I was recently talking with someone who was filling out an online survey for the company she works for. She was giving positive feedback, yet complaining to me about all the things she disliked. Some were covered in the survey, yet instead of reporting her dissatisfaction she continued to give positive feedback. I asked her about it and she told me "Oh, I never like to give people negative feedback. I always want to be positive, encouraging and uplifting".
🤦‍♀️ But that's what the surveys are for, let us know how we're doing. Good, not so good? How can we improve and do better?

I began thinking about how I'm not like her at all in that sense, and how I would respond to a survey.
And then I thought maybe we could take this concept and turn it into a game. (@seoulsearch you've rubbed off on me 😝 )

Here are some lose, general rules, or guidelines:

To start, I'll explain my response to the above scenario, Then end by asking the next player "What would you do?"
That person will answer, my question then give a new scenario, asking the next player "What would you do" etc...

These can be as silly or serious scenarios as you want to make them. The only "rule" er, request, is that we keep the scenarios simi short and brief and don't get too long winded  (thinking of myself here... absolutely not anyone else came to mind with it 😜 . )
Aww, who am I kidding?! Write as much or as little as you need to in order to get your example or reply points out.

And most important: Have fun!

Using my above example about feedback...
What would I do?

I tend to want to be honest in feedback and/or reviews.
In terms of online reviews that public can see I'm going to be honest. If the experience was bad I'm going to let people know I thought it was bad and why I think that. If it was awesome, I'm going to let you know it was awesome and what made it that way. Personally, I don't like reading reviews that are brief or general like "It was good" "It was bad". I want to know what made it good or bad.
I don't often leave online reviews, but if I go somewhere and the service sucked then I just might get the persons name, go to their manager and let them know it sucked and why. (This might be a grocery store, restaurant, gym, the library) BUT, if it's awesome I just might be so inclined to let the person in charge know that too! In fact one time, several Black Fridays ago, (deleted my long winded story here  ) I had really awesome customer service. I called a few days later to let the manager know, found out the helpful lady was seasonal temp hire but they were looking to hire for full time and were going to use that positive feedback for support in why she would be offered a full time position. Several months later I saw her working there still :)
When it comes to online surveys, if I feel like taking them, same thing. I try not to leave too much neutral answers. Either it was great and I'm happy, or it wasn't great and I'm not happy. And if there's a section to "tell us why" I tell them. I believe honest, negative feedback can be given without becoming a negative person yourself.

Okay...

I enjoyed your story about the positive feedback that you provided that was instrumental in that temp employee secure a full-time permanent job. I have done similar feedback in the past and try to look at people in a positive light. Don't always succeed though.

Hi @Godsgirl1983!

I don't know why, but I never got an alert of your mention and only saw this thread by chance. What a great idea!

When it comes to feedback, I have to admit I tend to be more honest depending on how anonymous the method of feedback is. If I know the person will know it was me, I'm more neutral if I can't give a glowing review (if it was an awesome experience, I have no qualms pouring on the praise.)

I do understand that dealing with the public is hard, and sometimes I cut people a lot of slack because I've always worked in customer service -- and it sucks.

If I did have a negative experience, I try not to be too harsh and always end by mentioning something that was done well.

Next Player: I know this is the oldest cliche in the book, but if your friend or family members ask, "Have I gotten fat?" WHAT DO YOU SAY?

I listened to a video just the other day saying it's believed that part of why the USA has gotten so heavy is because people have "fat blindness." They aren't honest with themselves about how much weight they're really carrying -- the the people around them are too afraid of upsetting them -- or have their own version of seeing themselves unrealistically -- and no one is being honest about it.

This provides a great opportunity to formulate my response, if ever I should be asked this question.

Yes, definitely. I would answer, "You're perfect!"
and then I would take that perfect opportunity to follow that with a well-prepared sermon.

Next "What Do You Say?"
If someone asks, "Do you think she's pretty?"

Me, 'there's something beautiful in all of us. Sometime physical beauty is superficial and sometimes inner beauty can steal one's heart'.

How good are you at forgiving someone who did a real travesty to you and is so full of themselve they don't have a clue?

How good are you at forgiving someone who did a real travesty to you and is so full of themselve they don't have a clue?
Well, I like to think I am/would be pretty good about it. Trying to think of a personal example, but nothing comes to mind.
But I always go back to the verse "Vengeance is mine says the Lord" and the fact that having unforgiveness towards someone is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to be affected by it.
Typically though, when I encounter someone who is that full of themselves, I tend to just take everything they say/do with a grain of salt.

Next question:
You go through the drive through, really looking forward to your order.
You didn't check before driving away.
10 minutes later you realize that something with your order is incorrect.
What do you do?

Huh I would drive back if I didn't drive too far away. If I kept the receipt, I would show them. It depends...it might be they gave me MORE that I didn't order like a bonus or it was something yummy.
I wouldn't want to be taking someone else's order though and messing up theirs as well. I would try to be gracious because a lot of fast food workers are young, understaffed and stressed out.

