Job 13:27,28

Stocks and pillory

These were used to punish people for crimes such as swearing or drunkenness. Criminals would sit or stand at a wooden frame and the local people would throw rotten food or even stones at them. The stocks and pillory were used as a punishment throughout the 16th and 17th centuries.

- In such punishment you were unable to move!

- You can imagine what the people would feel!

- Mentally and physically!

- Thus it is exactly what Job feels!

- Except that for Job the punishment lasted for months!

- It is like being eaten alive by red ants and you can’t escape!

- Job feels like it goes on and on!

- Slowly but surely!

- Job has no future!

- For him, it seems that Yah.weh enjoys it!

- He is totally condemned!

- He doesn’t see any way out!

- And he can’t pray to Yah.weh!

- Because it seems he is not listening!

Job 14:1

- Job speaks about man’s life!

- “short-lived”: Job is old when he speaks!

- But what does old mean?

- When we get older, we are physically old!

- But are we old mentally?

- The brain has so many abilities!

- And the more we live the more connections we can get!

- And we never use all that we have!

- And like the universe, the brain has no limit!

- So yes, man’s life is too short!

- And man is not made for such a short life!

- Otherwise why do we have such a powerful brain?

- But yes, in this world, our lives are filled with trouble!

- And Job knows what he speaks about because the devil is after him and he doesn’t know it!

- Now imagine we are at the end of the book and Job can go back to his peaceful life!

- He can now enjoy it!

- The past will slowly disappear!

- Now he knows that man doesn’t know everything!

- But he can speak to Yah.weh again!

- His strong relationship with him is back!

- He can help others again but always taking into account what has happened to him!

- It shows the importance to have a strong relationship to Yah.weh!

- It shows the importance of working for our survival!

- Taking care of our mental and physical health!

- Because when we are down we are good for nothing!

- And we can’t help ourselves!

- Yes, life is too short!

- And Job wants to live!

- But not in such conditions!

- He wants to get back to his normal life!

- He wants to be active!

- He wants to communicate with God!

- He doesn’t want to die!

- And his complaints show how much he wants to live!

- But life is too short!

- Human life is nothing compared to mental and physical abilities!

- Something is wrong!

- There is a disconnection between human life and human abilities!

- This disconnection led to modern human society which is a complete failure!

- And every new day shows us this!

- With men, there is no way out!

- Men have an incredible ability for total destruction!

- Not only destruction but total destruction!

- I would say extreme destruction!

- It is like an extreme pandemic!

- An extreme pandemic which spreads faster and faster!

- And it will reach the point where Yah.weh says: “ENOUGH”!

Job 14:3,4

- God created man as a perfect creature!

- Because of the devil and because of Adam we lost this perfection!

- We can see the result every day by living in this world!

- We didn’t choose!

- But it is so!

- We can only wait for a new world!

- But for now we have to live in this world!

- But we must prepare for the next one!

- Remember the Israelites!

- They were not prepared!

- When they left, they acted as if they were still in Egypt!

- And if Moses hadn’t prevented God from destroying them, they would have been destroyed all at once and all of them!

- May we remember this reality!

- Now of course, we are unclean!

- We are imperfect!

- But by our choices we can improve our lives!

- We can do our best to follow Yah.weh!

- Of course, we will still be sinners!

- But we can actively fight against our nature by serving Yah.weh the best we can!

- It means full activity!

- We can’t be amateurs!

- Yah.weh doesn’t need amateurs!

- He needs professionals who are ready to follow him and who never look backwards!

Job 14:5,6

- Yes, man has limited days to live!

- But he should have lived forever!

- With no limits to learn!

- And no limits to develop ourselves!

- And the possibility to develop a personal relationship with God like the faithful characters in the Bible!

- And the possibility to work for God as the source of knowledge!

- Even if some angels rebel against God, the majority stays faithful!

- Why cut the roots of the tree?

- Men are responsible for what is going on the earth!

- He has been having a lot of time to prove himself!

- And what do we see: his ability to destroy everything and life itself!

- When Adam rebelled against Yah.weh, according to the Bible, he could live a lot more than what we can today!

- If Yah.weh hadn’t reduced his days, mankind would have completely eradicated life on earth!

- Thus eternal life is connected to faithfulness to Yah.weh!

- We need his guidance!

- We need to be told what to do because we are unable to govern ourselves!

- It also shows why we need to prepare for the next promised land!

- We must learn how to obey Yah.weh!

- He won’t tolerate disobediance!

- The earth belongs to him, not to mankind!

- Yah.weh created us, not the reverse!

- We have to live for a few days!

- And we must live in this contaminated world!

- There are so many things to learn!

- But our hope must get stronger and stronger!

- And we must build it up now to be stronger ourselves!

- Even if we live in bad conditions!

