So what about the sabbath?
I am going to assume your mind is not closed to accepting the reality. Many on websites such as these shut their minds to truth. You are young, so I hope your mind is still open

You agree the law God desires the christian to keep is within them.
Sin is breaking the law of God. This is why Paul tells us
Through the law we become conscious of sin rom3:20
Through the law placed within you you become conscious of your shortfall of obedience to Tha law and you shortfall of obedience I your sin
Now the Sabbath. You only have two choices here. If the fourth commandment as written has been placed on the heart of the christian, they would have to be conscious they commit sin by breaking it, nothing else I possible. They would have to have heartfelt conviction the sin by not observing a saturday Sabbath.
So, if a christian has no heartfelt conviction they commit sin by not observing a saturday Sabbath, only two things are possible. Either the holy spirit did not place that particular law on their heart as written, or they cannot be a christian. For the law has been placed on the heart of the concert, no conscience of sin means you are not saved

So the question you have to ask yourself is. Will I accept what Paul states that this I a disputable matter, or will you take the view no one can be a christian unless they know in their heart they sin by not observing a saturday Sabbath

I hope you will not be in denial about this as are seventh day Adventists and most others who observe a saturday sabbath

The Ten Commandments were put in a really fancy box and the other laws were not. This means the ten commandments were special...like REALLY special.
But there are two commandments that are greater than the 10. Why aren't those more special to you?

“Teacher, which commandment [is] greatest in the law?” And he said to him, “*‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second [is] like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:36-40

These are a shadow of the things that were to come;
the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Sabbath is about stopping working to earn one's salvation, and finding one's rest in Jesus Christ, Who fulfilled the requirements of the law on our behalf.

As the subject of Saturday Sabbath means a lot to the young lady, I wrote what I did. I am hoping she bases her opinion of others who do not observe a Saturday Sabbath on spiritual truth. I hope she has the courage to do that. That is why I wrote what i did.
Yes, there are wider issues, but she is concerned right now with that specific one

I don't think she is concerned, any advice she gets she shoots it down. I think she has pretty much made up her mind

You may well be right. The question for me is. Has she the courage to accept where her belief must lead( if she has made her mind up) concerning those who do not observe a Saturday sabbath

For me that is between her and God. I worship God daily so I don't have a specific day. Sunday is just the one I dress up better for.

I agree it I between her and God. To speak generally. If people who insist you must observe a Saturday sabbath are right( the are not) then anyone who had no conscience they sinned by not observing it could not be a christian.

I guess I would like to see them accept that fact rather than be in denial of that spiritual truth. I think we all should be prepared to face the reality of our convictions

Do not cut the hair at the side of your head, or clip off the edges of your beard
Lev19:27
This is the blind trying to lead the blind :)

Leviticus 19:27 "'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, etc.—It seems probable that this fashion had been learned by the Israelites in Egypt, for the ancient Egyptians had their dark locks cropped short or shaved with great nicety, so that what remained on the crown appeared in the form of a circle surrounding the head, while the beard was dressed into a square form. This kind of coiffure had a highly idolatrous meaning; and it was adopted, with some slight variations, by almost all idolaters in ancient times. (Jer 9:25, 26; 25:23, where "in the utmost corners" means having the corners of their hair cut.) Frequently a lock or tuft of hair was left on the hinder part of the head, the rest being cut round in the form of a ring, as the Turks, Chinese, and Hindus do at the present day.

neither shalt thou mar, etc.—The Egyptians used to cut or shave off their whiskers, as may be seen in the coffins of mummies, and the representations of divinities on the monuments. But the Hebrews, in order to separate them from the neighboring nations, or perhaps to put a stop to some existing superstition, were forbidden to imitate this practice. It may appear surprising that Moses should condescend to such minutiæ as that of regulating the fashion of the hair and the beard—matters which do not usually occupy the attention of a legislator—and which appear widely remote from the province either of government or of a religion. A strong presumption, therefore, arises that he had in mind by these regulations to combat some superstitious practices of the Egyptians.

And there are many more examples and confirmations of this fact. Why are you doing this James? You are trying to discredit the Bible by acting like an atheist :) come on brother do the research and at least understand what you are querying...

God wrote and gave all 600 plus laws to Moses to give to the Israelites. Moses is not the author of any those laws, buy God is. Those laws that God gave are referred to as "The law of Moses."
Actually it is referred to as the Torah. We called it "the law of Moses"

You appear to have completely misunderstood why I quoted that law.
But the enthusiasm-zeal with which you have scolded me is impressive.

You have asked me before if I have sideburns. So what did I not understand?

The attack from Christians on the Word of God is mind blowing and then you tell me I scowl you

Come on brother let us not go this route again, I gave you a clear answer on something that is bothering you for weeks now because you asked me the same question not to long ago...

Every OT literal law was perfect for the old covenant. I know Thi without needing to understand why any set law was given. I know it because God is perfect. For those who say a literal law must be obeyed because it was written in the OT who gave them the authority to decide which it law to obey and which to disregard

BTW
You didn't respond to the post yesterday of the scriptures I quoted about the christian following after the holy spirit, not the written code in order to live an ever more holy life. I asked you I you agreed with that.
I assume you do, as otherwise you would in reality be attacking the scriptures by not accepting them wouldn't you?

.

Can you tell me, do you believe the following is the new covenant Gospel message of the route a Christian must follow to grow in holiness?

So my brothers you also died to the law through the body of Christ that you might belong to another to him that was raised from the dead rom7:4

Verse 6:

But now, by dying to what once bound us we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the spirit and not the old way of the written code( law)

Because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life has set me free from the law of sin and death( the written code)
For what the law was powerless to do, in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man
In order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the spirit rom8:2-4

For the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control( Christs law)
Against such things there is no law gal5:22&23

Gandalf brother
Will you heartily endorse the above as the route a christian is called to follow to live an ever more holy life?
They are the words of the person chosen by Christ to be the chief exponent of the new covenant to the world

The problem I have with discussing Paul is that many of his statements could be perceived as being contradictory, and that could turn into one big whoo-ha. Paul is a difficult subject in the best of times but surrounded by people that can get aggressive (not implying you James) in defending their believes he is a nightmare.

The reason why I also don't get involved with these type of discussion (re Paul) is because I haven't study it as well as I studied other matters in the Bible and I don't want to say anything and change what I said after studying something.

You seem happy to discuss subjects apart from Paul's writings with those you term aggressive. Paul foes not contradict himself.

So you have not studied paul as much as you have studied other matters? But Paul is the chief exponent of the new covenantal message in the bible. Why do you give his teaching less diligence of study than others.
By the lord Jesus own words if you want to fully understand the new covenant you have to read beyond the gospels, for Christ said the disciples could not yet bear such knowledge as he wanted to tell them, but they would understand when the holy spirit came on them. If you feel you cannot endorse as the truth of how one is to grow I holiness according to the scriptures quoted, I say in sincerity, that is tragic.
The christian is under the new covenant. To spend less time reading of the person charged with being the chief explainer of it, than other matters doesn't make sense.

If you understand what Paul wrote you understand the outworking of the new covenant. If you don't, you are at best left with a hybrid covenant, where you cannot fully appreciate the covenant you are under.
Indeed, in this website that is born out as the truth

How can you understand the message of sin( transgression of the law) righteousness and judgement if you spend far less time studying the books that in detail explain it in preference of other matters?

You must be left with a lack of understanding these things. The only way you learn of a subject is by reading about it.

At the moment, in reality, according to your beliefs, you believe a person in open rebellion against God without conscience is your christian brother. Read Paul, pray to be led into truth as you do so
