According to scripture Grace and Law cannot be mixed together. It is one or the other.

And yes of course Jesus did not abolish the law because He fulfilled it....in Christ we no longer need the law because we have Him .... the flesh needs the law and the world needs laws, For those who walk in the spirit the grace of Christ is sufficient.

Grace is more than the point of salvation it is the divine influence upon the believer's heart.:)
You have it backwards, just like the world teaches. Grace is our help to do the Father's will. Grace is mentioned in the OT more than in the NT. Jesus is the lawgiver. Who do you think told Moses? Who wrote those instructions on tablet of stone later to be written on our hearts? Why does the dragon make war with those who believe Jesus and keep the commandments? Why does it say even the demons believe and tremble?

Jesus taught beyond what is written, because he made it clear even our thoughts need to be obedient. (murder and adultery examples in Matthew which I know you are aware of)

I often wonder; When Jesus reacted:

Mar 10:18-21 KJV And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. (19) Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. (20) And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. (21) Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Luk 19:7-10 KJV And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. (8) And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. (9) And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. (10) For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

...favorably to these men who were adhering to the requirements of the Law, would he just shortly after His crucifixion criticize the same for their foolish adherence to the Law? If so then take a marker and scratch out Hebrews 13:8 to start with.

I haven't read the whole thread, did anyone find scripture answering the OP question? Did Jesus ever say we don't have to keep the law of Moses? If anybody knows, please enlighten me which post?

There used to be a member here who said many a time concerning sharpening swords, that is is done similar to the real sharpening of swords. It is done between battles and usually between friends gently, not during hand to hand combat with a percieved enemy clashing of swords. Of course he said it much more eloquently than I, but maybe the idea gets across. It painted an illustration in my mind which I like very much. I'd much rather read a gentle post which is your custom, than those filled with venom.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? Wow this verse always stabs my heart because I've been guilty. It's just one example of why I strive to obey the instructions because I do not like the consequences. If I belittle my brother, treat him roughly or don't forgive him it makes me feel broken myself. What is that but my conscience telling me? The laws written on my heart? I want it to be so, I hope so. Because that rings so true...How can we love an unseen God when we cannot value our brothers made in His likeness?
Anyway, I like your posts and could be wrong but thought you were gone for a short time, I thought oh no I hope you didn't shake the dust off your feet.

Lovely thoughts, pure thoughts indeed. I echo your WOW! on; "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother...." Jesus left us so many words to guide us....

I did take a break from the aggression to think and pray and rest. Plus I keep a large garden and have been busy at it.

They are not robbing me of the joy in the Lord. He has revealed what these people are to me yrs ago. The ONLY purpose in responding here is not to teach them. I have found them to be obstinate, that leads to divisiveness. So i rarely engage THEM.

It is for the honest skeptic and the baby brother or sister in Christ that can easily be confused, beguiled and deceived by a twisting of Scripture that these engage in, that I even post here. And they have honed their craft very well.
Yes, I did not mean you or me specifically, I meant a general 'us"

Agree, they try, they do not always succeed, but for some, they do sadly.

They have indeed, it is amazing how they use the same words but mean something entirely different.

So true!!

Here is what the Spirit said to the Church through the Apostle Paul...

Galatians 2:19-21 NASBS
[19] For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. [20] I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. [21] I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

Romans 7:4 NASBS
[4] Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Nothing backwards here...... Grace is not to fulfill the law, grace is the very essence of God within us.
The law was to revel sin.... and Jesus showed the even higher level of sin beyond the law.

Romans 7:4-5

Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.

Romans 11:6

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

CHRISTS BLOOD WASHES US CLEAN. The veil is lifted in that we may now, go directly to God ourselves, not through a priest, because HIS Blood, paid the price for our sins. We do not have WAIT to go sacrifice an animal and WAIT for a priest to talk with God for us. WE are closer to GOD. Our access TO GOD is now ALL THE TIME upon our REPENTANCE because HIS BLOOD washes us clean, something the LAW COULD NOT DO.

JESUS fulfilled all the BLOOD LAWS. HE fulfilled the Sabbath for we rest everyday in the Lord.

I HAVE TURNED to the LORD and THAT VEIL has been taken away and I speak with GOD everyday through the cleansing of the blood of Christ, who takes away NOT MY SIN but the penalty of my SIN, my sin REPENTED OF. but what is sin? What is sin without the law?

The Law no longer condemns and convicts me constantly YET I am no less a sinner than those who were under the law. I, THANK YOU LORD, I live UNDER GRACE, an instant forgiveness of my sins, something the law could not do, because "the law" had to be THROUGH A RITUAL with statutes and ordinances that SOMEONE had to perform but through my REPENTANT heart, AND THE GIFT THAT CHRIST GAVE ME through HIS SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF MY SINS it is now. WHAT is sin?

THE law is no longer written UPON STONE, no longer OUTSIDE OF ME. It is now written upon my heart, WITHIN ME. I am freed from the restrictions and constraints of the Law. Yet the LAW written upon my heart can also set me free from sin because I KNOW WHAT SIN IS because of the LAW. I LOVE knowing what RIGHT IS TO GOD. Because in this flesh, if I didn't have "the law" I could claim whatever I felt was ok and we all know what the flesh feels is not just ok.

