Order, in this context, means "class" or "rank". The key point is that Melchizedek is not one of the Levitical priests, nor is Christ. Melchizedek had no peers; there are none like him in the OT.
Melchizedek is two words in Hebrew, King and Righteousness……..King of Righteousness. I know Who That is, and you do also.

Since the Aaronic or Levitical priesthood would come to an end after the crucifixion of Christ, and the sanctuary on earth would also come to an end, God planned to make the Lord Jesus Christ our great High Priest in the Sanctuary in Heaven.
However, since Messiah was to come from the tribe of Judah, God set up a special priestly *order* for Him -- the order (appointed succession, position, or rank) of Melchizedek.
Melchizedek was a mysterious King-Priest who met with Abraham, and to whom Abraham offered a tenth of the spoils which he had taken from the battle of the kings in Genesis. There has never ever been a King-Priest, and this Melchizedek had neither father nor mother, neither beginning of days nor end of life. So the logical conclusion is that Melchizedek (King of Righteousness, King of Peace) was none other than the pre-incarnate Christ Himself. Study the epistle to the Hebrews.
Melchizedek was the king of Canaan who along with the King of Sodom when out to meet Abram after Abram's slaughter the four kings with five according to Genesis 14:9.

Melchizedek was a vision of the reincarnate Son of man used as a one time demonstration as the eternal Son of God. The Holy anointing Spirit Christ. He remains our high priest continually without beginning of day or end of Spirit life. God is not a man as us.

I'm not going to quote Hebrews 7 word for word. Heb. 1) This Melchizdek was the king of Salem and priest of God Most high. He met Abraham returning from defeat of the kings and blessed him, (2) and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchechizdek means "king of righteousness; then also, King of "Salem" means King of peace.
This Melchizedek is probably not Jesus because if He were the bible would say that Jesus 'was' the order of Melchizedek and not 'after' the order. The wording of scripture regarding this seems to imply that Melchizedek was not Jesus. Regardless, this Melchizedek character is fascinating as he is appears to be an unknown entity yet holds, or has held a position of high scriptural importance.
Simply put: Christ makes intercession, before God, for us like a high priest did for the ancient Israelites. Jesus, not being a Levite, is said to be in the order of Melchizedek. Which goes back to the days when there were no Levites.
The king of Jerusalem (king of Salem -- Heb Shalem -- which was the early name of Jerusalem) is what the Bible says.
Shalem is related to Shalom, which means peace. Hence King of Peace. In the whole Bible there is only one King of Peace and King of Righteousness, which is Christ Himself.

The pre-incarnate Christ had neither father nor mother, since He was the eternal (having neither beginning of days, nor end of life) Son of God.
Literally "King of righteousness" Melchizedek is an order of priesthood that has its origins with Adam the first man/high priest. The original place that Elohim dwelt was in the garden. When Adam sinned and was kicked out of the garden it is written that he was sent out bubs specific way so he would not see the pools of water and try to wash his sin there. Adam lived a long time and passed on the priesthood to his son's as a testimony of Elohim and the promise of reconciliation. We can find evidence of this in the book of Jasher as well as other books like Adam. They had all the feasts and Sabbaths even then as a foreshadow. When Abraham broke bread with Malkizadik it was most likely the feast of unleavened bread. Malkizadik was most likely Shem the son of Noach who was still alive at this time. Remember Noach lived a long while after the flood. This is most likely where Abram learned of the Elohim of his father's. Maybe not from Noach but deffinetly from the priesthood which was before and is renewed by Messiah.
The thing that people do not care to learn is that we are called by Messiah to be obedient to the Father and His instruction. Just saying we have accepted Messiah into our Heart doesn't show anyone true salvation. True salvation looks like Messiah and walks in obedience to the Father's instructions. This is the perplexing truth many stumble upon. This is the word sent to test us all to see if we will obey or not.
Simply put Malkizadik is the priesthood and the high priest is the Messiah.
