There's one thing I've always found with people who stereotype: they don't know anything except their bigotry.
Why did I say that? Because every cessationist stereotypes every Pentecostal, charismatic, and continuationist to those in this video.

All that tells me is what they know is what they see on TV and the Internet. In other words, NOTHING.

It takes nothing spiritual within an individual to look at that trash on TV and say it's not of God. Neither does it take anything spiritual within someone to say "They are all like that". Any sinner can say it. Any hypocrite can say it. Anybody to claims to be a Christian can say it. But only God's people really knows. Anyone can judge from the outward appearance....... But only God can judge the heart.

Even the world hates stereotyping & believes it's wrong......... when are you ever going to learn?
UMMM So again why is it that no one who claims the gifts ever shows something different to disprove it? Many of us would change our minds IF the real would be shown. I for one never said all were like that, what I said is that is what I have seen. If that is all one has seen that leads to the question where is the real? All that often is being asked is please show the real, because it's seems the real is so very hard to find. Someone show the real their would be a plumb line in which to measure against the fakes. How much would you say of what is out there is fake? 50%,75%,85%,95%,99.9%?
The higher the number would mean that the real is that much tougher to find. Does any of that figure into at all in your thinking?

And didn't you just sterotype every cessasionist?

Stephen,

Can you please explain this, why do so many people who say they have the gifts of the spirit, continue to listen to the likes of Benny Hinn,Perry Stone,Joyce Myers,Joel Olsteen,Todd Bentley etc etc why isn't the Holy Spirit warning them to stay away from them? Does that make any sense at all that someone who says they are spirit filled would continue to listen to those people? How much of their support is by many people who claim to have the gifts of the spirit?

NOT in scripture. You can't have it both ways!
I should know not to beside tracked if you go back to the original statement, what was said is that the three times someone received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues there was an apostle as a witness. See Stephen no where in those verses does it say Paul spoke in tongues. It's not there. What purpose would it have served for Paul to speak in tongues when he and Ananias could speak the same language?

Look! God's people that are SENT by God to do anything on this world are EQUIPED by God to do what God wants them to do.
The FIRST person God talked too AFTER they were thrown out of Eden God spoke to Cain. And God did not tell him to do anything but..... YOU MUST RULE OVER SIN!

God saw how Cain's heart was thinking MURDER, and God tried to get Cain NOT TO MURDER. And GOD spoke the FIRST PROPHECY in the Bible..... RULE OVER SIN! Did that prohecy turn out to be true? NOT IN CAIN! But in EVERY prophet is did! Not only in all the prophets, but in EVERY CHILD OF GOD!

Let us see what real prophets look like..... First realise this and believe this, if you do not, you CANNOT see a prophet!...

The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets....

And then this,.... 2 Peter 1:21..... For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but
holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Let me share ONE experience with you and you decide what gift this is. I just hope you have the KNOWLEDGE and WISDOM to make a righteous judgement on the event.

I went to a church and was giving Bible study to a group of young men, aged 17 to 21. They were called the A-team in the church. One night the minister opened the floor for a few minutes of open prayer. Any person could stand up and pray. I was sitting and listened to two people pray. Then I found myself standing and praying in a loud voice. I was praying in Afrikaans, and I remember I was praying for the souls of the A-team, and for the heart of the church. Please believe me, I was praying out loud, but it was NOT ME SPEAKING. I had NO CONTROL over what I was saying, NONE! When I sat down the minister said out loud AMEN! And the church service ended. Now this happened next.... people gathered their belongings and started to walk out the church. Every face in that church was looking at me. As people walked past me they would say... beautiful prayer Cobus or sir, some would say.... what a wonderful child of God you are Cobus/sir... one person said... It is a priviledge to know you Cobus...And the minister came from the pulpit to me and said... God will do that Cobus.....Then my wife and two young daughters, and I left. When we walked past the older minister’s wife who sat a few rows behind us, she said... Cobus, you are truly a blessing to this church...

I could see that the people were MAJOR impressed by what I said and I did not respond to any person verbally. Then I reached the car and once we were all inside I asked my wife.... What did I say? I could not remember a single sentance but maybe the first two words.... Heavenly Father....

