Wrong.
Don't tell people about condoms? You do realize that condoms are a form of BIRTH CONTROL? Same subject. Same issue.

you can discourage sex all you want. but you have to realize, ARE going to have sex someday, and they should know what is available so if they don't want children right away in their marriage.

This forum gets so irritating. A lot of people talk but don't actually listen to what people say. Because. if its not their way, it must be wrong.
No, I am talking about educating children about condoms so they can use them if they decide to have sex before they marry. I think it is wrong to do that.

Honestly, what we have to do is educate them about both, and hope they make a good decision. We can't control every aspect of their lives and we shouldn't.

How many of you think the schools should include condoms in sex education or should it be abstinence only?

They should teach more of the results and consequences of sex, including emotional and practical issues, they only really touch on things and mainly they biological side. but really parents should teach their kids to a level that they are wise and educated to make wise choices. People are ashamed to talk to kids about sex but thats probably because they are ashamed themselves about sex. I dont think school really equips kids for life, I learnt enough english from interactng while growing up than i did in English at school, and I dont think Ive ever used anything but the most basic math in my adult life. Teach me about my worth, and about how to make wise decisions. Teach me about my emotional needs, and how they are met constructively, instead of letting me find out the hard way and being smashed by the world in the process. I think the whole system should be reassessed and focus on preparing people for the world and helpin gthem to make good chioces.

We don’t need to make a point of giving them information that they don’t need that might cause their downfall. Right?

Honestly i've decided this comes down age. You were in HS 40 years ago...things have changed different pressures and everything else. I really think you just dont respect the issues of peer pressure and temptation these kids face on a daily basis.

Wrong.

Giving them that information is not going to cause there downfall, if you think that you really don't have much faith in teens do you??

Not giving them this information could also cause there downfall.

well I am going to put my 2 cents in here , I feel that if we give our kids condoms we are giving them permission to have sex and that its OK.. there is a reason that Jesus told us not to...

I was a teenager once. I know what happens when a teenager learns about condoms and gets his hands on one.

Why do people equate teaching about safe sex the same as giving kids condom? Its not. Abstinence is something a parent should be teaching a kid anyways. Dont rely on a worldly school system to teach biblical vales. And it's easy to see that currently this conversation is at a standstill. Younger people who are familiar with todays youth and the temptations and everything vs. Older folks with no real concept of what kids go through. I dont mean to be offensive but thats what it has come down to. That and the complete refusal to acknowledge that some kids dont live christian lives and wont, but that they still have a right to infromation about protecting themselves.

If you teach kids about condoms, they will be more likely to fornicate, won’t they?

For me, the object is to prevent then from committing an extremely serious sin.

Temptation has been around since the beginning of time:

What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done;
and there is nothing new under the sun. Ecc 1:9 RSV

It says all these things come from within...that means the temptations are going to be naturally present with or without teaching condoms. Now do we hate the sinner and let them get STD's and Pregnancies, or do we still show love and concern for the sinner by trying to protect them? We can condemn pre-marital sex while not being a complete rightwing wacko about it and still provide condoms FOR THOSE WHO CHOOSE NOT TO FOLLOW OUR BELIEFS...I dont know how many ways I can stress this. THE WORLD IS NOT CHRISTIAN!!! It hasnt been since the fall. Its been corrupted for thousands of years. You can throw out all the lovely platitudes of this is what Jesus says and this is what should be done. They are falling upon deaf ears.

You are all seeing the world as it should be. STOP IT!!! Take the wool off your eyes. Realize what exactly this world is. Its a desolate landscape corrupted by human pride and greed and fed by sin. What you think is right isn't applicable. See the world as it is. A sick dying creation. We cant fix it, we cant heal it. The best we can do know is try to hold it together til the end.

At my school, in health class we weren't taught about condoms or abstinence really. Most of the time was spent talking about a healthy diet, exercise, and then there was a one-week unit on STDs. Sex was not promoted, we were not told about safe sex. We just learned about different STDs you could get from having sex, and how easily they spread.

I think it was even pointed out that condoms are not a failsafe anyways. the teacher pointed out condoms break, you can get certain STDs even if you have a condom on, and there is still a chance you can get pregnant if your partner has a condom on... I guess it was a roundabout way of promoting abstinence maybe.

I do not agree with teachings that minimize the importance of righteousness.
