What kind of example is that? I notice you won't answer anyone's questions. I'm done with your self righteousness. Also your question would not be so judgemental if the parents in question were Metal fans!!!

This is supposed to be a BIBLE discussion. Not opinionated one sided judgmental one. You have yet to mention biblical proof or support for your statements on why you believe rock music is evil. It is Christian lyrics with a different music .want to appeal to our future generations. That is like saying the bible is evil because it has a black leather cover, and just disregarding the messages written inside it!!!!

For me, that is not really my style of music, (I see it as noise rather than music haha!) But I can understand if others enjoy it. However, to put this in a biblical perspective I want to look at the fruits of the Spirit peace and gentleness.

If a Christian can listen to this music and find it does not affect the peace and gentleness which the Holy Spirit is putting in you than go ahead. But if it does affect peace or gentleness than I would say it is wrong.

I think the amount or intensity of this music that you can listen to will vary for each Christian. I listen to some music that I know others would think is sinful.

I am not going to say one type of Christian music is sin and another isn't. But for you, you have to ask God to know where to set the boundaries in your own life.

Go back and read the last couple of pages. I have provided Biblical proof. Also, I did not say all Christian music that uses electric guitars is bad. It's not the instrument so much as it has to do with the type of spirit that is working behind that music that is causing a wrong kind of emotion that is not of God. As for juding: It is not wrong for me to judge wrong behavior. I can say murder is wrong and stealing is unbiblical. The same holds true if one listens to aggressive music that will in turn make them aggressive or change their behavior for the worse in some way.

Right. If it is just noise to you, then that should tell you that it is not really real music but something else. To me, it sounds like confusion when I listen to it. I feel a hateful and aggressive spirit behind it. This is not a matter of my own opinion alone. Many believers and unbelievers have expressed this and it has been proven scientifically with mice that they turn aggressive because of this type of music (Which should tell you that it has nothing to do with any of the fruits of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5).

Jason, if you do not like something, or if you feel it is sinful, do not do or participate in it. but, if it is not clearly defined by the Bible, not a church or denomination, but the Word of God as sin, then do not call it evil. Romans 14 covers issues like this.

There are other sins (that lead unto spiritual death) that are not so clearly spelled out in the Bible that are evil and wrong. Having the Spirit, common sense and what we know about certain Commands by God (and the type of sins that they cover) helps us to know the difference. Heavy Metal music is based on an aggresive or hateful spirit. Yet, the Scriptures say that if we hate our brother, then there is no eternal life abiding in us.

Last I checked heavy metal music was not yet created during the times of Christ and his apostles, therefore how can you deduce from Bible verse that it is evil? Football is agressive is it a sin? It was not around in the bible.... just saying...

Last I checked heavy metal music was not yet created during the times of Christ and his apostles, therefore how can you deduce from Bible verse that it is evil? Football is agressive is it a sin? It was not around in the bible.... just saying...

It is written,

"Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." (Ecclesiastes 7:9).

So if Heavy Metal music is always angry in it's beat and the Bible condemns prideful or mindless anger, then why are folks defensive about heavy metal?

Also, if anger rests in the bosom of fools, then how can the mindless anger behind heavy metal music not fall into this category?

I won't listen to the music of your harps.....It appears if something is done more to please ourselves rather than for the Lord...it is no better than Cains offering.
