baptism spirit and fire.

Spirit baptism is what places wheat (children of God) in barn until time of harvest (resurrection) Fire is what chaff is burned, this fire shall never be quenched (hellfire)

everyone will be baptized by jesus, we need to decide which baptism we want.

I have seen it said that Baptism is just a symbol of our faith or following to Jesus. I just want to point out to those questioning it that even Jesus himself was baptized in Matthew 4:13-17. He said to John, ''Let it be so now, it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness''.(NIV) This is necessary for salvation. You must repent and accept Jesus and BE BAPTIZED!!!!!
I am going to assume you are church of christ or something along the lines of that..baptism.is somethong a believer does in obedience and is a formality/tradition/sacrament but in and of itself could never save you..faith in Christ does this..followed by confirmation of fruit...i do advocate being baptized though and I do adhere to an anabaptist immersion..no baby dunking, no sprinkling or pouring..onky adult believer immersion is recorded in the bible

so let me get this straight because i have not been baptized by water but of the holy spirit i will not make it to heaven!? that doesnt sound right to me, I know i have a place in heaven and so does anyone who accepts christ as their savior and gives their life to him. Baptism by water does not save us but baptism of the holy spirit does. Didn't john the baptist say I baptize you with water but he will baptise you with the holy spirit and fire?

I am church of Christ.....this being the one true church because there were no denominations in the Bible. And no, I did not say this alone would save you. I did say it was part of salvation, along with repenting and accepting Christ. Then along with that would be praying, living like Christ as best as we can, reading and studying the word, and attending services.

Yes, but can you read Matthew? Read it and see for yourself that Jesus says it is proper for us to do this to fulfill righteousness. It is not for me to judge if you will enter heaven or not. I am just saying what the Bible says and what I follow.

I have read mathew and yes Jesus get's baptised but he also never said we needed to be baptised by water. Being baptized by the holy spirit is far greater than water. it's easy to get the wrong message from reading that is why we seek wisdom from god.

Yes, but the verse I quote is from when Jesus was about to be baptized by John. By water.

ok so can you tell me where he says baptism by water is salvation? he did it for an example for us to follow if you look in john this is what jesus has to say about this issue-John3;16-18 god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so that whoever beleives in him may not be lost but have (eternal life) so who are we to call god a liar? let's let this subject go and just accept we are saved and can enjoy being with god forever ight?

Why can people not understand that I am reading straight from the Bible? John baptized Jesus with water. Is it too good for us? Are we better than Jesus? Nope. Did Jesus say it is proper for us to do? Yep. Did I also not say we are to repent, accept Christ, live like Christ, study the word, pray and go to church with fellow Christians?? Yeah I am pretty sure I mentioned all of these. Can you get to heaven on faith alone? Can you say yes Jesus I love you and believe in you. And that is good enough? No. Because when something is ''good enough'' it is NOT good enough!! And I do not appreciate people being rude an judging me. I have no where in anything I have written said any of you were wrong or your beliefs would get you nowhere. I really do not feel that some are showing love or compassion in their writings.

It's a faulty doctrine of the Denomination called "Church of Christ". Baptism does not change your salvific status. It does not make you "more saved", nor does not being baptized make you "less saved".

Galatians 3
Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by[a] the flesh? 4 Did you suffer[b] so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?

A works salvation will get you nowhere, because you cannot be saved by the things you do.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Baptism is commanded, but it does not save you.

inb4 misreading Acts 2:38

Water baptism is what happens AFTER your confession. If anything baptism is PART of your salvation, but it is not the key thing that saves.
So many misunderstandings of this topic where one is greater than the other.

The truth is if you do not believe, and confess your sins FIRST then baptism is nothing. I believe baptism is necessary, and we are commanded to do it, but teaching baptism without knowing what comes before it is not scriptual.
So, a person who isn't baptised isn't saved?

Does baptism make you "more" saved?

I think what is being said in the post is first you must accept jesus into your life, you then are baptized with the holy spirit, you then get baptised with water.