- Even if we are ill or whatever!

- When we look at the faithful servants of Yah.weh in the Bible, life is never easy!

- But they must be prepared to have responsibilities in the future!

- In the same way, we must get ready to have responsibilities in the future!

- Yah.weh needs faithful servants who are responsible!

- Faithful servants who are ready to participate in the construction of the new promised land!

- We see that everywhere in the Bible!

- There is nothing new!

- We must open our eyes and our ears!

- Yes, we need to see our hope grow!

- We must not let despair grow!

- We must fight like Job no matter what happens!

- And if we die, God can bring us back through resurrection!

- But we must build up our relationship with God!

- We mustn’t let it die or diminish to become a pea!

- It is necessary to fight every day!

- As we eat and drink and sleep and breathe every day!

- We can speak about a sixth sense!

- Our senses should be developed and increased!

- Modern life goes in the other direction!

- Thus we lose our senses!

- We lose our consciousness!

- Of course, we need effort!

- We must see our progress every day!

- If not, we are dying!

- Yes, we die every day a bit more!

- When someone dies believing in God, he can have hope through resurrection!

- But it is necessary to build up this hope like a rock or a mountain!

- Something solid we can hold onto!

- But it is hard work!

- That’s why we need to study personally and dig deeply!

- We must learn how to do it!

- It is not easy because this world is superficial!

- And knowledge is a perpetual movement!

- A never ending trip!

- On the contrary superficiality is easy!

- You don’t need any effort!

- But you go nowhere!

- And thus you can’t build a relationship with God!

- No way!

- Being a faithful servant of Yah.weh means hard work and studying hard to get closer and closer to Yah.weh!

- We need strong material to think about daily and continuously!

- A good way to get away from this stressful human society!

- Yes, life is completely different from death!

- If we are actively working for Yah.weh!

- If not, we may be dead while alive!

- And Yah.weh is the God of the living ones!

- Those who are alive in his memory because of what they did when alive!

- Yes, Job wants to die because of his pain and suffering!

- He wants to go to the Grave to be concealed!

- There he will wait for God to remember him and bring him back from death!

- Everything is clear in Job’s mind!

- Do we have the same mind light?

- Death is compared to water which disappears from the sea!

- Or when a river dries up!

- In the same way man lies down and does not rise!

- Everybody can understand the image!

- Man will not be awakened or roused from his sleep!

- Everybody can understand the image!

- If only you would hide me in Sheol and conceal me until your anger passes!

- If only you would appoint a time for me and then remember me!

- Death is compared to sleep!

- Job speaks about being concealed!

- Job speaks about an appointed time!

- Job speaks about being remembered by Yah.weh!

- How clear it is!

- Quite different from human imagination or dream or chimera!

- Job is waiting for death!

- And he will wait for God’s call!

- Why should God remember us if we are strangers to him?

- Because we have had a special relationship with them!

- If there is nothing, we can’t remember them!

- Why do we say that dogs are the best friend of man?

- Because we can develop a special relationship with them!

- How many people abandon their dogs?

- Many!

- Here here we can think about mankind’s reality or real nature!

- In every direction we can see only trash!

- Yah.weh is so different!

- Another reason why we have to develop a special relationship with him!

- Being a friend is one thing, being a stranger is another one!

- Job doesn’t know it but he speaks of the devil!

- Yes, the devil is working hard to destroy him!

- Or better said, to destroy his relationship with God!

- But God watches him because he cares about him!

- Everywhere in the Bible we can see that God cares about man!

- It is his special creation!

- But he also waits for us to care about him!

- Because he gave us so much in the way he built us and the way he built the earth!

- And because he wants to offer us a bright future on the earth but according to his standard, not according to man’s standard because it doesn’t work!

- The world is filled with violence and so many bad things that it is necessary to cleanse the earth from those who are responsible for violence and bad things!

- Job’s attitude is so different from man’s attitude!

- Job says about Yah.weh that he watches him all the time!

- Man usually says that Yah.weh does nothing about man!

- Someone is wrong!

- As there is no one like him on earth, you can guess who is wrong!

- Looking at man’s society, you can guess who is wrong!

- It is tiring to repeat every time, man is wrong!

- Because he is not only wrong but a total failure!

- Saying he is ridiculous is far from reality!

- Thus man’s transgression is so great that his responsibility is disgusting!

- Why make children if it is to offer them no future?

- Well, in fact, more people don’t have children anymore!

- No hope, just thinking about the present because there is no future!

- And that’s exactly what man is doing!

- Man is responsible for the calamities he provokes!

- He has no excuse!

- And he is proud of it!

- Thus he shows that his father is the devil not God!

- When you have a father, you try to do your best to develop and maintain a good relationship with him, especially when he provides for you!

- Thus by acting badly man shows who is his real father!

