Hey Everyone!

I found Susanna's (@Texasgal) thread to be a very interesting and insightful read:

https://christianchat.com/christian-singles-forum/your-man-looking-at-gorgeous-women.220141

I recently accompanied my mom to a little senior get-together that had a live singer.

The singer was a good-looking and very fit guy probably in his late 40's, maybe early 50's. He was lean and muscular, which was very obvious even though he was fully covered in dress pants and a long-sleeved, button-down shirt. But his clothes were so tight that you could tell he obviously works out regularly, because every arm muscle was rippling under the fabric of his shirt as he played his guitar.

Now, I don't fault the guy at all for showing off, but I joked with my Mom that maybe he wore that extremely tight clothing -- hoping to get a few extra tips, especially from the ladies.

This reminded me of a guy friend I have who works in landscaping -- he's young and strong from carrying heavy materials all day -- and he's told me how some of the senior ladies (where most of their business is from) often try to catch his attention, usually by answering the door in see-through clothing.

I have another guy friend who has been incredibly successful, but he got there (and maintains it) by working 7 days a week. I keep telling him I don't want to find out he's keeled over from a heart attack, but he's been through a lot, and he's always trying to prepare for the absolute worst. He works all his stress out at the gym, so he's developed the build of a football player, even in mid-age -- and often has Instagram model-type women half his age throwing themselves at him -- especially when they find out about his work.

In Texasgal's thread, we were discussing how women would feel if they knew their men were looking at beautiful women, or saw them looking at beautiful women.

So, how about the flip side of the coin?

Men, how would you feel about your women looking at beautiful men?

I realize in Susanna's thread, we were talking about passing glances -- such as out in public, where the men didn't know anything about the women, just that were very pleasing to the eye.

* In the examples I just gave above -- if you are a man and were out with your woman, and she didn't know anything about these men except that they looked good to her, how would you feel about her looking at them?

* And ladies, how do you feel about looking at other gorgeous men who are not your boyfriend or husband? Is it allowed, as long as you don't flirt, "make a move", or throw yourself at him?"

* For instance, what if a couple goes out for date night -- and their waiter is an extremely attractive man?

* How would you all feel about the woman giving him a passing glance, vs. a long stare?

Surely surely, this wouldn't happen? Lol

My whole life, I've always heard things like, "God made men visual!", and it was given in the context that God Himself made men biologically wired to oogle women, deserve only the most attractive woman as a wife, and be addicted to porn.

When I grew up, I started asking, "If God made men visual -- does that mean He made women blind?"

I tried to follow the link to Tex's thread and was alerted that the page could not be found . The flipside of all of it is that there are those that look at a beautiful person and hate them, just for being beautiful. Why don't we hate beautiful flowers? or beautiful birds? Rather, we only comment on its beauty, directing the other to notice it, inviting either an agreement or an expression of their personal critique of the aesthetic. Why should it be different when it comes to people watching?

Oh, .. Women are very visual. They like the look of a muscular successful man. I've been around women who are "oogleing" men and they can be worse than guys! 😆😆😆

I was talking with a female friend a while back about why women go so gaga over a good-looking guy.

And she was saying that she thinks part of it is that they seem rare to find (compared to men seeing beautiful women out and about.)

Our culture (at least in the USA) bombards women with the message that they have to be beautiful in order to fit in, and there are a myriad of products and treatments to supposedly help us get there. Now of course, not every woman is going to adhere to this, and not every woman is going to fit the cultural standard of beautiful.

But I would guess that a whole lot more women put in the effort than men do (if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me,) and with all the crazy contraptions they've come out with, it can be easier for women to fake beauty than men (just Google "before" and "after" makeover pictures.)

I've heard a lot of men say they don't like women who haven't lost the weight from having a baby or look pregnant when they aren't -- but I never hear them talk about all the fact that a lot of MEN also look pregnant, which I see all the time -- and they could never even biologically carry a baby (despite what the crazy Alphabet Mafia is trying to tell us.)

I'm certainly not trying to shame anyone, male or female, I'm just saying -- let's have a more equally balanced set of standards, please.

And I completely understand that diet and fitness is and everyday fight. I'm about to have breakfast and what I really want is a donut (maybe two,) a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit with a big side of hashbrowns, maybe a couple of pancakes on the side, and a hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.

But what I'll actually be having are 2 scrambled eggs with spinach, just to make sure I get in a vegetable, half of a baked pear, and maybe a small spoonful of mac'n'cheese, just to get my carb fix.

And of course, women also run into the next challenge, which is, even if they do see a good-looking guy -- a good number of men who put that much work into getting fit -- are doing all that to attract men instead of women.

Hmm.

My apologies if the link can't be found -- you can also go to the Singles page and scroll down to find it by title -- sorry about that!!

Excellent point about the dark side of beauty -- I've known many people who have suffered for being beautiful -- whether through assault, abuse, unwarranted expectations ("I did something nice for you, so you owe me!"), or just plain unwanted attention.

Hearing some people's stories, I've often thanked God that He made me plain enough that I haven't really had to deal with stalkers (not that this can't and doesn't happen to anyone, but I've seen some beautiful people get stalked and it makes me thankful to just be able to blend into the background.)

That is funny though.

I tried that too, and I do remember seeing it earlier. But it isn't there now, I'm totally missing it. :(

Hmm.

I'm not sure what's going on. When I go to Singles, it's right there, maybe about 6 threads down the page? (It's location will move, of course, as people answer different threads.)

Here's the first post from the thread.

Maybe clicking on the part in blue will take you to that thread. (I just tested it and the link worked for me...)

So, this was a big no for me when I was younger.

Today, pushing 50, it’s not a problem at all. I’m a widow, a single and all that, but if I were going steady with someone and he was looking at beautiful women I would in fact appreciate that.

Any takes?

She is my goods, my chattels; she is my house, My household stuff, my field, my barn, My horse, my ox, my ass, my anything; And here she stands, touch her whoever dare; I'll bring mine action on the proudest he That stops my way in Padua. Grumio, Draw forth thy weapon, we are beset with thieves; Rescue thy mistress if thou be a man. Fear not, sweet wench, they shall not touch thee, Kate: I'll buckler thee against a million.

I am SO looking forward to the day when a man ABSOLUTELY melts my heart by calling out, "Fear Not, Sweet Wench!!":LOL::geek:

To which of course I shall answer, "Praise be for thine rescue of mine completely helpless self, My One And Only Brave Donkey!"

I already answered this in the other thread, so I will content myself with a song quote.

Every girl crazy
Bout a sharp dressed man

That’s also why some of us are so into men in uniforms. Or sharp dressed otherwise. Or at any rate lol.

Truth be told though, sharp dressed is a better deal than a carpet bagger kind of guy.

Playful teasing has been my go to in such scenarios. "He's cute, yeah? How about I put in a good word for you and head for the nearest exit?" :D

Appreciating the beauty of others in passing can be above suspicion. Like setting eyes on the transience of a rainbow, or the glowing streak of a meteor. Leering amorously and provocatively at strangers goes beyond what is proper or acceptable though.

If I weren't single, I would shut my eyes to any other woman's physical aesthetic. Not because I'm a saint, I just wouldn't want the woman I had long waited for to doubt whether she was really more than enough for me.

Thank you. Yes, I did totally overlook it. :geek:

Somehow, you always manage to combine humor, fluid, poetic-like verse, and heartfelt sincerity in every post. 🌟

It's great to see you back, @Kainos! 💐