Something else happened while I prayed, but that would baffle too many people here and that I would share maybe later... I ask this... WHO PRAYED if it was not me? Paul said some times he prayed in the mind and sometimes in the spirit... God says that we have the Spirit of God to like EDIT our prayers as we know nothing yet... That is when we are still young in the faith, as I was then!

And then when we MATURE we will be so wise and knowledgable that people will BECOME LIKE US!!! WOW! But hten why not, if the MATURE in CHRIST is exactly LIKE CHRIST, why NOT? And what was Christ like? Could HE speak to God and did HE know God and did God SPEAK THROUGH JESUS? Every WORD Jesus spoke, was NOT HIS!

So this is what I have to say about the words of a HOLY man.... It is NOT his words, but the words of GOD! And Jesus NEVER used the word e-mail, or motor or Bible! I wonder if God has to use NEW WORDS today. The only thing I look for is the HOLINESS in the person. HE can say what HE wants, but if it is not from a HOLY SPIRIT MOVING MAN, then he is FALSE!
If you want to teach me, or be my pastor.... Eph 4:11 to 13 pastors welcome.... BE HOLY, BE PERFECT, RULE OVER SIN, BE HOLY SPIRIT DRIVEN..... Or else GO AWAY SATAN!!!!
God, truly is ones teacher unto truth that sets us free
[h=3]Hebrews 8:11[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[SUP]11 [/SUP]and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

So sift all that is said here and anywhere else through our hidden man of the Heart and we will know truth from God and be free in God through Son, as is what Christ did come to do for us, if we will just believe God through Christ and be thankful to God for God's Mercy. Where we no longer worship with lip service, rather new heart service in the resurrected Spirit of Christ.
Thanks for this post. All things are possible with God, not a few, ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the more I think about you are correct on that,I was wrong. But again going back to the original statement in which the three times someone received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues an apostle was a witness to it. That passage does NOT say Paul spoke in tongues.

2 Timothy 3:1-9 (KJV) [SUP]1 [/SUP]This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [SUP]3 [/SUP]Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [SUP]4 [/SUP]Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [SUP]5 [/SUP]Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, [SUP]7 [/SUP]Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. [SUP]9 [/SUP]But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
Are we not on the brink of perilous times?
Is mankind more self-centered than ever before?
Is worldly carnal affections on the upswing?
Doesn't both sides of our argument believe the "form of godliness" issue is very visible?
With all the misinformation, isn't society as well as the church " ever learning, but are not coming to the knowledge of the truth?"
Matthew 7:12-14 (KJV) [SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [SUP]14 [/SUP]Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Jesus wasn't kidding. There will be few.
Guess who the majority of the few will be? No, not a denomination, but a class of people who are never considered or thought about. The poor.
How many of the poor can or is able to post Youtube videos, set up web sites, or broadcast their church services on TV and radio? Who would believe a video of a poor church? After all, if a church is spiritually successful, it is also financially successful, right? At least that's what the liberal churches preach.

Yet, when I look in the scripture, in the OT, the poor were left in their homeland when Israel went into captivity. In the NT, the apostles as well as Paul in most of his writings was taking care of the poor saints of Jerusalem because the Jerusalem church was steeped in poverty. This was one of the true churches........ Spiritually successful, financially unsuccessful.

Consider this: how many churches today are filthy rich? How many of those take care of the poor? How many of them mostly take care of themselves? Most of them won't even start a new ministry unless it will prove itself to be self funded.
In rich churches, When a poor & a rich person is considered for a position in the hiarchy, who do they choose most often? That's right, the rich person. Why? Because they believe the rich person represents them better. The last thing a rich church wants is a poor person standing on their platform in ministry. To them it just doesn't look good.

