You are taking the Jews for the authority. What did Christ say the Jews of His day taught?

Mar 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mar 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

They did not and do not recognize that Christ was the true Passover and He ate the Passover with His disciples just after sunset on the 14th...

Luk 22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

He suffered the next day, still on the 14th. He died at about 3:00pm on the 14th. He had already eaten the Passover and instituted the N.T. symbols for the Passover the evening before, still on the 14th.

Now it comes down to a choice: Christ and the disciples on the 14th or the Jews on the 15th. Up to you.
I guess you're right. It won't be settled. love ya anyway.

1 Corinthians 13:12-13 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

If Jesus, Yeshua, is the Paschal Lamb of God, and our Father does not miscalculate anything since He can change the entire system of any measure, then the Passover in Egypt was a prophesy of Christ, Messiah's sacrifice, showing what His Blood will do for all who believe, and the day He would accomplish this wondrous act.

Gal 4:9
But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
Gal 4:10
Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
Gal 4:11
I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
Are you saying the Commandments and Feasts of God are the weak and beggarly things of the world?

Let's not quote part of a thought here...

Gal 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

Under the elements of what? The elements of the WORLD.

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, (under the penalty of the Law, that is the death penalty) that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Just because one has not been called or does not understand does not suspend the Law, it stll exacts the death penalty for sin. Rom 6:23 has no exceptions attached to it.

Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Gal 4:8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

He is not talking about serving God in the flesh here, he is talking about false gods.

Gal 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Turn again to what?

Gal 4:10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

Remember verse 3? We are talking about the elements of the world and here is what God thinks of this..

Lev 19:26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.

Now if you want to really apply verse 10 the way you intend, that eliminates Sunday, xmas, ishtar and even national holidays. It even eliminates your birthday or your children's or (in my case) grandchildren's.

So what are the weak and beggarly elements in verse 9 referring to? The elements of the world...

Gal 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.

That were of...

Gal 4:8 But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods.

Would a dead body stink after 4 days?

They had to go and buy the spices and then prepare them on Friday. There was not time to do that and do the anointing with the spices and oils. We are not talking about sprinkling a few drops here...

"What is significant is the amount of spice brought to the tomb; it is estimated to be anywhere between seventy-five to hundred pounds. This is a huge amount; the common poor person would not be able to afford any spices to bury their loved ones. Those better off could afford some but not usually this amount. This is enough spice for the burial of a king." - The History of the Burial of Jesus - Yahoo Voices - voices.yahoo.com

That figure of 100 pounds had stuck in my mind and I wanted to confirm that. That had to be prepared, remember htis is 31AD, there was no Walgreen's on every corner, and then the body had to be washed and wrapped. As it was wrapped, layers of the spices and oils were added. This was a time consuming thing and above all of that, at sundown began the weekly Sabbath.

The short of it, not enough time.

What are you saying ?

Do you believe Jesus was resurrected on a saturday or Sunday ?

What are you saying Jesus body was wrapped in spices before He was placed in the tomb note this was readfy made spice that Pharasees always had at hand
Go study how they lived hmm they were rich

Note the ladies bought and preapare spices hmmm intersting why learn the customs of the Jews when one is dead

[h=3]John 19:38-41[/h]King James Version (KJV)

38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

Sorry I am very slow on dates. If Yeshua is the Passover lamb then the day He's sacrificed should be the day Israelites ate the Passover so He couldn't possibly eat the Passover on the correct day and die on the next. Please help me here. Thanks

I'm just looking at different opinions and see which one makes sense. So why would the ladies buy spices too when He's already wrapped up by Nicodemus? The other question is: Was Nicodemus prepare big quantity of spices in such a short time? Although they were rich but did they stock these things at home all the time?

It was Nicodemus who prepared 100 pounds and I don't recall how much the ladies prepared but probably not for wrapping as He's already been wrapped. I'm totally lost here.

The question is Sunday the third day from What or Is it indeed the day for what hmmmm

what happen to the other night

3 days and 3 nights hmmmmm okay lets chech as you said

Friday friday night

Sunday morning the tomb was empty before sunrise oppps seems that you have to go fight with the scripture again hmmmm

So we have 2days and 2 nights
looks like a day and night is missing do you have it y chance

Lets even put the sunday morning part of a day for you as Sunday day ok hmm lets check

Friday friday night
saturdayday saturday night
Sunday morning = suunday day ooppps

We wil have 3days and 2 nights

Where is the other night my friend

When you get it let me know hmmm

One must do there resarch on the Jewish culture and What was meant by today is the third day hmmm

Nice try though but i have been down this road before hmmm
You are not accepting the scriptures that tells you when he died and went he raised instead, clinging to three days and three nights. You will not be able to count 72 hours! But by the scriptures you know what day he was raised. He was raised the third day which is the first day of the week. By our calender Sunday is the first day of the week, Saturday would be the Sabbath.