- Now Job says he has lost any hope!

- How is it possible to live without hope?

- I can’t, especially in this poor world man keeps destroying more and more every day!

- I want to participate to make a better world!

- But this society has nothing to offer, only destruction!

- I want to see the results of my effort!

- I want to see Yah.weh’s actions to make something incredible on this earth!

- Where everybody can enjoy life as never before!

- I see blindness everywhere!

- Yes, the devil does everything so we can look like him!

- Yes, the devil does everything he can to strike us!

- And people think it is God!

- He does with humanity what he did with Job!

- It is remarkable or should I say shocking that the devil always repeats his action against man and man thinks it is God!

- But man never learns anything!

- If he doesn’t have God’s spirit, he is good to nothing, but nothing at all!

- If we don’t want to think that way!

- If we want to open our minds!

- If we want to see reality!

- If we don’t want to be blind!

- If we want to hope!

- If we want hope to fill our lives now!

- If we want hope to change our lives now!

- We must develop our relationship with Yah.weh!

- We must get to know him personally!

- And for that we need to study seriously and deeply the Bible!

- We need to get in touch with all the faithful servants of Yah.weh in the Bible!

- It must fill our minds whatever we do wherever we go!

- Then it will be armor and a shield and protection!

- These three men are not real friends otherwise they would help Job!

- But they do the contrary!

- So they can’t be his friends!

- Just empty words!

- Job’s question shows something is abnormal!

- When you take into account that the devil is behind them in his effort to destroy Job!

- And he is ready to do anything!

- They are impostors!

- Job sees clearly why they are here!

- He perfectly understands their game!

- There are people who like to listen to themselves!

- They don’t care about others!

- There are other people who really want to help others!

- In the same way, there are people who really want to get to know the Bible!

- In the same way, there are people who really want to encourage others to get to know the Bible!

- But in the end, it’s up to us to do the job because we can’t only read the Bible!

- We need to think about it!

- Again and again!

- The more we think about it, the more we get inside, the more the Bible gets inside us!

- It is as if it was alive!

- It is as if it was a person with whom we could exchange ideas!

- It is as if we could see the authors speaking directly to us!

- As if they were alive in front of us!

- As if we could hear their words!

- You can’t help someone by opposing him!

- If he has done something wrong, he may be told!

- But then the reconstruction comes!

- What can be done to improve his or her situation!

- Job is condemning them with his words!

- He tells them they don’t act properly!

- They don’t behave as friends!

- If we want to help someone who is in trouble, we have to choose our words!

- We must be careful !

- The way we speak tells who we are!

- They just say words!

- I prefer to write because I take time to think about what I say!

- You can’t change what you have written!

- Job is in a trap!

-Whatever he does – speaking or not – it doesn’t change anything!

- He doesn’t find any way to feel better!

- In this case, you need to escape by going to a peaceful place where you can rest a bit!

- And you need to walk, to move, to do something!

- The best is to use one’s mind so you can think of something else!

- When it is not possible, it is really hard!

- But you don’t need people to help you go down!

- When the situation is too bad, it is sometimes difficult to act!

- But staying inert is not the answer!

Job 16:7,8


- Yes, Job is mentally and physically tired!

- And when both parts are tired, it is difficult to find a motivation to continue!

- But the men who have come to see him don’t understand that!

- They are not his friends!

- Do they really know what FRIENDSHIP means!

- And apparently it is not better today because of superficiality!

- Thus Job helps us to make a personal check up!

- Do we understand who we are and what we are doing?

- Do we know what our relationship to God is?

- We need a regular check to know where we are, who we are, what we are doing and about our relationship to God!

- It is a question of health, life and death!

- We can’t wait till it is too late!

- Job is lost!

- What about us?

- We live in a world which is completely artificial!

- And every time it is more and more artificial!

- There are many means of communication but real communication is getting harder and harder!

- And it doesn’t matter how old we are!

- That’s why it is essential to maintain a deep relationship with Yah.weh!

- How lucid Job is!

- But he speaks about his devils!

- And the three individuals are his adversaries!

- And they are used by the devil!

- How insidious it is!

- And they use words like weapons to destroy him!

- Or to finish him!

- Or to get him knockout!

- Job only sees adversity!

- He has no way to escape!

- And he wants to speak about his situation!

- And how unbearable it is!

- It is not always easy to speak about the situation we live in!

- Sometimes we can’t find words!

- Sometimes we can only try to survive!

- And nobody can help!

- So once again we need to speak to Yah.weh!

- But not when it is too late!

- When we are used to doing it, then we can do it when it is a good or bad time!

- Men are responsible for their bad situation!

- He wants to win against Yah.weh at any cost!

- And he is ready to pay the price!

- He thinks that everybody has a price or can be bought!
