Question is Jason....has anyone ever mistaken you for a caring Christian,...from your "front?'
Yes. However, when speaking out against certain sins is not popular with people they will of course paint you as the hateful bad guy. For I did not set out to attack anyone here personally. If someone speaks of themself or if they judge me, that means I can talk about them (But not so as to make it an inquisition or anything). For I do not set out to attack anyone. I speak in general third party way against the sin with the Word. In additon, I provide real world examples to back up that belief, too. I say these things because I care about their very soul and I want them to walk the narrow path and not the wide gate path.

Define long hair. Is it long wavy hair? Long curly hair? Long hair that just goes to your back? What about facial hair? Cause hair can come in many forms.
There is no reason to split hairs. You know what I am talking about. Just look at any 80's rock band. Long hair like a girl down past the shoulders. Heavy Metal bands mirror those of Christian Metal bands. Their artwork looks the same both depicting a dark image. Their music is also the same in sound with no distinction that is obviously aggressive in sound. Believers are to be holy and separate from the world. Ecclesiastes says we are not supposed to hasten anger. Sure sounds like the tone of beat instills anger in the wrong or prideful way (and not anger in the righteous sense). Because the beat is mindless and done so as to copy what the world does. Christian Metal just did not appear one day with a new sound of it's own. It is a direct copy from Heavy Metal (except it changes the lyrics that nobody can hear anyways).

one of the guys in the band at my church yesterday had long hair ( shoulder length) and tattoos up to his shoulder. who cared? because we were there to worship, give our offerings, hear testimony of lives changed by Christ. Christ being the center and reason. not to use 1970's and 80's thinking to make false judgements.

How much holiness can you tolerate?

Abstain from even the appearance of evil. 1 Thess 5:22

God and His Word cares. For the Bible says it is a shame for a man to have long hair. So it has nothing to do with what you are talking about, but it has to do with whether or not you want to believe God's Word or not on this matter. That is the bottom line here.

right. I agree. you care nothing about the things I mentioned, just about outward appearance.

Christians get persecuted because the world hates Christ, not because we judge others based on our pet peeves.
Sometimes, what you think is "persecution" is actually rebuke. By pretending it is persecution, you are merely spurning rebuke.

If you were pointing out a group of specific bands that were singing a distorted gospel, then I would be on your side. If you were calling out a singer for off-stage hypocrisy, then I would be on your side.
But instead, you are not calling sin for what it is, but calling sin what it is not.

Satan does not preach the Gospel. If Satan is behind Christian metal, how can those songs call Jesus Christ the Resurrected Saviour and Lord of All? Perhaps one could say that many of them are "immature" in their faith, but not workers against the Kingdom.

You see, the ones you need to watch for are the wolves presenting themselves as lambs. Listen to the lyrics on K-LOVE, and you will hear what wolves in sheep's clothing sound like. (Not all the songs on K-LOVE are apostatic, but many are preaching a false Gospel, which sounds good at a surface level because they use "Christiany" phrases, but the actual message is not the Way shown in Scripture). Sure, it's positive and encouraging, but it's also doctrinally unsound, and often just thinly veiled humanism.

So false slander is rebuke? I don't think so.

Also, there are many Biblical reasons why Christian Heavy Metal is not of God. I have listed some verses in Scripture. But if you need more, I am more than happy to help.

Amen and not to mention that Paul said there was no such custom and not to be contentious about a man having long hair.......so that point is moot and has no bearing at all on biblical salvation or being biblical.....I bet John the Immerser had long hair........under the VOW......!

Jesus says we will know false prophets by their fruit. Just for quick reference, what are some bad fruits of Christian heavy metal artists? Paul says it is a shame for a man to have long hair. Paul says avoid having any kind of appearance of evil. Yet, the way they dress, their album covers, and promo photos look dark and ominous. Another problem is that Scripture says we are to be holy and separate from the world. Yet, they are a mirror copy almost of secular bands (besides the lyrics that you can't hear of course). Paul says he would rather speak five words with the understanding, then five thousand words without the understanding. Most of the time, the primary way you can hear what they are saying is to get the decoder key (Which is the albums lyrics online or in their album sleeve for their CD). Yet, the Scriptures say that God is not the author of confusion. Shouldn't I be able to understand them (even if I did not have the lyrics)? Also, if a movie director asked you to find me some music that sounded aggressive so as to play for a particular scene in a movie that displayed say a zombie attack, or a violent gun battle (full of blood), a scene of intense violence, a man destroying his house in anger, what kind of music would you recommend to him? Is it a coincidence that Heavy Metal (Which sounds exactly like Christian Metal) is used for these types of aggressive scenes? Why do you think that is the case? Was Jesus always angry? When Jesus was angry, was it a prideful and mindless anger? Or did Jesus get mad for a specific reason involving righteousness? Are we to be quick to always be in anger like Christian Heavy Metal artists are promoting with their aggressive music? Well, the Bible says we are to be slow in becoming angry.

Ecclesiastes 7:9 says,
"Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools."

James 1:19 says,
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:"

Proverbs 14:29 says,
"
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that ishasty of spirit exalteth folly."

Yet, Christian Heavy Metal gives me the impression that they are always angry (Which means they are quick to anger; This lets me know that they are not in line with God's Word). However, is not even God slow to anger? (Psalm 103:8) (Exodus 34:6).

The "custom" in 1 Corinthians 11:16 is speaking about how they did not have a custom in regards to having long hair. Paul would not be saying one thing and then contradict himself by speaking against himself. He said it is a shame for a man to have long hair and relates it to nature. But you want me to believe Paul here is speaking out of two sides of his mouth and that he then changes his mind in regards to having long hair by the fact that they do not have any custom on whether or not we should have long hair or not. Yet, he just said it is a shame for a man to have a long. Is it a shame to have long hair? Yes or no? In other words, your version of understanding this passage doesn't make any sense. It is contradictory.

Anyways, here are some translations that express the truth on this verse,

"Some people may still want to argue about this. But we and the churches of God don’t accept what those people are doing." (1 Corinthians 11:16 ERV).

"
If anyone wants to argue about this they can’t, because we don’t have any custom like this—nor do any of the churches of God." (1 Corinthians 11:16 GW).

"
Some people may still want to argue about this. But I would add that neither we nor the churches of God accept any other practice." (1 Corinthians 11:16 ICB).

"
I hope you’re not going to be argumentative about this. All God’s churches see it this way; I don’t want you standing out as an exception." (1 Corinthians 11:16 MSG).

Jason, Is Opera evil? By your formula opera has to be the MOST evil because I can't understand anything they are singing so I must stay away from the evil opera. This form of music can be very brutal and I am so happy Jason has given us the formula for evil music! Opera has to go!

Is opera a thing of the world or is it something of God? Do you believe there is a neutral kingdom? That a believer can be luke warm? Do you believe a saint is allowed to love the things of this world?

I would like your opinion on opera since you are such an expert on the evils of music. Is opera ok or evil?

yes, there are grey areas that are personal- sprit-lead decisions. not everything can be labeled good or evil. you can use a computer, I phone, tablet, whatever, to read the Bible or watch porn. this is up to the user. you can take medication for sickness or to get high. up to the user. you can hear a song, think about it for a minute, go on. or you can make an idol out it. up to the user.

Jason, How about country music? Is it evil? They sing about Honkey Tonk Badakadonks and its always 5:00 somewhere and have you noticed how silly they dress? And worse you have these musicians that want to praise the Lord through this particular genre of music. They even dress just as silly as the big country stars! Surely this is evil

You should rephrase the first line, but the point of the post is excellent.
