This is where I firmly believe all those people running around warning us to "keep watch" and to "fill the oil" and to "stand guard on the wall", etc, et al, ad nauseam, have missed the meaning.
Even if we COULD do something if we were to see the Eastern sky suddenly split, I don't think THAT is what is being spoken of here. I think we are each being warned to watch the attitudes of our own hearts and how our sensibilities regard the treatment we offer toward other human beings. (The hardening of your heart) I honestly think THAT is one of the most important things Jesus wants us to stay aware of.
After all, THAT was the entire basis of the judging of the sheep and goats. The Bible fairly overflows with stories of how people's hearts (of all races and nationalities) led them to treat all the rest of the humans walking this world.... both for good and for bad.

So if I say your striped shirt is black with white stripes as a fact and someone else walks up and judges that it's white with black stripes, does that make each person's opinion wrong? To some yes to others no. It's how someone judges something that matter and in which case since you didn't read it then you have no room to judge it.

All believers have taken up their cross with Jesus because we have died with Christ on the cross and we were resurrected to be a new creation in Him - joined as one spirit forever by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will be with us and in us forever. John 14:16
To take up your cross daily is to acknowledge that you too have died and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. This is what it really means to follow Christ. From this position of being joined with Him in His death - now we are to grow in His grace in the power of His resurrection.
If you would only preach and teach the actual gospel then maybe believers would have the nutrients to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and walk by the Spirit so that they don't walk according to the flesh. This "lose your salvation" nonsense is NOT the gospel.

Yes, there are many warnings about living according to the flesh and it's consequences in this life and we should be giving good heed to them. Take up shooting heroin and you will see the reality of this in manifestation very quickly. Preach the gospel first so that people can grow up in Christ. Instead religion has preached fear, condemnation and guilt and shame.
It's no wonder some have walked away from organized church in some cases. Christ is still in their hearts but they are living by their flesh - let's feed them the love and grace of God and when they have been fed properly - then we will let God's loving discipline teach us all as we walk in Him.