Next Question
A friend who you've known a long time keeps asking you to do things you don't really want to do, and also keeps cancelling dates that they set up at the last minute. You try to talk to them about it but they don't listen and keep on doing it.
What do you do?

? Please I need to know what do you do or is this one in the 'too hard' basket?

maybe just not reply?
Or say, no, I don't want to meet up with you in two weeks time and then have you cancel on me the night before or on the day. Again.
So am going to say no now.

Why am I such an idiot about this? Why can't I just say NO and then hang up? Why am I conditioned to always say, sure?

Stupid stupid stupid. Maybe its the thousands of years of Chinese genetics that go 'say yes to everything' because in Chinese there is no real word for NO.

And the things to say no to are stupid like meeting up at a cafe. I don't want to do that again. It's boring. All it is is chit chat over nothing, and food I don't even like that is too pricy for what it is.

Now if the 'friend' said, I want to take you out to a fancy restaurant with all your favourite foods and pay for it all, then maybe.

Ok she rang again changed her mind about the cafe, after I told her was too pricy, then said come over visit her house but in 'couple weeks' or 'one day' I was tired of this and said if you want to me to come over, just call on the day and I either can or can't.

I couldn't bring myself to say 'no' I don't want to meet up with you at all.

Well, if it happens very frequently, I would try to set up camp at a place near their house, so that whenever they want me there would be no need for strife or kinks in plan fulfillment. Just get up & go. (That way I would also know if they were messing with me).
At the same time, I would also press them about everything they would need me for doing for them in advance, so I can be like a super-friend, doing the plumming work on their house, getting in the attic and patching up their HVAC system, lubing up the hinges on all their doors, killing the wasp nests around their roof, waxing their floors, upgrading their systems, etc. even doing things that they never asked for, I'd just up & make all their possesions perfect and working like new, working straight to get all it done in a few days.
As far as dates are concerned, I'd make the date after their failed attempts. Arrange a good date, a memorable date. A date they's want to reflect on (in a good way) for a while so they wouldn't want to ask for another for a bit.

Next Question:
You wake up one day to find your wrists and ankles bound with ropes in the back of a moving truck. You feel the ride for a while before it suddenly slows to a stop. You hear the doors from the cap open and slam shut, and suddenly outside there are men shouting in a forign language you've hardly heard in your life. They sound panicked, and suddenly there's two big BOOMs outside, like a bomb going off, one after the other, and everything shakes as it happens.
Suddenly the cargo gate opens, and you're greeted by a man holding a rifle in full combat gear. He looks shocked, and turns out to not be a part of the perps who nabbed you, but a member of a mercinary group working for another forign country. He breifly splurts out something that sounds like he's shocked to find you, before freeing you from your restraints and rushing you to safety with the rest of his platoon. You're in a jungle, and there's gunfire as you're moving, but you can't see who's firing back.
You soon wind up in a bunker, where for a little while you sit still while the mercinaries discuss among themselves seemingly in russian. Finally, one of them says to you in rough english: "We're moving you to safety", before handing you armor and a rifle of your own and telling you "You will need it".

What would be going through you mind in this scenario? What would you think you've dont to wind up here, and how would you feel about having to navigate a live combat area armed and equipped like a soldier?

Uhhh....
sorry, I've overlooked/missed some notifications here to my own thread.

What would be going through you mind in this scenario? What would you think you've dont to wind up here, and how would you feel about having to navigate a live combat area armed and equipped like a soldier?
YIKES!
This isn't really realistic (is it?)
But then again, I did say
These can be as silly or serious scenarios as you want to make them.
hmmm

Well, in that case @Ceph I'd be doing A LOT of prayer!

New question:
Ehhh, I'm drawing a blank right now.
Anyone want to give the next question?

What do you do when you can't sleep and want to? Or in other words, have insomnia?
And you've tried everything? Do you give in and stay up the entire night trying to get to sleep? Or knock yourself out with sleeping pills? What if they don't work? What would you do without waking everyone else up?

The answer is Jim Beam.

Honestly , I would come to terms with the fact that neither of u seem to b very enthusiastic about this friendship . That's how it seems to me . I wouldn't contact her at all . Wait and c if she contacts u . I'm guessing she won't .

seoulsearch is a good one to ask about that. She has a lot of experience doing quiet stuff that won't wake anybody up.

mm yea I had to block her from my phone. She was always contacting me and I wanting to meet then cancelling, so I stopped answering her calls, then she'd leave messages, until I stopped even listening to her messages and calling her back.

The last thing I did was drop a Bible to her house that she'd asked for, and then changed her mind about. So I just left it by her door, as I had already put her name on the dedication page, so I couldn't ask for a refund or give it to someone else.

So in effect I holy ghosted her. It's been a few weeks now, and I feel at peace. She def has mental health issues, and has for long time now but I couldn't handle it anymore.
