Do you have a special place you go to when you're stressed? Or a place you can be alone with your thoughts. Just a place that calms you. Can you describe it? What is it that makes it your happy place? It can be at home or somewhere else. I look forward to hearing your answers.

My happy place, in the warm weather at least, is my back deck. When we moved into our home we had a small deck that I added on to. The second deck is lower so it provides privacy. I have my swing there and I small table across from my swing with an umbrella so it's pretty shaded from the heat. I have four fountains, my hubby buys them for my birthday. And a divider to give me privacy from my neighbor. So it's like an outdoor room. I add pillows and decor to make it comfortable. Then it's my space to go outside. I turn on my fountains and I don't hear any other noises. I listen to music or sermons/pray or read out there. Sometimes I call family back home. It's my place to relax. I have lights in the evening. The only thing that bothers my peace are wasps! Ugh. If you have a good remedy for them let me know! lol

I have other places but that is the place I can go to quickly when I just need some peace and quiet. So how about you? Where is your happy place? What makes it special to you?

My happy place is the woods around my house. I have bird feeders everywhere. And all kinds of birdies visit.
There are deer, foxes, skunks, Opossum, and even neighbors kitties come to visit.

It's all the sounds of nature with none of the distractions of the worlds electronics and stresses. I love it.

Oh that sounds nice. I used to live in the country and we would often see deer laying in the field next to the house. I wouldn't say I live in the country now, but I still have Momma rabbit and her babies visit sometimes.

Yes,there are wild rabbits too. The other day a deer left one of their sheds antlers near my car.

The high grasses near by were laid flat as if a whole herd had slept there for the night.

I love the little things like that.

I retreat into my room and hide. I might play some music.

I live in a small house with a bunch of younger siblings so peace and quiet are hard to come by. Honestly I'm not used to it. I guess probably the best time I have to kinda reset is when I'm driving alone. I often drive in complete silence (no music/radio) and just think or pray.

Often im one of the first to wake in the morning so that's often when I read my bible and have some quiet time before the noise begins.

When I lived on my own, my apartment was my happy place from the outside world when I wanted to relax or have quiet time. When I want some quiet or privacy at home now, I go to my room. At work, I may take a break outside or in the cafeteria during the non-lunch hours. I also find having a light meal/coffee at an eatery during non-busy hours to be therapeutic. I can find peace and quiet at a mall food court during the non-busy hours.

Ideally, in the future I'd like to turn my home into a therapeutic space with the right decor and color (furnishing, plants, lighting, and paint color).

While I have to agree that my bed is definitely comforting (with exactly 3 blankets and 4 pillows,) my current favorite spot is a place on the carpet wedged between the couch and the coffee table.

Yes, I could just sit on the couch and that would probably make more sense, but I fold myself up like an accordion on the floor with a book or magazine on my knees, then sit and read for as long as time will allow. (Maybe I'm actually part cat for liking to maneuver myself into small spaces.)

Along with my happy place, I usually bring along my happy reading, which are things I want to read or even just page through for the pictures -- just for fun -- no matter how simple or serious.

I guess that's why I associate happiness with that spot -- it's a place I go to at the end of the day that's for pure enjoyment.

The last book I "read" was a delightful illustrated kid's book about elephants, and I'm going to stop in next week to see if that author has any more. :D

No. God is everywhere, and my PEACE is in HIM, not circumstances. "Places" are meaningless, since I'm the problem and wherever I go, there I am.
It's not a CC thread without at least one Jesus juke.

Cats only like tight spaces when they are feeling insecure. If there is a wall on either side of you, that is two sides you cannot be attacked from. When they feel secure and comfortable in their environment, they sprawl out in the open.

So if you like to squeeze between the couch and the coffee table because you are part cat... What are you feeling insecure about?

Well, better make that 2 :)

I wasn't going to post because it's one of those things I could get long winded over, and just really don't have the time for typing long winded replies these days. But @Bob-Carabbio summed my similar thoughts/feelings up nicely.

I am blessed to have such a busy, hectic, crazy life. But there are situations in it that make getting away, or retreating to a quiet place, or "me time" almost impossible. But sometimes just closing my eyes, taking a deep breath, and whispering a prayer, giving thanks in ALL circumstances is enough to put me in a state of feeling I've reached that euphoria of getting to be/or go to my "happy place"

My cat sprawls out when he is next to me or in a relatively close approximation of my location. I can't imagine that he sprawls out when I'm not home since I usually see him emerging from the basement when I arrive, probably from some crack in a pile of clutter (he has to share the house with an overly attentive hound). But @Bob-Carabbio, who I will refer to as 'the rabbio' going forward, does bring up a good point in mentioning HaMakom, The Place, along with the astute observation given from the vantage point of your treelimb, challenges me to be more cognizant of whether I am stretching out or curling up to fortify and guard my guts.

But, similar to @seoulsearch, I'm most comfortable with my knees drawn up to my chest, sitting on the floor (it might be an Asian thing). Even when sitting in a chair I have a tendency to draw up one knee or the other, maybe for a hug, idk, or maybe it is for the extra warmth being that I'm more sensitive to chill so that 'chilling out' doesn't appeal to me as much as 'warming up' does. However, I'm not sure if that speaks toward me more than it speaks toward the condition of the world.

With that said, I just realized that my happy place is my nuzzling my nose into my cat's fur without experiencing any serious allergic reactions, and his graciously tolerating it.

My balcony is at least one of them. I’m allowing my nicotine addiction to flourish there and I can see that gulf no one longer knows the name of.

Naming it the Closed Gulf would seem a bit too optimistic at this time, I guess?