James 2:5-7 (KJV) [SUP]5 [/SUP]Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? [SUP]6 [/SUP]But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? [SUP]7 [/SUP]Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

Isaiah 66:2 (KJV) [SUP]2 [/SUP]For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
[HR][/HR]Matthew 5:3 (KJV) [SUP]3[/SUP]Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[HR][/HR]Luke 4:18 (KJV) [SUP]18 [/SUP]The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Proverbs 23:4 (KJV) [SUP]4 [/SUP]Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
[HR][/HR]Proverbs 28:6 (KJV) [SUP]6 [/SUP]Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
[HR][/HR]Proverbs 28:22 (KJV) [SUP]22 [/SUP]He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
[HR][/HR]Micah 6:12 (KJV) [SUP]12 [/SUP]For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
[HR][/HR]Matthew 19:23 (KJV) [SUP]23 [/SUP]Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[HR][/HR]1 Timothy 6:9 (KJV) [SUP]9 [/SUP]But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[HR][/HR]Luke 1:53 (KJV) [SUP]53 [/SUP]He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
[HR][/HR]Luke 6:24 (KJV) [SUP]24 [/SUP]But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
[HR][/HR]Luke 18:22-25 (KJV) [SUP]22 [/SUP]Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. [SUP]24 [/SUP]And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! [SUP]25 [/SUP]For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
[HR][/HR]James 1:9-11 (KJV) [SUP]9[/SUP]Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: [SUP]10 [/SUP]But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. [SUP]11 [/SUP]For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

James 5:1 (KJV) [SUP]1 [/SUP]Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
[HR][/HR]Revelation 2:9 (KJV) [SUP]9 [/SUP]I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
[HR][/HR]Revelation 3:17 (KJV) [SUP]17 [/SUP]Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I think the real truth about the charismatic movement is this: in the beginning, it was totally real. This I think was the final worldwide revival for the church. Mind you, this is only what I think, brainstorming.

After the likes of Katherine Kuhlman come in with her cronies, the same movement that originally was started by God for the revival of the church was infiltrated by the devil to promote the Great Falling Away. To me this sounds like a real plan.

Humor me for a minute. Give this idea some real thought.

During the earlier part of the movement, churches claimed that they came to life for the first time in years. The love of God returned & true praise & worship with it. Years afterward, during what is known as the third wave & Vineyard I suppose, people started getting carried away in emotionalism and manifestations. Now, the majority of this movement is doing everything it can to destroy true Christianity. Your own witness confirms that.

In the meantime, other denominations are letting this third wave/Vineyard into their churches because of the excitement it brings. The reason they're doing it is because their services are stale. In other words, slowly going spiritually dead. This third wave pretty much finishes the job & helps them all unite for a "universal" purpose of presenting the Antichrist.

Another thing to remember is this fact: Freemasonry has also infiltrated the church & church organizations & holds key positions. zone has mentioned this & she's right. This helps to lead the apostate church toward a one-world religion.

After all this happens, how much of the " true church" will be left? The answer: few.

I believe if we could do some real research, together we would find similar results to what I've just brainstormed. The truth just may be somewhere in the middle where some have already claimed. :)

[QUOTE=Stephen63;1190677]Is mankind more self-centered than ever before?[/quote]
Nope; actually human beings today care more about other humans all over the planet than ever before. Global empathy is on the "upswing" and has been for several years.

Is worldly carnal affections on the upswing?
Nope; it's about the same as it's been for centuries.

People always believe that they're in the End Times and things have suddenly gotten worse, but the truth is that your parents thought the same thing, and their parents, etc. In reality it's all about the same - except that we have more people making lives for themselves, fewer people starving to death, and more people living longer than ever.

"How many of the poor can or is able to post Youtube videos, set up web sites" < FREE. anyone can do it.

"Who would believe a video of a poor church?" - huh? i can post a dozen "poor" church videos of charismatics claiming stuff in an hour. how poor do you want them?

"After all, if a church is spiritually successful, it is also financially successful, right? At least that's what the liberal churches preach." - tricky.

i'll post videos of poor charismatic churches, and compare the activity to the rich churches with the megasites and production....you tell me what ANY OF THEM are saying in tongues; and if ANY OF their prophecies are accurate - okay?

there's zero diff in the activity and claims. none.

I think the real truth about the charismatic movement is this: 1) in the beginning, it was totally real. This I think was the final worldwide revival for the church. Mind you, this is only what I think, brainstorming.[/B]

After the likes of Katherine Kuhlman come in with her cronies, the same movement that originally was started by God for the revival of the church was infiltrated by the devil to promote the Great Falling Away. To me this sounds like a real plan.

Humor me for a minute. Give this idea some real thought.

