Scripture says abhor that which is evil. Aggressive and hateful sounding music will not be in heaven.
"hateful"
those are your subjective opinions about a genre of music that you don't understand. they may apply to the lyrics and intent of some secular bands, but secular artists purposefully espousing wickedness is not what this thread is ((supposed)) to be about.
you're citing urban legends as if they are documented scientific evidence, and taking your own emotions about secular artists and projecting them onto an entire class of music, & by doing so condemning believers who are praising God and edifying the church under the same category, completely out of hand, completely based on your own admitted inability to connect with or understand a certain style of music -- the message, intent & lyrics, you are completely ignoring. it's as though you hate Greek, so you would condemn Paul because he wrote in Greek. no matter what it is he said.
and you're doing it aggressively.
and you're speaking out like this, unprovoked, without reason, as though driven by hate.
the fruit of your posts here:
division, deception and confusion.
the fruit of one of those songs you blanketly call evil:
raised as i was on James Taylor and Carole King, not a fan of metal...
but i just sobbed my way through the words of that song. *sniffs and grabs tissue*
what a Savior! what a Mighty God!

right now i have neither the time nor inclination to go point-by-point with all the spurious "sources" you put here. maybe later. but why bother?
it's already obvious that a "progressive rock" song has the ability to move someone's heart to praise God ((see above)), even if they don't like the style, so the style of music in no way trumps the content and intent, and how much more could a person emotionally in accord with the style of music be encouraged or moved?
and it's equally obvious that whatever it is you're doing in this thread is provoking believers to quite opposite emotions.
i like you Jason. but i am quite convinced you are quite wrong on this subject.
