men.

I don't think that's what he means when he says "canon".

Canon is the written word. We are NOT to go beyond what is written...so it makes sense that more would not be written and that every revelation will fit within the confines of the written word.

I rather like how Dino246 put it on the first page.

That is my default but I do think that private revelation is a thing just that we need to be careful (e.g Joseph Smith)

There are certain things that are not yet revealed (seven thunders for example) but nothing that will be revealed will contradict what has already been written.

It's a great way to gauge things and if what you are going through has no biblical context to gauge it by? Probably you are off in the danger zone or well beyond what is written possibly. Just something to consider.

Didn't you say you've been put in a mental hospital many times by your family?

And say you've received electro-shock therapy?

Those do not sound like the type of experiences most people would want to have :censored:

Precious friend, would exegesis be like these BIBLE study Rules?

Matthew 24:
33so you, too, when you see all [f]these things [taking place], know for certain that He is near, right [g]at the door.

What things? We are not given specific details. However, with wisdom and understanding of scripture, and guidance from the Spirit, we see the specifics of prophecy clearly unfolding.

As Christians, isn't that our greatest wish? Doesn't that make us all prophets?

I've met such thing.

Long ago on a female singer's Forum(Avril Lavigne). a person's avatar drew some things. I remember the picture,

I didn't know who he or she is, but he or she asked me:"what to do?"I didn't understand why he or she was asking me on the forum.

and then things happened on me same as the avatar in the picture.
I just thought you would like to explain this :)

The avatar which used by the person that draw someone came back from outside with a MP3,and it happened to me only after few minutes, My brother came back from outside with a MP3, The scene I saw was exactly the same as that picture, It made me a little upset and a little scared at the moment. I didn't know what was going on in the world.

if that was you,"what to do?"

Hmmmm.... I've had a very violent "apocalyptic" reoccurring nightmare since I was a child... every time I run a high fever. But I've never had a "waking dream" or vision. I suppose all that's really important is, what does it mean to you?

What to do, Perhaps it means living not as we wish but as Jesus did that according to the will of our heavenly Father.

This is very slippery slope, as much so as extra-Biblical revelation. If we allow for "illumination" where does it stop? Everyone has an illumination—I have one, you have one, everyone has one. What if they disagree? This is a very postmodern thing: that is, the only meaning scripture has is what it means to the person reading it.

It's better to assume the written word has one meaning and try to understand that meaning.

What do we do with postbiblical revelation? If someone believes they have received a revelation from Jesus or His Father how
do you respond to the one sharing it and the revelation itself?
It depends on what it is. Jude says 'the faith is once delivered to the saints', but the New Testament also teaches 'covet to prophesy' and to 'despise not prophesyings.'

If someone is claiming to have a revelation of a new gospel, that we are saved through some other man who claims to be a new reincarnation of Jesus or something like that, we are to reject that.

But we should also obey scripture about church meetings and 'let the prophets speak two or three and let the other judge' and various other admonitions of scripture.

Ok...
All of Creation and the Universe has been literally screaming at mankind...and they haven't heard a word yet.

Some schmuck saying they got a word from God for me because I am not going to hear it any other way? Now that's going to be highly suspect...

People are not listening to God's messages to mankind or individuals because they refuse to. Pure and simple.
We are usually focused on anything and everything other than what is important.
God had the Bible written for us. Spent literally acre-feet of blood insuring that it would be available and accurate for us today. And for whatever reason we only seem to know what the local pastor says it says on tithing and a smattering of morality lessons.

If I were God I would have given up a LOOOONNNG time ago...called it a day and been done with the mankind exercise. God is much gooder than me. Be glad about that.