During the earlier part of the movement, 2) churches claimed that they came to life for the first time in years. The love of God returned & true praise & worship with it. Years afterward, during what is known as the third wave & Vineyard I suppose, people started getting carried away in emotionalism and manifestations. Now, the majority of this movement is doing everything it can to destroy true Christianity. Your own witness confirms that.

1) this changes nothing about the claims and activity; or the doctrine used to support it. it's all built on the same foundation, which pretty much boils down to one thing: direct revelation from God. as soon as that claim is made, the deal is sealed.

you'd have to show how what you think was originally real is any different from what happens now that isn't real. that's the single thing cessationists keep asking for.

2) which churches said they came alive?

3) who said the: "other denomination's" services were going stale and "slowly going spiritually dead"?:)

If I would compare you to a criminal would that be nice? No. Because you aren't. You are a nice man and do not have any connection with criminals. So why compare me with your BAD internet experiences?? I would say, you have the opportunity to ask someone "why she thinks talking in tongues is ok". Whom even did read the bible personally, has "some personal knowledge" without internet articles or church bla bla. You could even just conclude: "may be your cup of tea, but it is not mine" But that is not what you do.
Inge ... I was attending Pentecostal churches and Charismatic meetings before your birth. I receive no enjoyment or pleasure from speaking my convictions of truth on this matter. None whatsoever. I'm quite certain that all of my likeminded brothers and sisters in Christ feel as I do in this regard. From my heart to your heart, .. be blessed in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour .. our magnificent, loving and merciful God :)

To think the perfect Paul is tlaking about is completed Scripture is to completely ignore 1 co 13:13 which clearly explains it...

And lets not forget 1 co 13:1-5 it's definitely talking about love. And why would you base an entire doctrine around 1 Scripture that's definitely poor exposition? And to think that Paul is saying the gifts will cease makes no sense, when a couple verses later he says FORBID NOT TONGUES OR PROPHESY. Yet here you are forbidding it.

Traditions of man. Ugh.

Praying in the Spirit builds up the most holy faith. But you don't believe in gifts, so why do you need that? Who needs faith right? I know I do, just today I saw a couple people healed. That's one critical reason why we pray in the Spirit so we can be in alignment with Kingdom of God here on Earth.

Doing the works of Jesus like we're commanded to do.

BTW, if 1 co 13:8 is your cornerstone for no more gifts, notice Paul didn't say anything about healing? Yet he does declare it a gift... you sure you believe all the other gifts are still in operation?

C.

[/SIZE]
Its both. If you knew you would not want to emulate them.
[/SIZE]
Inaccurate statements. Gifts yes but not those gifts which have ceased. Tongues, knowledge and prophecy per 1 Cor 13:8 All the other gifts are in full operation in Spirit filled believers.

Do you even know what it is?

Paul is very clearly stressing that gifts without love have no gain. Anything done without love has no gain. 1 co 13 the entire CHAPTER screams this...

He goes on to say knowledge will pass away... because we will see Him as He sees us. Who? Love Himself. God.

1 co 14 goes on to explain what the gifts look like under the power of love.

Should I do a verse by verse exposition? I don't mind. I speak in tongues, so obviously I've done my homework even going into original Greek. Because I was scared because of Cessationists that I was doing something wrong, but God used it for good to show me the truth and to arm me with plenty of Scripture.

Oh and if I hear false teaches again lol. Jesus defines false teachers as people who say one thing, but do another. Most particularly SHOW NO LOVE. If you don't have love, you don't know God.

Hmm and that dovetails perfectly with 1 co 13 doesn't it.

Stop preaching a Kingdom in word only. We follow a Kingdom of POWER.

It's funny you brought up Jonathan Edwards, his wife got so blasted by God she shook for days. People around her thought it was the enemy except for the fruit that came out of it. Could not be denied. Ahh the power of God, the Quakers shook under it also. That's why they called em' "Quakers".

For me it is not the PERSON who does anything, but GOD IN THE PERSON. What we have to know is we are EXACTLY like all the churches Paul ministered too!

If Paul says to Timothy... or to the Corinthians.... or to the Ephesians.... Or to the Thessalonians... God is saying the EXACT SAME THING TO US! God appointed Paul as an apostle to PERFECT THE SAINTS... now if we can only know what a SAINT is, then we already know a bit about what GOD DID IN US TO BE SAINTS...

