Don't feel bad, Passing. It's honestly kind of a rare thing.
I used to hang out in all the forums, but Singles seems to be the place where connections are made the most (probably for the obvious reason that most of us being single.) There was a regular group I used to interact with all the time when I first got here, and now only one (Zeroturbulence, one of the first people to welcome me to the forum) is left. I also keep in touch with one other person from that time who is no longer on CC. People also frequently come and go under different names and may or may not tell you "Hey, it's me!" when they make an account under a new name. Usually, they don't want people to know.
The CC crowd always flows and changes. And, like any group, sometimes you'll have people who get along splendidly, and sometimes, everyone is friendly but no one really goes any further beyond that.
A year or so ago we had a group of regulars who hung out in Singles chat nearly every night for months on end and became friends, but even now, out of about 15 people, probably only about 6 are regularly here anymore. Admittedly, chat really does take it to a new level and unfortunately, many of us are unable to participate much anymore. Life just gets busy... etc. etc. But the people I HAVE made connections with... I hope it's for a very long time... and I always hope that new connections with new friends will be made in the future.
Keep trying and don't give up! It's what the rest of us keep doing as well.

Getting to know a CC "regular"(who stays on the site for over a year and goes by the same name rather than multiple accounts) on a personal friendship level... and then actually agrees to "meet" somehow in the "outside world" (phone calls, Skype, real-life meetings) and then keeps in touch for over 6 months... is indeed very rare
(at least, in my experience.) If you can find someone like that here, they would probably official qualify as a "regular" friend, at the very least.

Ha ha, when i first checked streams the other day....I looked at the post number and thought to myself (please let Gracie be on sabbatical for awhile