When were the spices bought? Mark says, when the Sabbath was past(Chapter 16:1). Luke says before theSabbath commenced(Chapter 23:56).Was this the weekly sabbath ?

Now let us see upon which day Jesus

was crucified and buried. In Luke 23:54
we read, "And that day was the
preparation, and the sabbath drew
on." The crucifixion day, therefore, was followed by a sabbath, but what sabbath? If it was the weekly (7th day)
Sabbath, Jesus was only twenty-four hours in the tomb, for He rose as have just shown, in the end of that day.

In John 19:31, however, the sabbath that “drew on” is called “an high day” and this is where we get the clue to the
solution of the difficulty.

Jesus was crucified on Passover day. This happened on the 14th day of the month of Abib and was followed by “the feast of unleavened bread” which commenced on the 15th, and continued until the 21st day of the same month

(Lev. 23:5-8). The first and last days of
this feast were days of "holy convocation" or sabbaths; no servile work was to be done in them. The sabbath that “drew on” was one of these (i.e., the 15th of Abib), and not
the weekly Sabbath at all.

Jesus,
therefore, lay in the grave two sabbaths, the first being the 15th of Abib, the “high day” that drew on, and the other, the weekly Sabbath. This fact enables us to

Mark says the women bought the spices "when the sabbath was past". This, of course, was the “high day” sabbath mentioned in John 19:31, Luke 23:54, and Mark 15:42. Luke, however, (Chapter 23:56) says, "they... prepared
spices and ointments; and (then) rested the sabbath day according to the commandment." This was the 7th day. The women, therefore, bought and prepared the spices between the TWO sabbaths that Jesus lay in the tomb, and
"in the end of" the latter, two of them came and found He had risen (Matthew 28:1-6). The day the spices were bought, therefore, was Friday.

The other question is: Was Nicodemus prepare big quantity of spices in such a short time? Although they were rich but did they stock these things at home all the time?
Let us now put these conclusions in
simple order. Jesus was crucified on Passover day (the 14th of Abib) and was buried as the “high day” sabbath (the 15th of Abib) “drew on”. (See John 19:31 and John 19:14 and 42, and Luke 23:50-54). When that high day “sabbath was past” the women bought and prepared the spices. (Compare Mark 16:1 with Luke 23:56, first clause).

Thus, the spices were boughton the 16th of Abib. This was followed
by the 17th of Abib, which was "the sabbath day according to the commandment," on which the women
rested.

"In the end of" this, the two Marys came to see the sepulchre and found that Jesus had risen. (Compare Luke 23:56, last clause, with Matthew 28:1-6.) Therefore, as the 17th of Abib was "the sabbath day according to the commandment", now called Saturday; the 16th of Abib (when the spices were bought) was Friday; the 15th of Abib (the high day sabbath) was Thursday; and the 14th of Abib (Passover day) was Wednesday.

Jesus, therefore, was buried in the end of Wednesday, as Thursday, the "high day" sabbath drew on, and rose in the end of Saturday, the 7th day, as the first day also drew on, having been in the tomb exactly three days and three nights, or seventy-two hours. The four gospels, therefore, are in complete harmony on the question of the three days and three nights, and Mark and Luke are in perfect accord as to when the spiceswere bought.

A few remarks are now necessary with reference to the word “dawn” found in Matthew 28:1. It says, "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn Sabbath ends at sunset (“even,” Leviticus 23:32), but "dawn" here is near sunrise man say --just the very opposite. An average period of twelve hours forever separates them.
Furthermore, the phrase, “In the end... as it began” will not permit any period intervening, much less twelve hours. There is also something further to notice: "as it began to dawn toward the first day", is clear evidence that the first day had not even commenced. “Toward” a day is not “on” it. What shall we do with it then? Just this: substitute the words “drew on,” or “approached,” for the word “dawn” as the same Greek word (epiphoskouse) is translated in Luke 23:54, and you get not only sense, but harmony, for, as the end of the Sabbath approaches, the first day of the week naturally “draws on.”

Thankies for this information i love truth and this is truth
there were two sabbaths as you said
truth is truth people need to put aside their belief and look at the jewish culture and figure it out
Matthew 28 says it all they came on the closing hrs of the saturday, the first day did not come as yet , yet we see that Jesus was not there when they came to see the tomb

The word dawn there means begining like the dawn of a new year or something

thankies from NT

according to John, they could not have eaten the Passover meal in the upper room; since Jesus was already dead on the day of Preparation.