Here is the thing about the Gospel of God. God has a will, and His will is not only for HIMSELF but for US here on earth as well. His will in heaven is done 100%! There is not a single act done in heaven against God's will. EVERYTHING in heaven is 100% God's will. KNOW THIS and REMEMBER THIS..... God's will is done in heaven, andalso in HIS CHILDREN HERE ON EARTH...

Now what is God's will for HIS people here on earth? One verse, only ONE VERSE is neccesary to show God's WILL... Matthew 5:48.... Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. For ANY person to be perfect, GOD HAS TO BE THE PERFECTION IN HIM.... And that is TRULY PERFECTION here on earth. Just to show how easy that is obtained, remember it is GOD DOING the WORK that perfects us.

Once a group is perfect, do you think there is still arguments in the group? What about differences? If the Son asks the Father to make HIS PEOPLE ... PERFECTLY ONE, AS THEY ARE ONE, do you think there would be any ISMS amongst these people? NOPE!!!!

If God is the ONE in ALL members of HIS Church, there is HEAVEN ON EARTH! Then God's will IS DONE IN THEM AS IT IS DONE IN HEAVEN... And THAT church is explained in DETAIL in GOD'S Word. IT IS A PERFECT CHURCH, and Paul said what happens in the PERFECT CHURCH... 1 Cor 14.... Oh by the way, no women has EVER spoken in this church! Also no person that does speak in tongues, have EVER spoken in this church, without one not interpreting it. There is ALWAYS ONLY the HOLY SPIRIT that are in 100% control of EVERY WORD and action done in this CHURCH!

Jesus asked in John 17... Father make them perfectly one, God still does that. In God's church is only PERFECTED SAINTS, Eph 4:11 to 13. ALL to the measure and the fulness of Christ. EDIFIED to the BODY and PERFECTLY ONE. GOD is the ONE in them all! There is NOT ONE SINGLE difference from any MEMBER in the BODY of Christ Jesus. It is a PERFECT Body and PERFECT church! Without SPOT OR WRINKLE... Spots being sin, and wrinkles being dissagreement or lack of faith. (Eph 5) They are all in UNITY of FAITH... Eph 4.

How perfect is Father in heaven? This perfect is HIS CHURCH here on earth... EPH 4:.One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

God is PERFECT in EVERY person HE LIVES IN, and EVERY PERSON IS PERFECT THAT IS BORN OF GOD... AND SO THE CHURCH OF GOD IS PERFECT AS HE IS, AND HIS WILL IS DONE IN HIS CHURCH AS IT IS DONE IN HEAVEN....

People JOIN THAT CHURCH! IT IS EASY, ASK GOD THIS....
OUR FATHER WHOM ART IN HEAVEN... LET THOU WILL BE DONE IN ME AS IT IS DONE IN HEAVEN..... AND BELIEVE WHAT YOU PRAY!!!! Now allow God to change you as HE WANTS YOU... EXACTLY LIKE HIS SON!!!!!
AMEN!

Does that make any sense at all that someone who says they are spirit filled would continue to listen to those people? How much of their support is by many people who claim to have the gifts of the spirit?
The people who support a lot of that stuff on you tube are the VERY SAME PEOPLE WHO claim they have the gifts of the spirit. If they truly have the gifts of the Spirit why then doesn't it seem they have the gift of discernment? Why are they not be addressed as being false by the very people who claim to have the gifts? It's the irony that most don't seem to get,the very same people who claim to have the gifts are often the very same people SUPPORTING them. How is that even POSSIBLE if one of the gifts is DISCERNMENT?

Mark Driscoll?
right. when you make a claim to having heard from God audibly....that's that, isn't it.
who is going to dare to question anything you say or do?
God spoke right to you.

as for prophecy being the ability to read people's mail - that old trick.
driscoll liked that, a lot.
Does that still small voice qualify as from God in your book or has it ceased because the saints don't need it? Can we depend on that still small voice as being from Jesus who has committed himself to speak to us through the Spirit in the last days since his ascension? Does the Spirit search and reveal the deep things of God to our spirit so that we might know the things that are freely given unto us?

Prov 1:23 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Is this still a good promise from God or shall we look elsewhere?