So for those of us who believe the law still exists and was not done away with, ARE NO LESS LIVING UNDER THE GRACE OF CHRIST. WE ARE NOT BOUND BY THE LAW AND DO NOT FEEL WE NEED TO BE PERFECT, WE LIKE KNOWING WHAT THE RULES OF GOD ARE. SO WE DON'T TOSS THEM OUT, WE REFER TO THEM. We understand IT IS THE SPIRIT that rules, not the flesh. OUR SPIRIT, along with the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, discerns what is good from bad by KNOWING THERE IS LAW STILL., we JUST DON'T BELIEVE IT WAS ALL DONE AWAY WITH.

So I have to assume you are perfect?

Do you not know that is what the law requires?

Gal 3: 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed iseveryone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

Paul is quoting Jesus here, Who gave moses the law. And he is quoting moses, who wrote down the law.

So should we listen to you, who wants to water down the law? Or God/Moses. Who gave us the StANDARD required by the law?

Me, I think I will chose God.

Matthew 5:38-39 (KJV)
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

that doesnt say insulted, it says SLAPPED.

However it doesn't say what to do if someone else is attacked.
You're correct; the text doesn't use the word "insulted" (it also doesn't use the word, "slapped"). However, think about it: if someone strikes you on the right cheek, they've either used their left hand (an insult in many cultures) or they have back-handed you (also an insult in many cultures).

Here is the answer to the OP's question:
Here is Peter saying the Law yoke, a burden that cannot be borne.
Acts 15:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

And here is our Lord telling us that HE is the fulfillment of the Law and we must rest in Him, AND HIS YOKE IS NOT BURDENSOME:

Matthew 11:28-30 New King James Version (NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Amen, he did not give us rest by keeping us under law. He gave us rest by taking the law on his shoulders, and becoming the great high priest. So we can focus not on our own ability to obey, But solely on loving others..

Greek word rhapizō

from a derivative of a primary rhepo (to let fall, “rap”); to slap :- smite (with the palm of the hand).

Grace is available because WE CAN’T KEEP THE LAW

That was the purpose of the law. To bring us to our knees

People who are still bound to try to live the law evidently have not yet been brought to their knees, and you have to wonder if they ever repented at all.

You must be careful when you say "we" not to include:

Gen 26:4-5 KJV And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; (5) Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Job 1:8 KJV And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Mat 23:35 KJV That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. *Note these were only the bookends of a long list!

Luk 1:5-6 KJV There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. (6) And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

When Paul quoted David from Psalm 14 where David is referring to the "fool" and the "workers of lawlessness" where he said "there is none righteous, no not one..." He couldn't have been referring to Zacharias who Jesus said was righteous and kept his commandments! So what then? Are you misusing this quote in order to justify sinning?

Even Paul said:

Act 23:1 KJV And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

If a man can read these verses and not come away with how there were righteous men, then what is really at work here?

How did some Christians go from no longer being under the law to being above it?

NayborBear

Banned Serpent Seed Heresy
How can they agree with grace then preach what they do? If you think they preach grace. I have serious questions about your understanding of Grace

You can not teach grace and law. (Except that the law teaches grace, and leads us to grace as the schoolmaster, and once it has done its job, we need to put it where it belongs.) You can not teach grace and works. They are diametrically apposed to each other.

People who try to do not understand either.
Ya see EG? Grace is what gets one to believing! Grace is what gets one accepting Christ for forgiveness of sin! Grace is what keeps one forgiven, while they grow in Christ!
Christ is NOT the Father!
The Father is IN Christ, and Christ is also IN the Father! Yet? The Father is HIS OWN ENTITY! Just as Christ is HIS own entity!

In the light of "many are called.....FEW are "chosen!" Who's doin' the "callin'" EG? The Father? The Son? YES!
Who's doin' the "Choosing?" The Father? The Son? THE FATHER!

The "problem" with so many believers these days, is they CANNOT "see" the "Son", for who He is. Because they cannot "see" the Father, for WHO HE IS!
And, this is where the "law" comes to bare!
The diametrical opposing, of this "Grace vs. Law", is when you add "man" into this equation!
And? Until, or unless you allow the "Lord of the Harvest" to "harvest" you? Which means for "certain" individuals? The "end of this age" has already arrived, while we are yet walking around sucking air on THIS side of the 2nd coming! And, not after we are watching the business end of the lawnmower going over us!

Am I saying you aren't saved? Of course not!
What I take issue with is peoples' painting of grace as the whole picture! When it isn't!

I also understand why Paul WOULD NOT expound upon these matters, as he would have gotten the same RESPONSES! Milky babies CANNOT digest meat! Why? Because it AIN'T milk!

Try to feed it to 'em? They spit it right out! Try to "chew" it a little to make it more acceptable? Then, they want YOU to "do it ALL" for them!
Sorry bud! It don't work that way!

For the record? SOME things? Are TRUE! Whether one BELIEVES 'em, or not!
