There are some threads started which pique my interest. I read them in the morning before I start my day and think about the topic and any insight I might add or questions I may have concerning the matter. Then I log in at break or lunch time only to see pages and pages which I need to read before replying lest I repeat something someone else has already posted. By the time I catch up, my break time is over and/or the thread has reduced to denigration of believer by believer.
Yesterday I wanted to post about 1 Peter 5:10 to Blain in the man of sin / the man of righteousness thread. By the time I had composed my post, the thread had been closed.
Philippians 2 tells us we are to be humble and esteem others better than ourselves.
Philippians 2:
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
In 2 Cor 5, we are reminded we are ambassadors for Christ. As a representative of Christ, are we to hold another member of Christ's body in contempt?
In 1 Cor 12, we are told every member of Christ's body is needful and necessary and the eye cannot say to the hand "I have no need of you". We all need each other and the Lord Jesus Christ needs us to be a fully functioning, healthy, robust, body looking only to/at Him in love. Instead we look at each other in contempt. As James 3:9 states Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Before submitting a post, we should use the preview function to read over what is going to be submitted and think about the tone of the response. Would we want to be addressed as we are addressing others? Doesn't take but a moment to edit a word here or there and remove any inflammatory remark.
I think the last thing I would want to do is tell a brother or sister that they are not a member of Christ's body. IMO, that is the height of chutzpah and there will come a day when we will stand before our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and give an account for every idle word.
